The Norwegian efforts at the Olympics are now officially a disgrace. Only 1 gold after 6 days, and now, the best Norwegian comes in at 17th on 15km classical cross country skiing, an event where we traditionally should be the best! Gah, this is so embarrasing.

What? So you're saying that priests and ministers aren't allowed to reveal to the police information that has been revealed to them during confession?

Whoo-hoo! Call the media, we have a SLOW news day, because this here ain't even old news, this is just how it's always been regarding confession...

OoC: Sky?!? This is the weirdest coincidence ever... So, what are you doing in Oxford?

SomerZ got up, looked at all the people surrounding him, and realized he knew but a handful of them, and he didn't really know any of them that well. With a few glances from side to side, he decided the pink thingy was the smartest to adress, the other SomerZ had often gone on adventures with him, he seemed to recall.

SomerZ: Uh, hi there, uhhhh, Karbonite. How you doing? Ehhh.. Heh.

With a dry smile he tried to appear as friendly as possible, hoping that his shortcomings on knowledge that SomerZ was supposed to possess wouldn't shine through.

Back in Floatia

The door to Adamant's place flung open, with a maddened Floatian President stomping in.

SomerZ: Adamant, call whoever you must. We need to get transportation, and we need to find The Weatherdark. Pronto!

(Ah, I see. I was pondering going to Nicaragua myself for a semester, but had to cancel my plans due to certain obligations made here in Tromsų.)

SomerZ put a hand to his helmet and coughed. Then he twisted some screws, pushed a few buttons, and removed the helmet. Following which he started rubbing his head with his hand.

SomerZ: Uhh... I... My head hurts... I, uh, the fall...

Floatia

SomerZ: All this conspiracy-mongering reminds me, the Russian government sent me some new "candy" they wanted me to test before they put it out on the streets. Maybe I should just go look at that before we take off with the NASA ships...

USA is currently up 3-2 after stealing a point in the 7th against Canada in the curling. They must win if we are to get to play Canada in a tie break for the semi finals. So... USA! USA! USA!

In other news, what do y'all think of the Austrians, eh? Pretty silly, if you're going to use a coach who's been banned from the Olympics for having administered performance-enhancing drugs to athletes, don't put him on team pictures with the caption Austrian Olympic Team 2006.

Edit: And I know I asked this 4 years ago, but I never got a good answer. Why is it that over there 'cross the pond, you score nations only by how many medals they've taken? The official way to do it is by scoring gold medals first, then silver if gold is tied, then bronze.

SomerZ was in a pickle, and he knew it. This man who was hugging him right now was an acquaintance of SomerZ, that much he remembered. He was also, judging from what he had just said, a good friend. However, SomerZ had no idea what his name was. SomerZ slowly and awkwardly put his arms around the man hugging him.

SomerZ: It's, uh, good to see you, too, uh, friend... But I think, uhhhh, the fall must have knocked some circuits out... Uhh, it seems I've swiss-cheesed my brain.

SomerZ: Bah, that rat-bastard is just trying to "repay the favor" I just did him. Oh well, two can suck at that game...

With that, the cyborg got up, then raised Blastie up in the air, and proceeded to hit himself with all his strength in the gut.

Blastie:

A few seconds earlier, Neo Grape Gardens

SomerZ: What in the Hell? My twin? What are you gu... Ooooooomph...! My tummy hurts...

SomerZ pushed the Red Mage who was on top of him off, and proceeded to whack himself over the head, the ensuing seconds had spectators in both Floatia and on Neo Grape Gardens amused, as all they could see was basically one half of a big fight.

Arsenal takes Real and Lyon takes PSV in their away matches... Benfica scores on Liverpool in their only goal scoring chance of the match... Bayern and AC Milan draw. Still, low-scoring matches, and it's all open in the return leg. Benfica is the only home team that does not have to score in their away match to proceed.

I smoke about 5-10 cigarettes a day, a cigar about three times a year (during special occasions), and hashish on a very rare basis. I will not stand here and defend it, as it is a horrible habit, but I will say that many people on this board have a rather naivė attitude towards both drinking and smoking.

Still, I used to say that you can't really talk about smoking until you've tried it. Now I wish I'd stayed ignorant about it, as I'm pretty sure that would have been better...

So, then... The Olympics are over. The Medal Ranking sees Germany (11-12-6) ahead of the USA (9-9-7) and Austria (9-7-7).

The Americans here seem unhappy, despite the fact that they moved up from 3rd to 2nd from four years ago, they were 5th both eight, twelve, and fourteen years ago. You've pretty much done your best Winter Olympics since before any longer than I know about.

