Spoilers didn't work with my layout so half of this is commented out, quote me to view it. I only commented it out b/c Randy used spoilers and I figured I'd go along with obscuring some of the harsher language

Randy, perhaps your friend failed to understand that not only Dems, but many Republicans are fed up with the management of the Iraq situation. I think it was the lack of an exit strategy that we've been waiting on for oh... 3 and a half years so far.

It more or less a common opinion that there just aren't enough soldiers in Iraq to do what we want to do there - establish democracy. As for balls to defend our country, that's ridiculous given that our country is not under attack by any state power. If I wanted to protect our country I'd try to join the FBI, the CIA, or the NSA - not the military, in this age of terrorism.

Your friend is a drill sargeant yet doesn't understand this - It's HIS job as a member of the military to shut his fucking mouth and do what he's told. Homosexual rights are irrelevant in this context so it only comes off as bigotry. Lastly, no one doubts that good things happen in Iraq on a daily basis. Again, the issue is the lack of any reasonable plan to eventually withdraw from Iraq. It might be a plan that would take 10 years, but as of now there IS no plan and that's why people are pissed off.

Unsubstantiated bullshit that is also irrelvant to the discussion. Besides, everyone throws around the words "traditional values" but no one ever defines them. "You know, back in the good ol' days...." No, the good old days are gone, things change. Your friend just wants a scapegoat, and thus we have the liberal.

rant rant rant. This doesn't even make sense.

1. Democrats are usually working class (though so are may repubs), hence not wellfare. Besides, if people are too lazy to work and receive wellfare, chances are they don't vote either.

2. Democrats don't try to look patrotiotic in most cases because of modesty. So the claim that Dems wave flags and claim to be patriots is just nonsense to me.

3. The military is not the end all be all of bravery. I myself will never join the military b/c I don't care for the military lifestyle.

Perhaps you have been affected by a broad range ip ban that someone else caused. Or perhaps it has something to do with not being approved. I don't really know, these are just a couple possible reasons I can think of.

Posted on 11-18-06 05:17 AM, in Help in understanding how to do a bitfield properly. Link
I would not recommend constructing these opcodes by hand, it would be better to use an assembler and a disassembler. Even reading these ARM/THUMB opcodes is a tedious process, let alone putting one together. Unless of course, your brain is really good at working with and seeing these bitfields.

To begin:

The particular set of details you have given in your post is like an instruction manual on how to construct a particular type of operation - and add or subtract instruction.

let's go through it bitfield by bitfield.

Bit Expl.
15-11 Must be 00011b for 'add/subtract' instructions

This indicates that in bits 11 through 15, the value 00011b must be present. This means bit 15 is not set, nor is bit 14 or bit 13, but bit 12 and 11 are set.

10-9 Opcode (0-3)
0: ADD Rd,Rs,Rn ;add register Rd=Rs+Rn
1: SUB Rd,Rs,Rn ;subtract register Rd=Rs-Rn
2: ADD Rd,Rs,#nn ;add immediate Rd=Rs+nn
3: SUB Rd,Rs,#nn ;subtract immediate Rd=Rs-nn
Pseudo/alias opcode with Imm=0:
2: MOV Rd,Rs ;move (affects cpsr) Rd=Rs+0

This indicates whether it is an add or a subtract operation, and whether you are adding a register to a register, or adding a register to an immediate (fixed) value. The psuedo/alias thing is just a note indicating that ADD Rd, Rs, #$00 is the same as MOV Rd, Rs. Example: 11b would mean SUB Rd, Rs, #nn

8-6 For Register Operand:
Rn - Register Operand (R0..R7)
For Immediate Operand:
nn - Immediate Value (0-7)

Using the information in bits 9-10, we have two choices in this bitfield. If we're adding register on register, then this indicates which register Rn is. example: 010b in this field would mean that Rn = R2. In the immediate case, it would add a fixed value ranging from 0 to 7 to Rs, then store it in Rd. Example: 110b in this field would mean we do the formula Rd = Rs + 6

5-3 Rs - Source register (R0..R7)

This sets which value s takes on in Rs. Example: in this field a value of 101b would mean that Rs = R5

2-0 Rd - Destination register (R0..R7)

similar to the previous field, this indicates what d is in Rd.

So let's say you wanted to do the operation SUB R1, R2, R3

field 11-15 must be 00011b
field 10-9 must be 01b
field 8-6 must be 011b
field 5-3 must be 010b
field 2-0 must be 001b

Put all that together that's:

00011010 11010001b (spaced for clarity)
which in hex is $1AD1
which would be D1 1A in the rom...

hope that clears things up for you a bit more.

