| If you mean that your background isn't showing up, then your problem must be that you didn't use mode 0A, which is a vertical level with layer two as the background. You must have used a mode that includes interactive objects in layer two. | |||

| Due to the fact that the old thread got long enough, I decided to start a new thread so that the old one doesn't get even more cramped. If you would, moderators, consider this a checkpoint thread and lock the old "Group hack, anyone?" thread.
Anyway, I have emailed most of my staff the ips patch and save data. Terry, since your email wasn't shown anywhere, I wasn't able to email you the patch. Please send me your email so I can send you the patch. Anyone else who didn't get the patch, please tell me, and I'll try to resend it. Although the demo release date is yet to be confirmed, my mini-website is quite ready. Ladies an gentlemen, may I present to you the incomplete site of Mario and Luigi: The Great Exodus. Some of the pages are missing, but I'll include them soon. In the meantime, search around. SK26, update your bookmarks. Discuss. |

Originally posted by Lemon de man That really isn't much of an excuse. It's actually very easy to edit it using that. All you have to do is open Mario World Reconfigurator (yes, do it), select the key sprite (sprite 80), then edit graphic byte 1. You can study other enemies' graphic bytes to learn which hexadecimal code is what color. For example: 0A: Green Koopa Color 08: Red Koopa Color 06: Blue Koopa Color 04: Yellow Koopa Color 20: Key Color |

Ow. ;
Man, that was a ton more criticism than I expected. Well, I first want to say, I'm sorry for the terrible quality of my hack. I haven't done hacking in an extremely long time, and this is my only hack that's ever been announced in public. Originally posted by Golden Yoshi No, they won't. Instead of Bullet Bill shooters, I put in a Bullet Bill Generator. This might have made a little too easy (or not), but I could probably put in a harder version of the level somewhere else, too. I probably don't to do that, though, for originality purposes. As for the bg pipes, I'll replace them with something more sight-worthy. Originally posted by (GGS) Cruel JusticeSorry. I'll put in more tomorrow. Well, actually... no. It was supposed to be a blue cave, but, well... I guess I suck at gfx. Originally posted by INSERT COINTechnically, we don't. It would be very useful, but it isn't vital. Don't fret, though, I'll organize this exgfx thing soon enough. Originally posted by SonicandtailsWell, there's still time. If you want to be in, you're in. ZTaimat has officially quit, and I apparently can't do crap a gfx's worth, so be my guest. To ZTaimat Switch Level: Hey, sorry. The only reason I editted your level was because it seemed too plain (and the level forced the player to die if he didn't have all of the switches). I did my best to make you couldn't cheat through the level. Plus, I don't know how you could do that. If you want, I'll replace my level with yours. New Goomba: Freaky mutant nail?? The new goomba is supposed to look like the one from SMB3, except not facing the screen. Tell me how this looks like a nail. New Block: Explain. Anyway, I'm sorry for the way this hack is turning out. I promise to get things more organized very soon. |

| Don't worry. I'm not giving up unless everyone else gives up.
Anyway, I didn't have time to update my mini-website, but I'll have that updated in about fifteen minutes. Also, I just thought of something: for each group in this hack, I have group directors, correct? Why not add a quality controller in each group? For example, in the gfx section, all the gfx editors can send their gfx to the quality controller of that group, and he can improve on those graphics. As some of you may guess, I am not going to be a quality controller. After the critique I got, I'm quite sure that I'll only make a monstrosity of things. _¬ |

Excuse me for being gone so long. My forums broke down, and I had to rebuild them. I actually got more done on those boards than I planned.
Originally posted by Shane -26- Thank you for your support.
Anyway, I guess I'll leave the Goombas how they are. As for the new cement blocks - which, might I add, are extremely pallette flexible - I'll try and work on them and improve the graphics. I'll send you guys a screenshot when I'm done. Overall, I still need to work on this hack a lot more. Since winter break is coming up, I should be able to get a lot done. |

| I would also like the music editor.
I have a question, though - would it be possible to put in Genesis music on a Super Mario World hack? I'm supposing not, but if I were to insert Ristar music, I wonder how it would sound.... Well, even if you couldn't put Genesis music in, I could just use midis and insert them. I'm a midi expert anyway, so that ought not to be too hard. ...which brings up another question. Is there / will there be a way to make midis loop at a certain point, rather than just repeat the song, beginning to end? |

Originally posted by HHH3 Okay, seriously, wtf? WTF? What in the world is your problem? First off, this is an old thread. If you wanted to replay, you should have done it in Topic Two. Second, I'm not trying to create a Zelda 2-based hack. I have no idea why you think I'm trying to make that. Third off, don't you damn well call me lazy. For your information, I brought up the decision of a group hack because I was thinking that wasn't done before. Also, I spend hours daily on my multi-source website, which means I make midis, comics, forums, and tons more crap. You try doing that. In short, quit flaming me. It's bad enough that this has proved unpopular so far; the last thing I need is unconstructive criticism from the likes of you. (edited by Blue Warrior on 12-27-05 01:19 AM) |

| Why do you find that unbelievable? People put hard work into their sprites - they have the right to choose whether or not other people should use it.
Also, Nintendo has allowed roms on the Internet (excluding limitations), so they would have put a lawsuit on us if they didn't like us using their stuff. |

| Blue Warrior, who is walking across the castle, is surprised to see Ansem waiting for him.
"Well, this is unexpected. *pause* Well, I guess you'll want me to make the first move, so I may as well...." Blue Warrior leaps over Ansem and uses one of his two blasters to triple-shot down at him. Landing, he carefully watches for Ansem's next move in order to put his agility to the test. | Yes, but there is a difference. The person who made their own work put time and effort into it while the person who is using it did not. The person who made it isn't getting anything out of it, especially if no credit is given to him/her. | |||

| Actually, I just thought up another example: Let's say your name is Bob. You made... a lego model. It was totally frikkin' awesome, so you put up a piece of cardboard paper with the lego model which read, "Best Lego Model Ever, Created by Bob."
Then, someone (let's call him George) stole your lego model and rewrote the cardboard paper to read, "Best Lego Model Ever, Created by George." Not only did he steal something that you owned, he took all of the credit too. ...as for an optional part of the story, people sacrificed him to the gods. The moral of this example is that, not only does someone who steals artwork not put any effort into it, they also take all the credit. Any sequencers from VG Music like me would know this well, as plagiarism is quite frowned upon there. This is why you must ask the person for permission before you use his/her stuff. Or else, crap will hit the fan - or, in other words, poopoo will hit the perverbial blade. |

| Scarcely damaged by the head attack, he thought to himself, Dang, when my friends said I had a hard head, they weren't kidding.
Deciding to charge his next attack up, he decided to maneuver around by wall-jumping the insides of the castle, making it hard for Ansem to hit him. |
