Well, I'd like to keep posting my opinions. I'm over 10 years following the emulation scene and the romhacking, which is poorly deprecated. I had freezed my MegaMan hacking tool, visine, since 2002 due to the lack of interest. Now, I'm resuming this project, as many people are really interested in it as an advanced tool. Moreover, I'm assuming this is a great forum to share my ideas about future development of my project and romhacking related. That's it, so I hope to get approval to post in. ;;

Hmm... guess you'd like an editor much like the PSP version (MegaMan PoweredUp), which you work with the 16x16 block, instead of a structure. This is quite complex, as the game "replaces" certain groups of blocks by structures. It's kinda hard, but not impossible. By the way, it lacks freedom to draw levels, because you MUST accept the automatic structure changes, specially with spikes.

Calm down.
Yes, there's no GC hacks, but your friend probably has used a 'gameshark' code to 1) disable the game clipping (seriously, I could reach the bays by taking a forced path through the ocean) or 2) he changed the game 'time'. No clue, only guesses...

Awesome work, nice graphics!
There are a few gameplay aspects I dislike in SMW. In other words, I'm quite retro, much like a SMB3 gameplay.

Keep up the good work.

Notice that I could go near enough the bays (the stage you enter where you switch blue coins) before the clipping pushed me back to the beach... (Hotel Delfino)

I'm sorry, my bad. Anyway, he asked "hot or not" and I replied "no". I'm sorry if sounded harsh anyways...

Yes, the idea is to trap different reads, as zero/non-zero, to spot the asm code. However, it's not for any game, as Rockman (NES) seems limited to TSA types: if you fake the value, the floor might disappear, or the spikes might become "air", and so on. The coolest games that I could play with this hacking were DukeNuken3D and Wheel of Time (PC) and Metroid Zero Mission (GBA), awesome.

Perhaps the hacking concept lies into another thing: to produce copies of the game data burnt into physical media, as DVDs or EEPROMs. The idea of fetching the entire game data thourgh a network connection, and play it the same way directly into hardware seems to be a 'different' way of 'piracy'. By the way, it just proves the system has security flaws, but nobody was able to recreate media disks (yet).

What do you mean? Can I burn a GC game image into a mini-DVD disc and play it using a modded-GC, eh? Guess no.

How so? You probably know the network connection "issue" with Phantasy Star and a PC. Well, did you read the article?

It's "c00l" news for me. Anyway, it's far away from what the PS2 disks piracy became. About the NDS, I know very little about this system. I won't slip off-topic again.

He might be busy with real life. My respect. Anyway, it's not SO hard to code an 3D editor with the public info already available, and I'm surprised about nobody else was able to code a Direct3D based program to edit that stupid N64 game. Instead, they're always *waiting for*, *waiting for*, *can't wait!* and such...

Of course this editor isn't fake, but it lacks motivation to continue, for some obscure reason... I remember the guy wasn't even using a C language to code it, so don't flame him.

Who knows... but the best choice now is to avoid keeping this topic alive. ;; It's not productive to discuss VL-Tone's "fate". As I said, we already have enough public info to hack SM64, plus to make an 3D editor. It's time to someone start a true and serious project.

An editor to rework levels or an editor to rebuild the game? Well, to rework levels is the first step of any great editor. Some peoples don't see this magic...
