Or you could not waste perfectly good system like that

When I have a system that's beyond repair, I usualy strip all the parts from it. You never know when you might need 'em. You could always try that if you can't get the topscreen fixed.

Tiptup's my favorite one too.

That's a very horrible way of looking at it, you think it is going to suck because a character or two won't be there? =|

I voted the second to last option, only because I havn't had a whole lot of faith in the recent quality of Donkey Kong related games that have been put out. We'll see though, this might very well be a pleasant surprise.

Oh my god....finally! I only hope that the song list does NOT change when it comes to the USA...if it does, I'll buy the Japanese version (but is the Wii region protected? =|) because I'm tired of Nintendo having to rape every rythm-based game to grace their system. But since this isn't directly made by them, it might be different. We'll see ;\

Good job. I'm sure that's all interdepth would need to fix it too, but he doesn't which is why he's asking what to do with it. I'm guessing there was supposed to be a point to your post just then, though.

The bottom screen still works which means it can play GBA games like he said, plus every other part in it is good and can be put to use for a number of things if you're creative enough. Its a waste to annihilate an entire system just because one screen isn't working.

I really don't care what anyone says, I'm actualy VERY impressed by this hack :3 I personally think that you used the graphics WELL, it doesn't matter if SMAS graphics are over-used because as long as you use them well, they still look good (I much rather perfer something that is over-used but looks right than something brand new but completely out of place and clashing with everything else)

The levels look fun and interesting, which is what I've always loved about Mario games. I cannot wait for this :3

Of course I know it is POSSIBLE but what I'm wondering is has it been done?

I should probably clarify in that I'm hoping not to modify not just how the tiles are arranged, but I'm intending on making Mario a sprite of different dimensions than 16x32 or whatever the heck he is... I'm guessing its possible, right? No reason why not. Has any tilemap dat a been found? Can anyone point me in some kind of direction? I'm not really affraid to get my hands dirty here, so. Big AND smalll Mario's would be great...since they are just going to be the same thing (instead of getting small, you are going to stay the same size... )

Um, yeah so if anyone can point me in a direction, that would be awesome 8D thanks. ._.;

ASM? That's stupid, though, its not like I expected it to be easy. Thanks for the program though. Exactly to what extent would I be ASM hacking here? Huge? Not even worth it? Is it possible to just re-use the ASM of a tile map for say....a sprite from a different SNES game? Would that WORK, or is the code so very specific to SMW's engine that I would be forced to hack around it? Not that either would be an easy endeavor but I'm trying to estimate just how much work I have in front of me here.

So what if they don't make sprites from scratch. The SMAS graphics are for all intents and purposes all recolors of their NES graphics, yet you don't see people saying WHY DIDNT THE ARTIST CREATE ORIGINAL SPRITES FROM SCRATCH. For that matter, I've seen SO many SMB1 hacks that use SMB3 graphics, and I almost never hear the volume of complaints of graphic over-use as I do here. Keep in mind they are the same graphics as these, only 8-bit. It just comes off as a little hypocritical when I look at it like that and honestly, if people can be all WOW THTS AMAZNG to an NES hack with good level design and SMB3 graphics, why can't they do they same in these cases? Its just...I don't get it ._.; what's the difference, really.

And saying that there's more SMW hacks than SMB hacks thus making it more common isn't really a good excuse, I'll just say now...

Well alright, I think since Peter put his own stance on the argument we should stop talking about it. Xk you've made some good points there, especially when it comes down to the amount of effort required. I forgot I somewhat overlooked that aspect regardless, on a personal level I have no real issue with graphics that look good and are properly executed (I've seen many overused SMAS graphics used absolutly horribly, or modified slightly, or used with clashing graphics and...no)

Anyways, lets try and keep the reaminder of this discussion about the hack itself ^^;

But as I said, thanks for the feedback.

Yes, you're making this hack, you can decide what ExGFX to put in or not, but just ignore Xk.

To Xk: What the hell has this matter anything to do with the criticize of Mona Lisa? Yes, SMAS GFX is overused now, but IT IS NOT A PIECE OF SHIT, AND DON'T FORGET NOT EVERY HACK USES SMAS GFX! THERE'S STILL LOTS OF PEOPLE USING ORIGINAL SMW GFX, THEN WHY DON'T YOU SAY THAT SMW GFX IS OVERUSED?

Uhh....calm down. That was perhaps the worst way you could have expressed your opinion.

Aw, man, I was affraid of that. Well, the only other question I have is if it is possible to make the playable Mario sprite another existing sprite from SMW and work from there? Ehh...I might just let this one go

Looks more like a rudimentary Famicom to SNES converter actualy (which is somewhat reinforced by the fact that it lists the copyrights for the NES and Famicom respectively..)

Anyways, it wouldn't be the first, as they used such converters behind the scenes in many NES games. Perhaps they were planning on comercializing it, but probably realized at that time there wouldn't be that large of a market for Japanese games in America...I really don't know. It's kind of interesting though.

This really isn't that impressive. Look at the specs. Doesn't even use the real processors, it couldn't even use a variation? If the patent is up, why not go the whole way. If the system is inaccurate enough that things need to be EMULATED then it isn't worth my money, thats why I download free EMULATORS for a computer.

I would assume the patent on the SPC700 chip is up too, and considering a quick google search makes it entirely possible to still obtain this part reasonably, even a clone that reproduces its instruction set wouldn't be THAT hard for them to do. I don't know ;\ I'm just not really feeling this one. I'll stick to my own console clone projects and leave these for the masses who don't know any better.
