| The Pit of BS, huh? So, basically, you didn't even know what the original forum title was referencing.
That's hilariously lame. |

Well, the SMW and Pokemon approval system already in effect suggests projects but they're not absolutely necessary. I think sometimes approval is more of an excuse to check for decent spelling and grammar than anything else. ![]() |

| If they don't post in approval, how are we supposed to tell that they even want to post in hacking? Worse, if it's a new user with a name matching a popular member, how do you even know it's really that member and not some stupid spammer? Somehow a paragraph of "hi, you may know me since I made this" doesn't sound terribly degrading, either.
Hell, it's an ego boost when someone says "Well, of course we're going to approve you." (edited by Glyph Phoenix on 10-16-06 10:08 PM) |

| Be careful with that train of thought. Just because something costs money doesn't make it good. Norton is a good example: I would have thought Norton Antivirus 2004 would find more threats than other such utilities.
Guess what? It doesn't. Then I figured, "hey, Norton's updates are probably better than the others, though." Guess what? They stopped after six months and then I had to pay more. Then I figured, well, maybe I should just uninstall Norton... Guess what? That part didn't work either. I had to do it manually, as in registry-deleting manually otherwise my computer would throw errors in DOS mode when the comp started. I'm not entirely convinced that ALL propriety software doesn't suck, really. I just don't know of anything that doesn't have a purely freeware equivalent that's just as good, except for Adobe products. |

Er, what?

I was referring to Jigglysaint's post about experienced hackers not needing approval. Even for those who are more than qualified, with popular editors out, how is one to tell that the person is who they say they are unless they post? | Here's the full conversation for great justice.
[10:13:14 PM] Stylish Alastor: On a count you may care about [10:14:28 PM] Stylish Alastor: I have completed my game's engine engine, as well as the menus for it. And the story. [10:15:19 PM] Glyph Phoenix: farohagoihasfagrgh [10:15:30 PM] Stylish Alastor: You know I would never do anything I wasn't contractually obliged to do. [10:15:34 PM] Glyph Phoenix: Oh [10:15:37 PM] Glyph Phoenix: okay, that makes me feel better [10:15:51 PM] Stylish Alastor: Also, I'm totally half-assing it, as you'd know if you checked those links. [10:16:17 PM] Glyph Phoenix: Also, I have a comp too slow to check all those links right away [10:16:20 PM] Glyph Phoenix: You should totally know that [10:16:34 PM] Glyph Phoenix: But that game's awesome [10:16:40 PM] Glyph Phoenix: I gots to help you with your projects [10:16:43 PM] Glyph Phoenix: I want free college [10:16:45 PM] Glyph Phoenix: You have college [10:16:47 PM] Glyph Phoenix: Give me a free copy [10:19:41 PM] Glyph Phoenix: Wait, that game looks terrible [10:20:00 PM] Glyph Phoenix: That's not even half-assed, more like... one sixteenth of an ass [10:20:23 PM] Glyph Phoenix: Oh, I was so afraid you were out doing cool things and I wasn't [10:20:25 PM] Glyph Phoenix: But you're so not [10:20:43 PM] Glyph Phoenix: Relief! Anyway, yeah, those graphics are awful. I can't decide if the terrible graphics and/or plot are creating this awesome Kyouji-style effect ala most of the Kyouji is bored comics, or are just stupid nonsense like the rest of the Kyouji is bored comics. Also, that part about wanting to help with your games is serious. I'm not completely terrible at this sort of thing, you know? |

| Rom hackers to Jesus is quite a comparison.
Also, I didn't mean that automatic approval for known successes would be an ego boost, though it would. What I meant was that you seemed to think it was somehow wrong to force experienced hackers to ask for approval, like it was an insult. I was pointing out that in the approval threads for experienced hackers, it's really more of a complimentary thread like that one I posted above. Err, I should have checked that link. It's fixed now. |

| I so called it!
Every night, the disgruntled possums of the dead rise from their graves... er... roads... and attempt to kill, destroy, maim, and hang upside-down from trees! They also try to crash cars like those squirrels from that Geico commercial. |

| As if there was any doubt, I sweep the ACS again. I think I'll go for a hat trick. It's official. The flood gates are open.
And if you think that pun was painful, you just wait to see what depths I'll sink to in the coming ACS days. You just wait. |

| You mean like a post about the fallacy in calling a nontestable belief an absolute truth and those who disbelieve arrogant for not giving it the same recognition as scientific fact or theory? No way. Where's the fun in that? (edited by Glyph Phoenix on 10-20-06 04:26 AM) (edited by Glyph Phoenix on 10-20-06 04:27 AM) |

| Step right up, come on down! See the amazing cloak of invisibility! Put it around you and you are completely--and I say completely--hidden from human eyes! Only five dollars here! Five dollars!
What's that, sir? It doesn't work? I don't understand. I brought it to the freak tent and the Two-dimensional Microwave Eyes Man says it works perfectly. |
