:LOL Thats halarious. This is meant to be a spoof hack thread right dude man? I mean everything from the fantasticly tricky hack of SMB1 to the way you seem to have purpously spelt things incorrectly and capatilised the whole post.

No body has so accurately spoofed a newbie hacker before... Kudos.

Excellent work. Ill finally be able to create the same track i made with the Expansion Kit and share it with everyone. It was a short track but with 30 racers it tooks its toll with all the bumps and jumps but without making it impossible for the cpu.

The options will be endless. Keep it up BGNG.

Ah my favourite megs game. Protoman looks cool and the life is nicely done. I hope you intend to do some level changing. New Protoman specific levels would be cool (whatever they would be).

One word of advice though. Youre no meant to post a url link to a rom. even though the url is not directly linked to it i still dont believe its allowed.

woohoo new z3 editor progress...MON your the man.

Granted ill give you the patience statement but as for events they can actually be skipped. You can skip certain requirements like pendants by having them obtainable in one dungeon alone.

try using something like snestool to remove the z3 rom header and then adding it again. This could make it readable in zcompress again. Worked for me.

also a another glimpse of my work in progress the Legends of Hyrule.

Seeing as your dungeon editing i thought id grab a post of Orochimaru and repost it here... dam helpful advice you should follow.

Dungeons are a rigerous part of the hacking process. In order to make yours appealing and usually working well, here's some tips that you should consider:
> Make a theme or something special about most of you dungeons. An example of a good theme would be an old castle, a torture chamber, etc.
> Choose a basic blockset for enemies, objects, and walls. These three sets will help express the theme of your dungeon. Make sure though that every room has the same blocksets or you will run into glitches. The safest way to use different blocksets in different rooms is if they are separated by staircases (Meaning you have to go up or down stairs to reach the next room).
> If you plan on using warps then you should keep the same blockset throught the whole dungeon because when you use a warp point the blockset is not reloaded.
> Try to make your palletes look match the blocksets, especially with enemies.
> Try to mix up the bosses in the game. Don't be afraid to put Mothula as the first boss. Although it would be smart to leave bosses like TriNexx for later since they need the rods to be defeated.
> Bosses health and attack power can be changed with Euclids Hyrule Addons Editor, take advantage of that. There are many other ways to make a boss harder or easier. The best way to find out is to play the original, fight the boss and record what made them easy or hard. So to make them harder we can cover the corners and maybe put blocks in the middle to keep people from hiding.
> Try to avoid putting warps on BG2, sometimes after going through them, the enemies will dissapear.
> When inserting doors, make the special doors (Bombable, Locked, Unopenable') first. Otherwise they are bound to not work.
> **DO NOT TOUCH THE ROOM ZELDA IS IN!** There is no point is messing with this room, it's hardcoded and could glitch up the rest of the game if changed too much.
> The intro is hardcoded, it'll be easy to change the room which it loads, but do keep in mind that the dead king is a sprite and will always stay in that same spot. Same goes with the room Zelda's is. You don't have to put Zelda in that room, you can always "obsolete" that room.
> The rom has bunchs of rooms where they *have* to use the same room header (Can be changed, will take long but not possible to have one header for each room.), try to find them out, group them into one dungeon (So you don't have to worry about them later on).
> There's certain rooms where going right/left, doesn't mean you're going to the room to the right/left. I have no idea what happens but it always tend to happen when you have a move left or right in a room which you have to first jump down after entering the dungeon (A good exemple of this is the Hyrule Palace).
> There are blocksets where Ice is actually Water, so beware.
> The special doors (Bombable, Locked, Unopenable), have a limit, I believe it's 8 in total, the rest have to be opened.
> One more note on putting "down" doors, sometimes they turn out to be dungeon exits which crashs the game, 00 - Open is always safe though.
> Some people are usually annoyed when their BG2 refuses to save. Click the room headers (More button up the top) then press ok and save again. It should save now.
> The Kill boss again tag only works on the last level, but there's a way around it through asm.
> Only Room 0 can be the last level, don't try to mimic it, you'll just move up one room instead.
> More related to the overworld but, don't try to mimic the Water Palace in the Dark World, you can even get rid of those water thingy, they tend to be annoying at hacking.

When i first saw the pictures i immediately remembered rush 'n' attack on the NES which i always loved for its quirky gameplay.

Id prefer it not to go the direction of metal gear i never really liked the series since it went overly storyline, however a callback to metal gear on the NES would be sweet. Any hero who can punch through solid brick wall deserves an applause.

A mech tank is probably a good thing seeing as bowsers fireblasts can easily be converted to say a rocket.

The Legends of Hyrule (formerly Dodongo's Gold and then formerly again Forsaken War) is well under way. Ive been taking lessons in ASM and have made a couple of discoveries already which will give me more freedom with the overworld.

