| I recently bought the newly released Mario Kart DS. There was tonnes of hype surrounding this game, because it features Nintendo's newly release Nintendo WiFi service, which lets you play against people accross the world.
I've yet to try this feature, and doubt I'll ever do so. I actually upgraded from dial-up to 512k broadband just for this. Okay, so 512k doesn't sound like much, but it's the best internet connection you'll find within Australia without having to pay around $70 U.S. a month. I don't even know if I'll even be able to try out WiFi thanks to my shiity connection (compared to the rest of the world), which is a fucking huge dissapointment. Now I'm stuck on a 2 year contract and I don't even know if I'll be able to use it for what I wanted. Hell! I couldn't even play Little Fighter 2 with Stifu!
Now to the actual game: It in no way lives close up to it's hype. The game isn't bad or anything, but it's just nothing special. It's your average Mario Kart game, but with an added Mission Mode, where you do normal racing skill-type things and get a rank based on how fast you did it. Some missions are pretty damn hard to get a 3-star rating in, but I guess that adds to longetivity. I've been a member of the Nintendo Official Forums for a while, and a few people have mentioned that you don't get any reward what-so-ever for getting a 3-star rating in all of the missions. This is a fucking huge let down... What's the point? Every character has quite a few karts to unlock, which is alright. I've yet to unlock any, actually. Plus there are 6 other characters to unlock. That's definately a plus!
Some of the old-style remixed music will bring back some memories, but other than that, the music isn't anything special. Graphics-wise, the game looks a little better than Mario Kart 64, but nothing overly awesome. Overall, the game isn't bad, but definately isn't great. This game certainly isn't the "killer app" Nintendo fans had hoped for, what with the poor functions of the WiFi service and all. There is no chat, no way to exchange WiFi codes (so you can add enjoyable opponents to your own friends list), and no consequences for quitting out of an online battle if you're losing halfway through the final race. Yep! If you think you're going to lose, and you don't want a loss on your permanent record, just turn off your Nintendo DS, and you'll have a perfect record! Despite all the downsides, if you're a Mario Kart fan, get this game. It'll dissapoint you slightly, but overall, it's not a "bad" game. I'll give it a 7 out of 10.
P.S. I only bought this game several hours ago, and have played it for maybe 4 hours. I'm also drunk right now, so bite me. ![]() |

Yeah. I made a mistake.
Only four secret characters. I'm glad to hear that my internet connection shouldn't be a problem. Thanks
Now we'll see how fun this game really can get!
I'm up to doing the 100cc cups, and it's pretty annoying. Sometimes the AI are in-humanly fast, or patheticly slow. It'd be nice to have a leveled playing field for a change.
Battle Mode would totally kick ass if I could find other people with DSes. Ah well.
Yeah. Sure, we could make a list of people who constantly drop out when they're losing, but there'll always be fresh people in the world for these said people to challenge. At least it'll stop our frustration. But I've recently also read that players get penalised for quitting now, which is fantastic news! Someone on Nintendo's Official Forums said that 3 losses got put on their permanent record! ![]() |

Tell us everything that happened! This is the Officer's Club after all. We're here to help
Did your asshole ex use you in any other way? If he was going to do something bad to his cousin, and you warned the guy, then that's hardly a reason to break up with someone! Not every guy is an asshole. Always remember that!
There are tonnes of self-loving, vane, try-hard guys out there, but most people on this board aren't one of 'em.
I used to think that all girls are sluts, and only like guys with big musscles, and a try-hard kind of confindence. I'm sorry about your loss though. He's a fucking loser, and just hope to god that he never finds anyone who's willing to love him again. Hope that he gets fucked over again and again by sleezy whores who steal his money, say he has a teensy-weensy small penis, and breaks his heart for many years to come. People like those don't deserve you. ![]() |

| I saw a TV commercial for the X-Box 360, and the thing that made me laugh, was right at the start of the ad, they said "The innovative new X-Box 360!"
...Innovative? The only thing new they're doing is touching up the graphics! Nintendo are the only ones trying unique things -- Things that will actually change the way we play games. Okay, so from a graphics point of view, the X-Box 360, and the PS3 will |

| Geez! This is just reminding me of the stereotype of "Kyle's mom is a big fat bitch", who always found something to complain about.
It's been pretty bad here in Australia too. Some losers are even complaining about the Santa at malls, how the children sit on his knee.
"OH NOEZ!!!1shift+1. SANTA IS GOT A BONER!!" Hell! My brother and I as very young children had a photo taken of us on "Santa" at the mall, and we were fine! ...Well, actually, it looked like I had a fresh big turd in my nappy. ![]() |

I kicked ass on 2000 BPM... *Cough*
Binary is my newest favorite song!
Freakin' awesome!
Is it possible to AA that one? I'm getting closer to it, but doubt I'd ever get all the way. A'ing it no problem though, is that any good? But a very fun song to play none-the-less. ![]() |

| Got a little confused for a second there.
Oni is the same as Challenge in Stepmania, huh?
Just tried it again in C400 for the first time. It made it quite abit easier.
I'm uber-proud of myself. I'm so close! Karadur's Mine The only impossible part I found with this one, is towards the end, a couple of the very rapid left, right steps have a double at the end. I can never get all of 'em when there's that bastard double there.
So am I any good? *Begs to know* |

Aww man!! I AA'd it, forgot to take a screen, tried it again, and was on a roll, but made a couple of stupid mistakes before the end.
AA'd it still, but I was about to be the best at something.
Beat his Max Combo though.

