| If there were a way to make the Egg act like a goomba when you stepped on it, then made the Birdo non-spin-jumpable as well, you'd have a Birdo that you have to defeat by throwing its egg back at it. That'd be sweet. (edited by Glyph Phoenix on 11-22-06 04:49 PM) |

| I'd think if you took out the contrasting pointiness from the insides of the coral, it would look better. I still think Mario's got so much eyebrow he looks permanently angry, which is especially unfitting considering how relaxed everything looks. The cloud in the coral background doesn't tile quite right; I'd recommend either making the lower clouds less rough or making the upper clouds more rough. The palette choices and general SMW resemblance in the mountain area simply don't work at all.
The thwomp's face doesn't look quite right. Too much frown, not enough lip. I'd tint more as a rule: Isn't the vivid orange-blue-pink coral combination a little much? That said, the rest is... beautiful. That see-through monty mole blue tile, the YI-type platforms shaded pink so you can tell them apart next to the blue, the stone shading on the Thwomp and the blue pillars, the background of the coral set, it's amazing. The reason I don't make as many posts with a lot of depth in this topic as I should is because you should know how completely awesome your work is by now; everybody's saying it. And a post only containing bad things would be misleading. I'm tired of coming up with synonyms for 'really good' anyway. |

| I like both of those Marios better than the current one, actually. Don't know anything else I can say here...
The blue is still pretty contrasting and the coral is still cluttered. For the pink coral, you barely need a pattern at all on the inside. I'd go with a couple seashell-like ridges and leave it--that donut pattern isn't working out, man. It's the coral colors that are the problem, really. The pinkish palette almost fully ranges from black to white. The inside of a block expecially should never have such contrasting colors; that should be reserved for the edges. That door is pretty sweet, BTW. (edited by Glyph Phoenix on 11-29-06 04:57 PM) |

Also, don't get all Ailure on us now--nobody wants to hear what furries you'd hit. |

| Tracing is more difficult than it sounds?
Get off my internet! Nobody wants to open up a music garbling patch disguised as a real hacking thread or a piece of Cave Story fanart you conveniently forgot to mention was a trace job! Go away! (edited by Glyph Phoenix on 11-29-06 05:29 PM) |

This is utter crap. What possible good could come from teaching boys differently from girls?
Originally posted by Dr_Death16 Ha, as if most kids don't find ways to distract themselves with members of their own sex. Originally posted by Dr_Death16 So, what, boys get sports themed classes and girls get...what was it again? Hell, those stereotypes are so outdated and absurd I can't even remember how they go anymore. My point is that interests do not fall on sexes. You can play on what boys and girls statistically like, but that's just furthering gender roles. (edited by Glyph Phoenix on 11-29-06 07:18 PM) (edited by Glyph Phoenix on 11-29-06 07:19 PM) |

Originally posted by SpellWerdzRite But damn, you're going to town on SMAS: SMB. Way to be. You have to keep me posted on your developments so I can possibly implement them in my would-be editor. Yeah, I'm working on an editor for the Super Mario Bros. part of Super Mario All-stars. It's in such an early stage it's not even funny, however.
That's a half-baked code-window'd screenshot of all I have so far. It loads graphics and time for a level from ROM and I coded my own little UI for it. SWR was so kind as to lend me the level data he gathered, making my job infinitely easier--that means it shouldn't be too long before I whip up a basic level parser. | How, exactly, can you tell what method is going to work on a child simply by gender?
This is an interesting article. My opinion falls in with the ACLU spokesman. Separation due to unchangeable body features is bad no matter how you spin it. The picture they paint of girls forced to sit politely in a classroom with easy listening music while the boys can just do whatever scares the hell out of me. |

Spoiler (As the first to comment on this momentous occassion, I have to say...):...this is going to attract a lot of spam.
It is cool, though. That's probably why it'll do so. (edited by Glyph Phoenix on 12-01-06 03:07 AM) |

| I'm getting sick of this crap.
First, ASM isn't magic. You're limited by the processor speed, you're limited by the SNES's graphics modes and layers, and you're limited by SNES's RAM. You think you can do anything because it can do math? So can a calculator. Simion, your idea is beyond stupid. SMW is glitchy and poorly designed, and Lunar Magic, I suspect, is the only reason it's so popular for hacking. If you have the talent to make a halfway decent engine, why not an original one? The point is moot, though, because if you had talent of any sort you clearly wouldn't make a Game Maker SMW just because you don't like paletting. (edited by Glyph Phoenix on 12-03-06 12:22 AM) |

| I'm tired. Somebody finish this post for me. I would prefer it if it contained excessive profanity as per my writing style.
That 2 actually doubles the screen, BTW. And yeah, yeah, I see the glitchy tiles too. |

| Ahaha, this reminds me, in my Stupid Powerup patch, I remapped the P switch so it was a ! Switch. There are 4 colors based on the X position and depending on which switch you hit, the ! blocks responded in turn. Good times.
If you download the patch and open a patched rom in LM, you can try it out. I forgot all about it up until now. |

| No, but there's Crimson Editor. It has PHP support and toggleable finding brackets, and if you tell it where your PHP parser is you can have it parse your script all command-line-like with a push of a key. Any key, even.
Since it's not PHP-specific it's not what you asked, but it's what I use. It has tabs and everything yet is not hugely bloatastic. Plus, window splitter. Don't tell me that's not cool. Edit by Ailure: You forgot a citation mark in your post... swallowed the thread.
Edit by Glyph: Oh DAMN it. I caught it, but too late. (edited by Ailure on 12-14-06 04:34 PM) (edited by Glyph Phoenix on 12-14-06 04:37 PM) |

Alastor: You wouldn't think that would be a good combination, but hey, he was Vader. Also, I want to hear you saying "This is CNN." |

| It's hardly even a layout, it's really just a bar. Regardless, I'm sure I managed to make it fuck up people's browsers somehow.
And does the EXP meter even work? I can't tell. |

| Wily's SECOND stage theme from MM3 kicked even more. Spark Man and Wily Castle 3-4 are two of my favorite tracks in all of video gaming. Yes, MM3's soundtrack beats MM2's, but there's so much more than that.
Am I the only one who hated MM2's levels with a passion? I mean, fuck Crash Man's stage with its embarrassing disappearing blocks that made Magnet Man and Ice Man's stages look good. Fuck that boss where you had to break the walls with Crash Bombs and died if you ran out. MM3 was class. That whole doc robot thing was fun, if bizarre. Protoman made his first appearance. MM3's bosses were slightly better than MM2, although I admit in both they're all freaks--and there were more of them in MM3. Wouldn't you rather travel through the most annoying pits of Snake Man's stage or those clashing things of Hard Man's stage than, say, their annoying Bubble Man's stage counterparts in MM2?