The GFX for the overworld is at a level now that im pleased with and has freed up a lot of room to make my hack very varied. Thankfully getting past a few large pieces of gfx editing I am now free to enter back into editing and asm.

I am always updating my work in the general screenshots thread but if this thread stays alive longer than the last, I will post here also.

For now heres a small glimpse of what's coming... And yes that Link sprite is ingame.

Age doesnt really mean a thing. At the age of 8 i completed 96 exits of Mario World, Wooped Ganon's arse and thoroughly caned UN Squadron all on the SNES....Prior to that I had completed all the NES games id owned. The only thing thats concerning is that someone so young can be so influenced by video games.

Now im pushing my 11 year old sister onto the SNES and she just completed all of Mario All Stars and has started on Mario World. Seems kids are getting taught how to use and are expected to use computers at younger and younger age every year.

Still dam stupid Mr Guy. Maybe a little research beforehand.

I was always under the impression that it was. Nice screens by the way. And I still have your demo of Dodongo's Gold floating around on disc somewhere. But if you do decide to stop this hack I will be waiting nearby with a flaming pitchfork.
Dodongo's Gold and all its backup were misserably lost but since then ive improved on pretty much everything it had. Release date i would never be so bold as to actually give a proper date. Id like it this year obviously but we'll see.

Zelda DP im still looking forward to. Its ages until Twilight Princess's release so i need my Zelda Fix. Also Euclid sounds like he's working on Parralel worlds a bit more and i cant stress just how much I am looking forward to his hack. I'm hoping theyll be some new people entering the Z3 hacking arena but thats unlikely..many dont last long. I can always hope.

Very true. Also most who hack Zelda in some way use ASM or hex editing to compliment their work. I havent done much yet but what i have has given me a lot more freedom and im no longer worried about having to keep elements in the same places. Making both dungeons and overworld a completely different experience to the original.

It was my understanding that that doorway had already been opened beginning with the re-texturing of goldeneye and more recently the images of yoshi running around Mario 64's world by VL-Tone showing. However if you mean a doorway into the community then yes this has the potential to be something incredibly special.

How about we change it to ROM-Modding? To modify or add modifications to an existing game. What we do isnt too different to the PC game modding community except for the fact that its with home video games.

The modding community alter codes, changes graphics and makes new levels...which is exactly what we all do. Also the word modding is an appealing name as every day new people enter the PC game modding community.

Still as d4s says hacking has become too big a name for the community so a change seems almost improbable...still not gonna stop me from calling it that.

Kinda proves my point...if the doom folk changed it then there is absolutely no reason for us not too. Not saying that we neccerserily should but anybody who profoundly claim we cant because its been established isn't taking into account that things change all the time... coco pops to choco pops and back again...Jif to Gif...name changes happen all the time.

So why don't we rename this forum to The Forum Dedicated to the Act of Using Various Different Tools in Order to Change Illegal Copies of Video Games So That Certain Aspects of the Game Such as Levels and Text is Different From What It Originally Was or something?
I've never heard anyone outside of Nintendo bitch about us downloading their games. I've owned many copies of the sonic games on consoles and PC but that didn't stop me from buying the Mega Collection for my Gamecube. Same with Nintendo's own games. Metroid Fusion, Metroid Zero Mission, Minish Cap, If the games good enough ill actually go out and buy it.

Its not the copies that are illegal (unless you don't own the originals...which I'm fine with cause I still own Zelda on my SNES) but rather the editing of them. Noticed how Nintendo cramped down on Fan games of Zelda wiping out such titles and Link's Odyssey. What was that about? That wasn't ROM hacking in any way or form but they still screwed it over because they dislike people using their avatars. If I was to hack a Capcom game would they care less, they most likely wouldn't until I attempted to sell it to the market. The problem with the word hacking is that as BGNG says its too connected with something elitist and illegal and for the most part its not illegal.

Stick with hacking cause it easily rolls off the tongue or change to something else. When it comes down to it I'm modifying/hacking/reverse engineering Zelda3 and enjoying it; that's all that really matters. I'm just stating my two cents but as with most in the community I do say when all said and done, does it even matter...?

My previous comments on changing the name were just light hearted remarks that in theory would most likely never work and to be honest doesnt really matter. What matters is that we get along.

What we are is a COMMUNITY. Now the best communties work when people feel comfortable being who they are and doing what they do. Moaning about what skills you have over others or what you lack never go down well and in the end just bring about feelings of anger or pain. A community works because it has members of all talents and all backgrounds and each and everyone one of them adds to the community. If at the very least all they do is download and play the hacks we make (or try to ) then they are still imo adding to that community.

You think Nintendo looks down on the people who buy there games or Miyamoto is actually an elitist git who hates all those who are below him? Hell no he respects and appreciates all that they add, as little as that may be.