I've attempted Binary quite a few more times, but I've since been playing much worse than usual. I had some problems with my sound card software, and had to download the full thing all over again. Crappy thing is -- is that it doesn't even have 5.1 sound as an option, unlike the previous software. Everything just doesn't sound as good, and it's quite annoying. Anyway! Good job!
I've been trying to download Stardust, but it seems to cut out about halfway through, and everytime I try to continue the download through DAP (downloading program), it doesn't even want to start up! I'll try again now though. P.S: Scatt-Man is the name I go by on other forums and MSN.
Bee bop-bop bottop bop...I'm the Scatt-Man! ![]() |

A couple of the songs in that list really appeal to me -- mainly Legend of Zelda - Dance Mix Legend of Nintendo Super Mario World (Piano) Megaman Techo Remix You wouldn't happen to remember where you downloaded them from, do you? I've only really downloaded from flashflashrevolution.com and hadn't noticed them in their lists. Are you always interested in feedback, Rankatt? Well, incase you are: I didn't really find Stardust very enjoyable. No way near as good as Binary.
I'm suprised by how many of your simfiles I have in my list and didn't even know of. Incase I'm wrong -- you're Hiryuu, right? Incredible job with almost every one of your sims!
Keep it up! Oh! And quite a while ago, I think you mentioned something about an incredibly long mix of songs in one sim? I think you said something about this being your third one or something. Nonstop Megamix! That's the one! How's that coming along? |

| I apologise if all of my questions were intimidating.
Stardust isn't a bad job, it's just that it's alot more random (I guess you could put it) compared to Binary. In Binary, you could tell when something 'tricky' was coming up, but in Stardust, it seems that 'tricky' places were thrown in at random places. 'Trickiness' is a good thing in some was. I had to get used to bad timing in DDR5: Remix using ePSXe (emulation), but in that, you only have to get used to a slight time delay, but Stardust -- it's pretty damn hard to predict when a 'tricky' moment is coming up. You wouldn't happen to know where I can download this 2MB Megamix from, would you? It sounds pretty tempting.
When I'm sober, and not busy, I'll link everyone to a couple of sims I really like from flashflashrevolution. Probably won't be untill Boxing Day ofcourse. As for ideas -- I have only one. If you've ever played Megaman 3, you no doubtedly have the title screen theme song imbedded into your head. There's a techno remix to that song that the administrator of Stifu's Board (named "Stifu" ) sent me quite a while back. He just gave me the link to the song again, and thought maybe you'd be interested.
Right Here! |

| A Cure to All Your Troubles
Snaking This little skill will enable you to beat those horrid staff ghosts in Time Trial, along with giving you a much better chance at winning your standard Gran Prix race. It basically involves a light character, with low Drift, high Acceleration, and low Top Speed. I reccomend Yoshi and his Poltergust 4000 kart, or if you havn't unlocked it yet, go with his Egg 1 kart. Pick a simple track, say Baby Park, Luigi Circuit, Figure-8 Circuit, or Star Cup's Mario Circuit. I also highly reccomend that you play on 50cc at first just to learn this. You get more roaming area when you're slower. We all know how to get a turbo from power sliding, right? It gives you quite a boost! Well, snaking is just getting that said boost over and over again on a straight. 1) While driving down a straight, slightly drive towards the right side of the straight (maybe at around a 15° - 20° angle). 2) As you're edging closer to the side of the road, perform a powerslide to the left. Whilst in this slide, quickly try to pull off a turbo boost. 3) Just as you're finishing the first boost, immediatly get to work on the second. Just do it again in the opposite direction. Now you can see why it's called "snaking"
Just think about it like you're powersliding through a snake-turn in the road, see?
Be sure to practice on 50cc though. It's way too hard to learn on the higher difficulties. Once you get the feel of your kart, and how quickly you can repeat the boosts, you'll become a master in no time! Power-turboing on straights and turns is what'll give you your wins. Your losing opponents will be sure to complain about "Snaking is Cheeting" on Nintendo's official forums. LEARN IT!!! |