We, on the other hand, manage to get a measley two gold medals, and do our worst Olympics since Calgary 1988. For the first time since that Olympics, we are also out of the top 3 in the medal ranking. In short, we sucked this year.

I'm sorry Colin, but gold medal count is the official system used by the IAAF, and, well, the world outside North America. But this is an old discussion that somehow managed to get me banned from an IRC-chat room by a power hungry admin 4 years ago, so I have no intention to argue with you about it. I'll just settle for saying that gold medal count is used by the IAAF, as well as on the IOC's web-pages (though the IOC technically doesn't support a ranking of nations).

We've had loads of snow for months now, and will continiue to have so for untill at least April. If we'd shut down this town for the ammount of snow shown in those pictures, this town would be inoperative for half the year.

Of course, since I am a southerner (in Norwegian terms), and southern Norway is shut down right now because of snow, people here take every oportunity they can get to make fun of me for the southerners' inability to operate during snowy weather.

Metal? Dat's de devil's music!

Nah. Truth be told, I'm not that big into metal. Which kinda sucks, seeing as how I work in a bar/night club/pub with a live stage in Norway, so I get to hear a lot of metal concerts throughout the year (for those not in the know, metal is quite big over here. Heck, I think "Scandinavian Metal" has pretty much become a genre of its own, no?). For example, Stonegard, as was mentioned in this here thread, I've seen live while working. During By:larm, I worked while Allfader, Sahg, Enslaved, and Insense played. Sadly, I was not too impressed.

I'm big into grunge music, though, a genre which I'd say borrows a lot from metal (and which some newer metal in turn has borrowed from).

All in all, though, I'd have to say that most metal bands are quite talented (disregarding the newer grindcore/nu-metal style bands, of course), but the music is just not for me.

(OoC: Sorry, the past week has been Hell, but now it's settling down, and if you all are up for it, I'm ready to continiue this)

SomerZ: Just a sec... Ooooomph!

SomerZ fell to the ground.

SomerZ: That idiot never knows when to stop.

With that, SomerZ pinched the inside of his left arm, a signal the two had devised to show that the fight had to be stopped. He then went out to take a look at the spaceship.

SomerZ: Oh yeah, this will do. This will do just perfect... Well, if it has scanners, of course. And rocket thrusters. And a sizeable arsenal...

Neo Grape Gardens

SomerZ: Well... Errr... I'm woozy, too much fighting... Yo, red caped dude, throw me a beer, will ya?

The Champions League Semis and Quarters are in:

Quarters:
Arsenal vs Juventus
- Juventus needed the biggest fluke goal in the history of football to manage to scrape past Werder Bremen, Arsenal beat Real Madrid with Jens Lehman basically telling Klinsmann that he will play first goalie for Germany in the World Cup. Arsenal should take this, they have been impressingly good in the CL this year.

Lyon vs AC Milan
- The two teams with big victories in the last round. I'm sure most people would be guessing at AC Milan, but I have Lyon as an underdog for winning the whole thing. They are, after all, owning Ligue 1 at the moment.

Inter/Ajax vs Villareal
- Kinda hard to predict, since Inter and Ajax aren't done with each other yet. Still, I'm guessing Inter will make it past both Ajax and Villareal.

Benfica vs Barcelona
- Benfica has the tightest defence in the Champions League, having allowed only one goal so far. They've also made sure of the exit of Man Utd and Liverpool. Still, if there's one team that can find the combination to unlock the Benfica defence, its Barcelona. If Barcelona can't win this, I'll have Benfica as favorites to take it all.

If my predictions go in, it gives these semis:
Arsenal vs. Inter
- It's a matter of statistics. Arsenal has always sucked in the CL, while been great in the PL. Now they ain't doing to good in the PL, so I'm guessing they'll win the CL.

Lyon vs. Barcelona
- It's a shame, I would have liked to see this final. Lyon can take Barcelona, but I'm going to have to believe they won't. The two best teams of the competition see it off in the semis, but that's the way of the draw.

Leaving us with:
Arsenal vs. Barcelona
- No surprises here. Not even Lehmann and Henry and the lot can stop Barcelona this year. Thems guys are going for the gold.

SomerZ flinched
SomerZ: Argh! I... am... SomerZ! Why won't you believe me?

The cyborg stormed off in a fit of rage towards Kirbnite's house.

Floatia
SomerZ: Well, we'll have to make do without weapons then. Gerard, Stu, we're leaving! Are you coming, as well, Adamant?
Stuart: Where are we going?
SomerZ: Space! To find my ship!
Stuart: Space...? Outter space sure is mighty large, y'know...