Zelda 2 is a decent game.... however I find that past the second dungeon the game is just too hard for me. I found the learning curve to be pretty harsh. I mean, seriously, you don't get a heal ability until after the second dungeon, I believe. I suppose if I took some time to get better I'd change my mind. But imo it's easily the most difficult Zelda game of all time - which isn't bad per se, but again I think the challenge goes up too fast and you aren't given enough tools to deal with it. The magic system is also irritating in that abilities only last one screen.

I think I was a gamer like everyone, I don't really care about difficulty curves too much, but to pick it up, go a little ways and then go to the one mountain range with all the caves in the south and literally yell 'what the fuck?!' makes me a little uneasy as an eight-year-old.

Yeah, that's exactly what I said when I finally got there last year - "what the fuck?!" I've been trying to play this game for probably 14+ years. I first played it at my cousin's house when it was new, but never bought the game. I later played it on emulator but didn't get too far.

many enemies are hard in many zelda games before you learn what to do (lol boss fights).

Alastor, that's something totally different. Let me put it this way, boss fights in modern Zelda games are RIDICULOUSLY easy once you figure out the "trick" to them. Ocarina, Majora's Mask, and Windwaker are all guilty of this. The enemies in Zelda 1 and Zelda 2 are consistently challenging even if you find a strategy for them. e.g., there is no way to predict whether the ironknuckle will aim high or low, you just have to be careful. A room full of Zelda 1's darknuts is also challenging to face no matter how much Zelda 1 you play. And to think of a nonzelda example, one might be SMB1's hammer brothers. Facing off against one of those in level 5-2 without a fireflower, with no block underneath it to smash was quite a challenge when I was a kid and would still probably require a bit of concentration. Also factor in that they start walking towards you eventually if you don't make a move.

Having said all that, I can't think of any enemy in other Zelda games that compares to those in Zelda 2 in sheer difficulty. This is because other games were not as focused on combat, but rather exploration and puzzle solving. And again, that's not necessarily a bad thing, but it can be quite offputting at first. And this is not unique to Zelda 2, many NES games suffered from a very fast learning curve.

Some argue that USC deserves to face OSU in the championship if they beat ND, but if not, then Michigan deserves a rematch. But as a ND fan, I'd honestly rather see a ND-Michigan rematch if USC loses. I don't think it's very becoming for either Michigan or ND to expect to be in the championship, even with as well as Michigan played against OSU. They still lost. Would it really vindicate the Wolverines even if they won in a championship game against OSU? I don't think so. They were playing with plenty of passion on Saturday and they still lost. OSU would then deserve a best of three and we've have an escalation of nonsense.

And if ND played in the championship, it wouldn't even made sense for them to be champions if they won... b/c they lost to Michigan. It wouldn't seem valid. Unless you make some kind of excuse that they just had a bad game the first time against big M.

Michigan had their chance this season, they should have to fight to retain their ranking, not have a chance to go higher.

I think he meant are you a yes-virgin or a no-virgin? That's the best interpretation I could get out of an OR question with a yes or no poll .

I lost my virginity by the age of 19. And if I hadn't lost it then I probably would have by now. But I don't really care if others haven't lost it. By now I know enough to know that sex is highly overrated in reality. Of course it is desirable - we're wired that way. But sex isn't going to be everything you hoped it would be if you're a virgin. There's times where it's not fun and not fulfilling.

The "old limit" can be anywhere from a week to 2 months, depending on the forum. If you stick around for a while you'll be able to better tell what's a bump and what isn't.

Bumps with actual contributing content that is likely to restart interest in the thread are more acceptable. If it's a list thread then the bump is probably going to get the thread closed.

Ok. You can dash against the blocks in the beginning of Misery Mire and after you bounced off hold the other direction and you will still make the gap. No hookshot required. I think the only time after that it is absolutely required is Ganon's tower right after you beat the Moldorm for the second time.

Their records: Notre Dame 10-1, Texas 9-2, Penn State 8-4, Iowa 6-6.

I think this is a flawed argument. It would be better to examine wins and losses against teams that are current top 25 contenders, as that would provide a more up to date assessment. Even Indiana beat Iowa, why consider them? Obviously Notre Dame is not #2 anymore, neither is Texas.

USC opponents (BCS)
Arkansas (6)
Nebraska (23)
Notre Dame (5)
California (19)

OSU opponents (BCS)
Texas (13)
Wisconsin (8)
Michigan (2)
Penn State (25)

Michigan opponents (BCS)
Wisconsin (8)
Notre Dame (5)
OSU (1)
Penn State (25)

(thrown in just for kicks)
Notre Dame (BCS)
Michigan (2)
USC (3)
Georgia Tech (16)
Penn State (25)

So as you can see, all three teams have fairly challenging schedules of consistently winning teams, ones which are still ranked this far into the season.
