I am allowed to install linux on it if I really want to. The only rule is that all the preinstalled apps (windows, office, etc) must be functional. I could dualboot with linux without problems.

I don't think he can actually view our desktops. Rather, the system reports to the server when I mess with things that normal users shouldn't mess with, like the system registery.

I don't see why it would be considered cracking though, as my administrator doesn't really mind. If you don't want to help me directly, could you at least point me to a website or something that could help me?

It's not like I'm not allowed to edit the registery... It just bothers me that they can see what I am doing. And they already utilize disk images.

But uhh... any help?

I have full administrator priviledges over my own pc... and most others...

Our administrator, while not being entirely stupid, have set up the network in some odd way. Every student has his/her own account on the domain server. Every student computer have DOMAIN\Domain Users set to administrator priveledges (well... not mine ). This also makes a lot of funny stuff possible >8D.

But anyway. Somehow, the administrator is able to monitor when our registery is changed, etc. Could it be the AntiVirus program reporting back to the server? I think it is controlled from down there as I am not able to check for updates manually, etc.

So still, any help?

Yes, however, I can't connect to the wireless network with a spoofed MAC address, believe me, I tried.

I don't want to use another account. I really just want to prevent my computer from being monitored.

It's not like I'm not allowed. I just don't like the idea that people can see what's going on on MY computer. A computer is personal. That's all.

I don't think it's a process, but if it is, I don't know which it is. There are so many that I don't know what is because of all the weird drivers needed for laptops nowadays.

Well... I was kinda challenged to tell the truth. My admin said that I could disable it if I could figure it out on my own. I don't know a lot about NT domains and thus I am asking for help.

What the fuck. This is just sick.

I do think the world is overpopulated, but people shouldn't die from diseases. They should die from accidents like plane crashes and such... But that's just my opinion.

Except that those are driver/software updates from Lenovo that I installed myself. The chip is currently not in use, as I have disabled it in the BIOS.

My admin told me... so I'm fairly certain. Well, not everything, but he said that when I for example modify the registery, a message pops up down at his server.

Technically I could reinstall Windows, but the problem is that there's a lot of software on it.

I once transferred 50 megabytes using split files on floppy disks. And half of them were faulty.

Moo... I didn't get a Wii.

But I got a new shaver and 3000 DKK (I was allowed to wish money for christmas this year because I was broke). Guess what they'll be used for. _¬

Anyway, Merry Christmas everyone!

This is kinda embarrasing, but I really do think it's too hard. And even though you opened the wrong door, it's still possible to get the sword. I had to kill that ball 'n' chain guy with 4 bombs. Died way too many times in the guard house. It got kinda boring. And yeah that "ping pong" thing where you had to run up and down between the beginning and the basement in the guard house... Got kinda boring too. The graphics are too sweet, though, and overall, I'm really fond of what I'm seeing.

Bugs:

Unable to open big chests.
Some doors/stairs seem to have layer bugs.
Some color combinations kinda ugly.

Progress so far:

Got sword 'n' shield
4 hearts
Rescued Zelda
Got lamp