A quick Google search told me that it's something to fool the game into thinking that you're still on your starting turbo boost, allowing you to drive over grass, sand and other slowing tiles without actually losing speed. I'd love to know this trick! I feel like I'm a good snaker, and yeah...advice from here told me to try out Dry Bones + Dry Bomber, and have realised that he kicks Yoshi's ass! Not too long now untill I'll try and give Alastor a run for his time. Just hope my connection will be good enough to enable matches with people halfway across the world. Anyone from say, Sweden challenged anyone from the U.S yet? Or maybe the U.K vs. the U.S? If so -- what connections did you have, and did it lag? *Is mega-paranoid* 512k is my connection BTW |

I was kinda in a similar situation a while ago. Everyone here probably remembers me from the K.T's Club for the Lonely Hearted thread back in the last board. I had always been shy, always had bad experiences, and never thought I'd get anywhere with a girl that I actually liked. I was also a virgin too, BTW.
Started talking to a girl I knew back in high school over MSN. I knew she had a boyfriend, and was uber-jealous about it. I later found out that he was a mega-asshole. * Shitty Looks * Shitty Personality and CONFIRMED * Shitty in Bed. We're talking about a 10 second man here. She knew she was in a mistake relationship too. We kissed abit, and about a week later, we started "going out". All was well, except he was still living in the house with her, her father, and her brother...even sleeping in the same bed! (Boy! Did that shock the hell out of everyone here. ) She assured me many times that nothing happens, and that nothing had happened in almost a year, so I had nothing to worry about.
Eventually he moved, and he now lives on the other side of the country. My girlfriend doesn't speak with him anymore, too!
Everything's been going wonderfully! Yesterday was our 5 month anniversary. Can you believe it's been 5 months already?
Okay! Now you really should try, man! Better to have loved and lost to never have loved at all, right? Ofcourse -- That in no way inplies that I think this thing won't work. That's just stupid. I slapped myself (not litteraly) on the forhead when I read about your nervousness when you two came close to kissing. The first time is ALWAYS the hardest. When I first kissed Jayde (my girlfriend(which wasn't even my first kiss)), I was so nervous that I was shaking!
She thought she'd done something wrong, and chances are; your girlfriend thinks she's done something wrong too. As soon as your lips meet, everything'll come naturally. Your girlfriend can correct any minor faults with your kissing afterwards, okay? ![]() |

| Personally, I've not once avoided a Blue Shell. It just seems impossible!
I've heard all of the ways of going about it, too: * Use a Mushroom just before it hits you to boost out of the way. This never works. No matter what your speed, the Blue Shell will stay on your ass. * Throw anything that can be thrown (I.E: Bomb, Fake Item Box, Banana) into the Blue Shell just as it hovers over your head. I've grown accustomed to attempting to throw things into the Blue Shell before it hits, but I've never succeeded. * Throw a Banana or anything that you could quickly run into to spin yourself out just before the Blue Shell hits. While spinning, the Blue Shell will be effective. Seriously...WTF?
How the hell are you supposed to time that!? You normally don't even recognise that there's a Blue Shell on your ass untill it's too late. Are you supposed to just guess the timing? Or do you just throw whatever's in hand as soon as you see the Blue Shell on the bottom screen? In other news: * I'll be buying a wireless router pretty soon, so I can kick all your asses.
* I've currently got a tripple star ranking on every cup of every CC class except for three: 150CC Mirror Star Cup (double star) 150CC Mirror Special Cup (double star) **EDIT** (Plus two more Cups done )
I officially made the game lag! Never experienced that much lag on any cart/card game before!
It was in Star Cup's Mario Circuit, and I somehow ended up way back in 8th. The Fire Phirana Flower thingoes shot out their fireballs, and 6 characters were all bundled up together. It was a funny site just overtaking 6 slow-ass characters. But yeah! As I was overtaking them, the game lagged really bad.
**EDIT** I'm now part of the 3-star group. Man! That last one was incredibly frustrating! I came from 8th to 1st on Rainbow Road. Luckily, at the start of the 3rd lap, while I was in second, someone launched a Blue Shell, which sealed my fate as for me staying in first. I feel pretty proud of myself.
Now, when I have my first WiFi match, people will know I rox0rz even though I'll have a 0/0 record. ![]() (edited by Scatterheart on 01-08-06 05:55 PM) |

That's what it was based off of.
Songs I can play on piano: SM64 Jolly Roger Bay/Dire, Dire Docks Super Mario 64 Ending Theme Bob-Omb Battlefield NES Original Mario Theme ofcourse!
I really like the title screen music for Yoshi's Island, too. Hated it when I first bought the game, but it does take quite a while for the music to get "kick-ass". I was also suprised by how catchy the tune from Sky Gardens in Mario Kart: Super Curcuit was. ![]() |

Never knew Luigi had a skill like that!
Is it easily pulled off? To me, it looks like you have to FALL off a ledge, followed by across + B, then jump, then down + B, then JUMP AGAIN(?), then up + B. It looks very quick though. |
