Arwon, I will give you a personal example of why I think Welfare is broken in this country. My aunt has been on welfare for probably 20+ years. She's had 3 kids and 2 husbands, and has refused to get a real job in probably 20+ years. She claims its her inability to re-enter the workplace b/c she's been out so long. But c'mon, 20 years? Now lets look at reality, she's 50 some years old, still smokes pot, can barely afford to go out to eat, and is still practically unemployed. She lives in a shitty neighborhood full of crackheads and drug dealers (I know she occasionally sell weed herself). Now is she in this situation BECAUSE of the welfare system we have? Probably not, but I don't think it's merely a symptom. That's a cop out. It's has to be a contributing factor, otherwise you wouldn't see people linger in the welfare system so long. The welfare we have helps, but not in a constructive, rehabilitative way.

And this isn't just anecdotal evidence, I've heard many stories about people they know in very similar situations. People who just have no motivation to get up and better their lives b/c the government helps them get by without working (too much.)

I get that when I'm driving a lot... I've been tailed for 30+ minutes and all of a sudden the person will turn at some random road. Yeah I'm very paranoid sometimes.

I don't see why you couldn't also grant the rom-hacking mods the power to approve/deapprove members. I don't see a single person on the mod lists who would have severe lapses in judgement.

Well... politics are either just dirty or the politicians have short memories and hope nobody figures out the contradictions in what they spout.

First, I'm assuming you're trying to read from the parallel controller registers at $4218 - $421F or the serial registers (forget their addresses). Second, I'm going to assume you are reading them outside of V-blank. That's likely.

The data from the controllers is only supposed to be available after so many cycles of V-blank. After V-blank ends the data becomes random static pretty much. Has to be a flaw of Snes9x, it's too lenient on controller input and when it can be read. This doesn't change the fact that you were trying to do something illegal though. However, almost any game for the SNES will buffer this data into it's own memory space so try to find those WRAM addresses and use them.

Well I would have loved to help you more but you didn't even post any code so don't expect much in that way. Just b/c it doesn't work on BSNES and ZSNES doesn't mean the code is faulty. Trying it out on a real snes would be the best way to check. But again you posted no code so you left us guessing.

Regarding executing from SRAM: I'm pretty sure you meant

LDA #$6B
STA $700000
JSL $700000

Otherwise we're talking about executing from WRAM, which is known to work. The SRAM, being of a different type of RAM, might be questionable in that regard.

There was a YouTube reply in there: link

I only watched this once but as I understand it, this new legislation only extends existing protection to government officials for acts committed between September 11, 2001 and the date he previous bill was passed. Effectively, it doesn't really do much more than the original legislation, which provided the protection starting on the day it was passed.

Although I don't know how that works out.... how could you prosecute somebody for something that happens in the past when you would excuse them for doing the same thing in the present? I think they were just removing ambiguity. It sounds like the pardoning happened at least a year ago and it's just now becoming a (misinterpreted) issue.

I dunno... there has to be something timing related going on here. Or perhaps a read/write access violation. I'll check this out when I get home and test out what you described on the real thing.

Michigan goes undefeated

I've had a premonition that Michigan State will defeat Michigan this weekend. In fact I thought it had already happened until I checked out espn a minute ago. MSU has lost to big M 4 years in a row, and with their current 2 loss streak, they need to dig themselves out of this hole and I think it would be the perfect time to mount a combeback in their season. I think it's a long shot though... Lloyd Carr is an excellent coach.

.... what the hell. I replaced $506C though $5075 (btw the 0x4E6E did not make any sense to me, even if you did have a headered rom) with NOPs, and then proceded to overwrite the $5075 with EE DF 0B (INC $0DBF). Different approach, but a success in all three emulators mentioned here. Coin counter was incremented every time I pressed X or Y buttons. However, first things first, I did do the research to see what i was modifying through smwcentral. Is it possible in the different emulators you did not possess a cape in the non Snes9x emulators while playing? This code only triggers if powerup == 2, i.e. having a cape.

The only other thing I can think of is that this is an issue with how you expanded the rom. However, Snes9x is actually more restrictive of badly sized roms than the other emulators, so that doesn't seem to be the answer, at least initially. Care to provide any more details b/c I'm stumped as to what could be the cause. More information would be needed.

PLEASE!! NO FLAMING!! THIS IS A NEUTRAL POLL/THREAD!!!

Why is it whenever I see someone start a thread this way and with all caps nonetheless, it only makes me want to actually flame and slap someone around?

Also, who in their right mind would be a statist in this modern world? Basically seems to be synonymous with fascism, based on most definitions I've seen. Any fascists on this board? (the one vote so far is me and it was a joke )

I was at my place of employment today, and apparently a Sherwin Williams is going in next to us. On the sign that lists their hours, there is a section that reads: "In case of Emergency call 555-2566" (not the actual number b/c 1. I forgot it 2. who cares).

For those of you who are unfamiliar with it - Sherwin Williams is a store that sells paint. What would you do if you called this line? "Excuse me I have A PAINT EMERGENCY PLEASE HELP"
