A lesser crime granted (only cause you're left alive...some of the time) but still fucking severe. If you were to say that to a rape victim though youd most likely be castrated.
Games often take their cues from cinema such as the plotlines of organised crime films which have been around for decades. Cinema since the days of tarentino have shown killing to be saddening and also showed the comedy of the situation characters are placed in. Films that portray rape do so as an incredibly horrible crime and have never shown it to be something to laugh about. You claim the next logical step is rape to be a playable aspect of games and to be FUN?! Somehow i doubt it.

I see what ya saying about the violence of games but really whats the point. Youd be better off not releasing anything at all. And it certainly doesn't help the community in anyway to have yet another humourous take on today's soceity and it's acceptance of violence.

Its not about people being harmed its about your attitude. Youre more or less saying rape is something to laugh about and making a game out of it is somehow amusing. You know what that makes u..an ignorant turd. Enjoy your comedy.

hmm interesting comments.

Clockwork Orange wasnt trying to be funny though. that film is meant to be shocking which is far from funny. On the other hand Jomb you seem to make out the hack is funny so what i want to know is did u find the rape in Clockwork Orange funny?

I consider myself to have a warped sense of humour. Just not when rape is concerned. Then again if i could be arsed to play it i would. How much have u actually changed in this hack other than the text?

for zcompress its not that hard really. for me only 2 commands are ever used (which are decompress and recompress into the rom) and as for directing it to the program/rom/gfx files themselves you can just drag the file from its folder into the command prompt and it will fill out its exact location on ur hard drive. e.g. c:/zelda/gfx/zelda3.smc for me.

One of the popular ones was the Secret level which can be found on my here: http://digg.com/gaming/Super_Mario_64_DS_Test_level_found_buried_in_the_ROM
I dont get where your logic is coming from. the hack u claim to have added to Mario 64 DS is a test llevel found in the game right? whereas vl-tone's editor will allow u to edit all kinds of things not just unlock unknown stuff.

I should probably start looking for my copy of Mario 64 today

i think the fact the editor is going to be a beta suggests reasoning behind the whole lack of functions..none of which will be an issue. think of it this way... u get to edit existing objects making the levels completely different (think new islands in bob-omb battlefield) and any issues we come across while trying out this awesome editor will no doubt be collected and fixed by vl-tone in the next version. Mario 64 is a massive game in comparrison to the stuff we're all used to editing so this'll give us a chance to get used to object manipilation and how all the editor functions work. then when it gets updated the new hacks released will become far superior... hopefully :|

looking forward to it VL-Tone keep it up but don't worry about the delay

i wasnt talking about the actual island thats already there. vl-tone already said loads of levels contain island type objects like whomps fortress or bowsers levels.

If everything is handed to u on a plate then its not really hacking is it? very similar to lunar magic.. it being able to do everything meant we got a stupid abundance of crap hacks which at first were great cause it was something new. but they'll eventually get tedious. im looking forward to some of the really good mario design i know hackers here are capable of.

Oh and claiming vl-tone as god is incorrect.. Miyamoto is god vl-tone is maybe one of his deciples.

As far as i was aware expanding the rom is fine and will work in Hyrule Magic but it doesnt let u add anymore sprites/items. Also removing items then adding them back in can cause pretty severe glitches. sprites are fine though

Once again i cant look at the darn page cause mine only goes up to 32... grrr. Next time quote or link the post...
As for yoshi i think Mario Sunshine pretty much proved that he has absolutely no purpose in a 3D Mario game unless he's actually playable. Then he's just damn cool.
First thing im gonna do with the editor will be to make a ninja mario course...to test out his skillz!

Here are the complete list of coloured trees in Hyrule... regular green, yellow, purple, pink, blue, swampy green and my favourites the white.

The trees are actually going for a mystical ancient style..kinda fairytale-ish. My hack will all be based in the light world (except for specific sections) and they are a good contrast between the darker areas of hyrule and the light. They do look more snowy than mystical so thats most likely where ill end up using them...

As for the tops of them i took ur advice and changed them a little to make it look less botchy on the top. Removing the bits completely resulted in the trees looking flat. I took the trees from Minish Cap so converting them has resulted in several limitations becoming apparent. mainly palettes.

Your critique as always is appreciated.

All those elements can only be changed in hex/asm. None of them are accessible in Hyrule Magic. A pain i know but sadly thats the issue with editing a link to the past.

*sigh*

Well is there a guide or something to using it in Zelda 3? I've never used something like that.
The only specific guide to working with zelda 3 is Zelda 3 Assembly which is basicly lessons taught to me by Euclid. Its a start to finish thing so it shouldnt be taken lightly. otherwise the information there wont make much sense to you at all.

Thankyou everyone for the great words. I take all ur posts into account. The trees have now been designated to specific area types and yes i agree white does not work in a grassy ranch. So theyll stick to my snow area.

The swamp trees do look best so ive put them in place of the white for the ranch area.

In the pic youll notice the new asm work ive been doing which is yet to be completed..Hence the reason the area name is constantly on. currently working to have it timed which is testing my knowledge Also cliffs are courtesy of Orochimaru and the water is a work in progress. Once again i think the white is a little too garish.

Comments as always are welcome.

Thing is not all of the special events in zelda have been documented. The castle gate is easy enough to remove completely but certain elements like the dark woods entrance is quite tricky to do...remove yes but move no. You have to take the location, special fire effect, replacement tiles (to show the entrance destroyed) and also the earthquake effect that takes place. I mean i can move the entrance but without all those extras it just looks shit.

could u lighten up the bottom ones a little? the top rocks look like theyll blend in too much with the background but at the moment the bottom are my favourite.

As for a water texture for my hack theres certain issues with the limit on animated tiles. If i do stick in a texture itll use up way too much space ive got to use for clouds, beach and torches in the overworld. Also at the moment animated tile speeds are all connected. The waterfall and flowers look fine but animated water looks way too fast.

A legend of Zelda 3 hack which would be a mercenaries (resident evil) type challenge game. Upon loading the game it would give u a list of arenas to start where u would be thrown into an area with continuously regenerating enemies. On the screen would be a kill counter and within each room would be a select number of items to use against the enemies. Perhaps the enemies would appear in waves or just be continuously appearing.

Surviving for a set amount of time or for a set amount of kills would unlock another arena in the list. The arenas would be based in both the overworld and the underworld.
