Much better. But you need to be even less funny than that if you want to wow me. Like this.

Oh, you hilarious crazies. Super Mario Sunshine was many a bad thing but it did not have bad controls. FLUDD control was a little off, but things like Mario and his spin and whatnot were spot-on.

Weirdest thing would maybe be Chet Rippo. Or Rip Cheato.

Yeah, s'bout right. I tried building an actual level around the things I made and, well, it sucked. Big Boo Boss in a grass level? A level where you have to hop on falling Bob-ombs to reach a pow then again to reach a door? Avoiding spike tops to enter pipes? What the hell?

See, I like to think I've gotten better since the days of Super Mario Illiad and Project MALLOW, and I have. Just... not as much as I'd hoped.

So. If somebody could think up this great status bar hack idea or whatever... I can do that.

They say good ideas are a dime a dozen, but that's just said by dreamers thinking the grass is greener on the other side of the fence. Those who have technical skills still suffer from a lack of ideas. I have been on both sides of this fence in my life. When I was young I had ideas in excess, and now that I'm older I finally have the skill to do them but the ideas have dried up.

So. Come up with some stuff, people. My powers of ASM aren't being used for diabolical purposes and that's such a waste.

Level design and gameplay usually aren't good, though.

And heck, it's even sad compared to those who pick some less popular game and manage to work it into SMW decently.

You're getting really good at making comics that aren't funny now. You still need a little more work, though. The pyramid pun was almost funny. You can't have that.

You did an especially good job on the second half. I think two blank panels would have been more amusing.

Maybe my advice would be more effective if I made a funny comic to show you what not to do.

If you don't give up, learn to make levels that aren't full of glitches and with original, decent levels with decent palettes. Otherwise, yes. Give up.

||Bass has a good point. There's a point where mental disabilities stop being disabilities and start being part of your personality. The symptoms of Aspergers are too general and too varied. There's so much grey area that this syndrome has become a big mess.

Sure, there are likely people affected so heavily by these symptoms that they can't function normally. But the symptoms are so debatable that I seriously doubt most cases are cases at all, but mistakes driven by overprotective parents, overanalyst psychologists, and the arguably aflicted.

Graphically, it looks okay. The back arm should be less... weird and more like an arm. The chin looks kind of funky. You could leave it as it is and it'd be fine, though. Looks like a pain to fix those little details that, if I recall correctly, were present in the original SMB2 toad.

But can you code it? Does it DO anything? Because if these toads just walk back and forth, acting exactly like SMW goombas, that would be really bad.

Heh, you've got your work cut out for you. I know of nobody who's turned a regular enemy into one that launches things. Not in my years of hacking.

SMW could hold the answer to life, the universe, and everything* and it wouldn't matter because nobody could get at it. Except FuSoYa, but, well, nobody can get at Fu's information nowadays either.

Good luck, though.

You've taken a turn for the worst. You were doing quite well at making bad comics, but this last one was almost funny. If you had added more jokes and funny/morbid circumstances to the obvious punchline this comic would likely have been swept into an upward spiral the likes of which it would never fully recover.

I think the worst part was when you made the troubleshooting guy have a messed up head. That was funny, and you can't be doing that.

Asdf gets a Seal of Approval for Harsh but Truthful Commentary and lynch82 gets one for Inappropriate but Hilarious Commentary.

Bio has missed the mark and I now ask him to never post a nonsensical, heavily exaggerated "Hey, I want to make fun of this guy too" comment ever again.

I'm sure Kyouji has done his share of hunting people down and killing them. But that probably got old. He sought alternatives. Why, of all the hatemongers I know I'd have to say Kyouji is the most talented in the field of hate.

How is it funny that I should say that? I'm just saying, the man knows hate.

And I would have loved a trebuchet for Christmas. In fact, my birthday's coming up...

Speaking of blue for Ludwig, you should do that for his sprite. He just doesn't look right gold.

The styled status bar thing sounds iffy. If you planned on putting a border or some such in and changed the tiles it used or the tile itself on the fly, that could work. You'd have to code it yourself, though. There's no simple hex edit for this kind of thing.

But a meter that likes to transform on you sounds kind of annoying to me. If you plan on moving around the meters and such, forget it -- it would only be a little bit harder to code than a border tile changing hack but it'd be really annoying for the players.

Don't bother with this King Bob-omb idea. Not only was the bomb tossing battle of SM64DS rather stupid in itself, but no one to my knowledge has ever accomplished a sprite hack of that magnitude.

Don't change the Big Boo's graphics. He floats around in circles and turns translucent. You could probably bomb the Big Boo Boss as-is, anyway. There'd be some glitches and you might have to repoint the Bob-omb's graphics but it'd work.

Okay, that's painfully wrong. Your palette choices were awful, your level design was annoying, there were lots of glitches, and a great deal of areas were hardly changed compared to the original. Bad choices lead to bad hacks, not bad tools.

In addition, not every first hack is bad. JAMH is Juggling Joker's first hack and it would seem to be quite popular. I'd also have to say that I'd rather be the jerkwad who criticizes a bad hack than the jerkwad who makes the bad hack and proceeds to spam about quitting hacking.

-POINT OF ADVICE-
Don't post until you get a better grasp on reality.

As for you, Andreicecold, my advice is to pay attention to gameplay. You know why Super Mario Brothers the original was popular? Primarily, it was because it played well. Fancy graphics or code hacks mean little without good gameplay.
