I'm not sure of the specifics, but couldn't a technique like Dynamic recompilation help out any of the speed involved? You lose a lot of cycles converting all those nonnative instructions.

One thing that would be helpful in browsing the site is screenshots of various utilities' capabilities. Lists would also help. I know that falls under descriptions somewhat, but a picture is worth >= 40 words. Some of these tools are pretty old or obscure so I don't know what they do. I'm sure more than a handful of them are obsolete too.

Yuck. I could try to send you my version of the emu and see if anything changes. And I'm not mad at ya, I'd just rather you not make a blanket statement that it doesn't work just b/c it doesn't work for you. B/c it clearly works for me.

Bit of a stupid question but, if you're browsing the org site will you show up as being "online" on the board too? (And vice versa, if the org site had anything of that sort)

Although made of rabbit cell material, scientists say the embryos would be controlled by human DNA.
I don't know much about genetics, but it doesn't look like they are doing "gene splicing" or whatever. It looks more like they are trying to see what happens when you have human DNA but the shell, the cellules I guess they're called, are of Rabbit origin. And also the fact that the whole point of the experiment is to create defective cells, I don't think the definition of success some of you are using is accurate. |

Originally posted by HyperHacker With all the processing it takes to handle each instruction you're looking at a ratio of at least 8 Intel cycles to every 1 Snes Cpu cycle. Not to mention you also have to emulate the SPC700, and the PPUs, the DSP, and the address bus, etc. The one thing you might not be able to do is interrupt in the middle of an instruction, since it would be running natively. But, I suppose there could be a workaround for that... |

I'll buy your full mod powers for $20.
But in all seriousness, budgeting and sticking to it is the way to be. There was a time when I was on a $360/month budget and couldn't really do anything about it due to heavy coursework. Doing a weekly assessment of how much money you have in reserve is crucial and can allow you to plan your decisions responsibly for the rest of the month. You said you're trying to hit $3000 by September. That's 9 months, which means $1000 every three months, or $333 per month, or about $83/week. You need to analyze whether you can realistically handle that. As for actually saving money, common sense usually applies. Don't go to a $8 dollar movie theatre when you can see a $1-2 movie that is probably just as good, and you'll even be able to afford concessions. Cooking and buying groceries will save you gobs of money over eating out, and you'll feel better too. Cutting down on habits, like soda and smoking can really help too. I figure I spend about $10 a week on soda. Over nine months that would save $360 if I didn't choose to make that expenditure. That's about all I can say on that matter. As for your books, try selling them to other students. Not only will they be able to get a lower price, you can set your selling price higher than what you'd get at a college bookstore on buyback. Cutting out the middleman is fun. I sold my old Calc book for like $65 a few years ago. The store would have paid me $20. They sold used copies of it for $90. Everybody wins. |

It's very simple. There are far more truck drivers than there are Ivy League English professors. By pure numbers the probility is in the truckers' favor.

I talked to someone at work before I knew that I was the "winner." He suggested the idea that the terms slim and short are distinguishing features of somebody. However, liking poetry was not a distinguishing feature of an Ivy League english professor. You would almost expect him/her to like poetry by default. Thus it would never come up in the conversation. But a trucker liking poetry would defy expectation and would thus be talked about in a conversation. I liked this answer too.
(However, the question doesn't ask us to assume a conversation was taking place, and it was also geared towards probability, so my friends answer really isn't a proper response.) (edited by MathOnNapkins on 01-16-06 12:03 AM) |

As far as a RAM memory map, the person I know that knows the most about the subject is Kejardon, though he doesn't really come here. He's mostly on metroid2002.com and gamefaqs. Whenever I need to do a quick hack for someone I usually just try to find the addresses again, promptly forgetting them. Kej doesn't really write them down either. Probably should at some point.

Eh... it's okay. When it became clear they were just playing word length samples from known songs (i.e. after 4 words of playback) I was somewhat disappointed.

I recognize that ASM tutorial, however it is the wrong kind of ASM (That's the kind of ASM used in DOS). To program on the Super Nintendo you need to find a tutorial on 65816 ASM. I would suggest looking at romhacking.net for one. (edited by MathOnNapkins on 01-17-06 06:10 PM) |

Notes: Automatic tongue/licking device with pill shaped battery pack. Allows for scientific licking experiments where the human tongue would suffer from excessive wear and fatigue. |

It's not like you can just design your ideal friends and make them come to life. Unless you and your friends really click (which is rare), expect to feel somewhat left out once in a while. But if you feel left out allllll the time then you're probably just wasting your time. People diverge in interests as adults, it's very hard to deal with but I feel you on that. Sharing an interest can be good, but if it's the basis of the whole friendship you'll have a hard time talking about other stuff.
As far as the substance abuse goes, I can understand you're not wanting to be in the presence of drugs and alcohol. However, not everyone who smokes pot is a degenerate, not everyone who gets drunk is out of control. I'm not all for those activities, I don't smoke pot but I do drink fairly often. (And heavily once in a while). |

To move a door you must select it, then use the number keypad arrows (not the normal arrow keys). Numpad-8 and Numpad-2 affect the direction of the door. Numpad-4 and Numpad-6 effect the position, which is one of 12 preset locations, which varies depending upon the direction of the door. Not sure if numlock has to be on or anything, but for what it's worth, my numlock is on and it works fine.
