The bg looks great. It helps distinguish the fg from the bg, so keeping it like that would be a good idea. Since it's darker, it also kind of helps give it an "eerie" feeling, in a way.

Also, for the prize block, like I said, I was rather unsure on that, so you can keep it how it is, if you want.

Keep it up. I'll await the arrival of your demo.

Not bad. I haven't any actual gameplay errors, but I noticed a lot of graphical ones.

-Hatless Mario's duck and die graphics: When hatless Mario ducks or gets hit, he suddenly has a hat. Nothing major, but you still might want to fix that.
-Hatless Luigi: You need to tighten his palette; the top of his hair is off-color.
-Mario Hat "Mushroom": Just an idea, but perhaps you can change its palette to match the current player's pallette. That way when Luigi picks up a hat, it doesn't suddenly turn from red to green. Just a thought.
Hatless Mario ducking while holding an item: You forgot to change its graphics. I was holding a shell and ducked, and he suddenly looked like little Mario.

Otherwise, nice job. If you need a beta tester, you can call me.

I'm currently working on a vertical level on level 10B. I made a level exit for 10C, but every time go through it, it brings me back to the main entrance of level 10B. Any idea on what I'd be doing wrong?

Definitely. I haven't done any asm hacking at the moment, and the pipe is exactly on the top-right of the screen where the exit is located. I'm guessing it could be the fact that I used a vertical level for it, but I'm betting that's highly unlikely.

Yep, I'm certain. I checked the next level, and they're both different.

Sure you aren't using a primary exit instead of a secondary one?
That, I haven't checked. I'll have to see when I get an opportunity.

Maybe just try to move the pipe a little bit more to the middle part of the screen, or take a look at this:

This a a screen from the original SMW. See, what Nintendo did? The exit-enabled pipe is in screen 3, but they used screen 2 for the exit, too. (There is no exit-enabled pipe in screen 2, so why is the screen set up like this?) - You should try that.

In the one level I am making right now, if you go down the first pipe (currently unlinked to anything), it'll take you back to the entrance of the level from whence you came

Yeah, that happens quite often with unlinked pipes. It happens also very often that a unlinked pipe leads to a completely other level for whatever reason.
Hey, thanks! I tried your solution and it worked. Also, thanks to those who gave me advice me troubleshoot the problem.

I'll be sure to remember this for later levels (as well as the advice others gave me) so I don't end up going wtf when something goes wrong.

Well, think about it; Bowser's crashed into bombs, burned in lava, and has been beaten by Mario eighty-seven times, yet he still is alive and well. If he can mysteriously withstand that and feel well after all those injuries, suddenly having a crapload of kids should be no problem for him.

It's not like he always has time to make comics, you know. Heck, I have a ton of projects, and I'm rarely able to get on the computer.

He's right. Your best option is to cut down on the mp3s and instead use some more midis in your RPG. I don't think many people would want to download a teaser for twenty minutes.

Plus, like I said, I can voluntarily make some midis for your game if you wanted me too. Give me the theme, and I'll give you sound as good as the rpg's default.

Pretty much. That's been plainly proven by RMXP's default selection.

You could probably convert the MP3 files into other, smaller formats. I think that can be done... I remember converting being possible, but I'm not sure if it would end up being a smaller file or not.
If you mean converting it into a smaller size mp3, that'd probably decrease the quality in the song. If you mean into a different format, perhaps, but I can't fully remember which filetypes RMXP takes, so I don't know.

Yep, I downloaded them all. Sorry it took so long to reply; I just got out of spring break, so I that kinda cut down on my time.
Anyway, I must say, that's a lot more mp3s than I expected. ... Of course, I probably should have expected it, seeing the default selection was also wide.

So, how many midis do you want me to make out of them, and when would be the latest you want them done? I'll see how I can work it out, and cut down my time on other projects, if necessary.

This program is awesome; pretty customizable as well. I'm making a whole bunch of levels with it already.

I've noticed the two "sprites" since I first started hacking. Although it would make more sense (in my opinion, anyway) to change the name of the ROM sprite to something like SRO (sub-routine object), I would think it better to leave it how it is. The term I have adjusted to completely, and, besides, it wouldn't make much of a difference. We can just call it a "sprite", in which term I'm certain most of us have distinguished anyway.

That crossed my mind as well. It could be like those thunder lakitus from Yoshi's Island. I've never used a hex editor before, but if it isn't beyond me, I would try that myself.

Hey, I was simply noticing the board and the hack sucked. Although I stated the only reason I'd join them would be to point out their flaws, I'm definitely not just going to just do so and say "U GUYS SUXXORZ LOLOLOLOL" and get myself banned immediately from there or anything. Gimme a break.

Well... I was going to post to this earlier, but then I kept getting mixed up in my post by disorganization of what I was saying, so I thought, "Ah, screw it," and decided not to. So, I'm gonna try again. Ahem:

Personally, I have not played any of your previous hacks. However, I have looked at their threads and demo pictures, and yes, this does look better. I noticed a few odd things in the hack, but those were already spotted by others. I would suggest having someone else translate the text to English and make that a separate version.

"Aftwerwards, I copied a tile over using the 8x8 tile editor window. However, when I set the bg back to its original graphics, it just showed up as a bunch of garbage."

Truthfully, I'm not sure if that's an accurate rewording, but it seems to fit what he's saying.

I think Spikehead covered the rest, so, uh... *poof*
