| I know that the Snes can't produce 3D models, meaning that there is no Z axis that can be rendered, but I've wondered how they were able to create an effect that was close enough to being three dimensional for being made when it was. I know that all the characters are just sprites drawn to make it look like a few different angles. (you can tell, because of characters like Yoshi, who has his tounge out for no reason when facing right or left). It also appears as though the entire track is just a layer, obviously. Doen anyone know how they actually went about doing this?
EDIT: Changed the word dimension to axis, woo (edited by ibz10g on 09-09-06 10:40 PM) |

| I looked into it and well, I guess it could have in theory, but the thing had modes 0-7. None of them were capable of rendering a true 3D structure, though 7 did create quite an illusion. Technology hadn't quite advanced to that point, I guess, which gives me another thought. Was the Gamboy Advanced based solely on the Snes?
Looking at it this way, I can't believe I didn't see it before. Gameboy Color->NES GBA->SNES Nintendo DS->N64 Does this mean that they'll release a handheld equivelant to the Gamecube next? EDIT: ^n00b reply^ (edited by ibz10g on 09-10-06 12:46 AM) |

maybe, I've never played it that much. I mean, aside from touch screen... you know, with SM64DS and all... oh, I give up. |

| Did the Snes do it, or was it the game? | |||

Very nice. But yes, change that BG immediately! |

| I've gotten tired of working on Shyguy Bros. I still plan on finishing it, but not for a while. I want to work on something new, so I've came up with a few ideas.
1) A race between Mario and Luigi who take different paths throughout the worlds, similar to a SMB3 hack I've seen 2) ACMLM Adventure - Based on a largely unfinished comic created by Smallhacker (it would have made a great cartoon) in which each world is a different forum 3) A good hack in which the main characters are Wario and Waluigi
4) An assortment of other failed ideas I've had If anyone likes any of these ideas, just let me know |

| Oh man
I see what you mean. No, that wouldn't work at all. I would have to give them separate starting points on the map which is probably possible, but would require more work than I'd care to do. (edited by ibz10g on 09-10-06 05:04 PM) |

| Well, I originally thought of the Mario/Luigi only blocks, but that wouldnt work anyways because when one of them passed a level, the other would be able to take the same path. | |||

| Thats what I was going for. The pit of despair would be like Bowser's world, and the display case would be like the Special World.
Ok, so I've begun preparation for ACMLM Adventure. I don't need room for levels on the overworld, but I could definately use some. Since there is so much blank space in LM's Overworld Editor, I was wondering if in all entirety, it would be possible to use that area for more/new submaps? EDIT: It wouldn't let me post a new reply, because mine was the last one (sad face goes here) (edited by ibz10g on 09-10-06 10:30 PM) |

| I suppose, but this thread should have been pretty much over. Looking at starfox, I guess the Snes could (poorly) create 3D models, but it doesn't seem as though the gameboy could. | |||

On topic: Backups are a good way to prepare for the unforseeable
How often is this site backed up? |

Welcome. This is an early information thread about my upcoming hack, ACMLM Adventure. The main theory is that you are a newly registered user, and you are to try to get everyone to accept you by proving to them you are worthy of power. You must travel through the many forums and threads in order to do so. All I have created so far is an overworld map, here:
(Ignore the sprites, they'll be dealt with later) I want you to help me decide what should happen. 1: Should the main character be an real user, and if so then who? 2: I want the bosses to be either mods or admins, but I don't know if I should use actual ones out of fear of getting banned
3: And the troopers/basic enemies. I think these should be basic users. Give me your opinions! EDIT: Thready -->Threads (edited by ibz10g on 09-11-06 09:59 PM) |

| Heh. Only the OW is based on thread appearance. The rest of the levels will be a lot more advanced than that, plus the levels will only be vaguely based on the threads. | |||

| I know where you're coming from with that. Maybe I posted this prematurely. I plan on having detailed levels that aren't based on the inside of a computer, maybe like a civilization. I want this to be a lot better, compared to my other hack (Super Shyguy Bros.). I want to use a lot of custom ExGFX, none of them ripped. Maybe a few levels will be based on the inside of a computer, in like Programming or something, but the rest should be reality based levels. | |||

| Here's some more info I prolly should have mentioned about the overworld. The forums marked by smilies are levels, the forums marked new take you to a different submap ('NEW' GFX are created in place of the star for Star Road)
Since the levels will be vaguely based on the forum, you can bet that Approval Request Forum and Braiteasers will not be easy (edited by ibz10g on 09-12-06 04:43 PM) |

| Nothing personal, I just chose the 12 most level-suited forums. I basically had to add FAQ (that will have a big role in the hack). I still don't know what the mystery forum will be though. | |||

all good ideas. I actually have something different planned for the pokemon forum (I won't say now), but keep in mind that the only forums that you can actually go into are the ones marked "new". The rest are just basic levels. |
