Unless you can explain WHY you need more sprites so critically, I fail to see your problem. Can't you just edit / rig the existing town people sprites to your own plot? I know the current system is limited but ... eh. Until Euclid, I, or someone else designs a nice dynamic way of expanding the number of sprites and/or editing the existing ones you're SOL.

While I'll say the movie had some entertaining parts... it was not terribly focused and a little bit long. It's almost like they made this long disorganized movie that never ends (2.66 hours) with the hope that we'll see the next movie just to figure out what the hell happened in this one.

This very much reminds me of the Matrix trilogy and how it unfolded. You waited a couple years... saw a sequel and and had to wait 6 months for the next one. And each movie got progressively worse. I hope the Pirates series is going to avoid the same fate. I think it's a terrible idea to make sequels as lead-ins to other sequels. They need to be self contained . Empire Strikes back was done right, The Two Towers was done right... bah.

Are these really old power supplies or something? The oldest one I've seen is supposed to supply 200W, and modern computers are supposedly supposed to have at least 350 to 400W for a fully featured system (lots of peripherals, hard drives, etc). Sounds like they are faulty (both of them).

It's useful as a reference for how the game is laid out. That much should be obvious, even if you haven't hacked this game.

The situation in Iraq will stabilize when everyone is dead. I swear every day I read a headline with 30-50 people dead in Iraq lately. And the Lebanon/Israel thing isn't helping much either.

I've always told Shyguy any ban he got he probably deserved it. He acted like he was victimized by Colin but he brought most of it upon himself by his own reactions. That said, I was a bit disappointed at how board staff allowed him to be repeatedly flamed by members *cough*Riku and Cirvante*cough* with no repercussions (opposites threads and other such crappy threads). As I recall previous similar altercations resulted in a ban of both offending parties as a cooling off session. The incident I'm mostly thinking of was a Mosts Discussion thread a while back.

You can take a scan of the Pit of Disrepair and see who the idiots are by who responds to threads that are certainly going to be closed, but instead you choose to ban someone who just sticks out like a sore thumb and scapegoat him. Again I think he deserves his current ban, but I don't think it should be perma, it should be like a one month ban. And if he still fucks up, then a 3 month ban, etc. He reminds me a lot of troubled people i've known in real life, and I think he'll grow out of it sooner or later. I don't want anyone to feel sorry for him b/c that never helped anyone. Hell, I'd be surprised if he even wanted to be unbanned if he was viewing this thread.

Colin: Orynider was disliked b/c he faked screenshots and faked knowledge of certain romhacking techniques in obviously disprovable ways. E.g. he claimed to be making a SPC music editor but posted a screenshot from an existing composer program, iirc. In general he is considered to be a fraud and a liar and just generally incompetent.

I don't understand what you mean by memory addres $11FFDF. I think SOE is hirom, so this isn't even a valid cpu address. And if it were Lo-Rom it would be an address that resided in ROM, not in RAM... so what exactly are you talking about?

Do you mean that ... erm. Let me put it this way, $11FFDF sounds like an address inside the rom image, not a memory address. Please clarify on that point.

Next, $A4 is an opcode that takes a one byte operand. So it would consume $DF, then the next opcode is $FF which is SBC $nnnnnn, X (where each n is a hex digit). So the opcode $FF consumes the next three bytes. So that would mean you'd have:

LDY $DF (read up on the direct page register to understand this)
SBC $????11, X (The question marks would be filled in by whatever followed $11 in reverse order)

^ This code makes little sense. Believe me, when you stare at SNES code in hex long enough, you learn to recognize what makes sense and what would be unusual. So I doubt this is code, or at least that if it is code, is not a proper reading. I mean, why would you load Y with a value then not immediately use it. More context would be needed to determine whether it was a correct analysis. Or a full disassembly/trace.

I don't have access to a usable romhacking computer right now so I really can't help you. But providing more information I could put you on the right path.

Breakpoints will often provide you more info than looking through lengthy traces. I think of traces as a last resort and only used in certain situations. Set a read breakpoint on that particular rom location. And by that, I mean you have to convert that address ($11FFDF) to a CPU address.

Now... from the trace you posted it seems that the code is executing starting at bank $80.... and it doesn't look like Hi-Rom code... it looks like Lo-Rom code executing in the FastRom area (banks $80 and above). The reason I say this is that all the code in the trace executes in the upper half of each bank, which is characteristic of Lo-Rom. Hi-Rom games also typically only execute in banks $C0 and above unless they are larger than 32 megabits (4 megabytes). *Fastrom allows the processor to run at 3.58 mhz rather than 2.44 mhz. Anyways, you'll want to use a program like Lunar Address to convert that into a usable CPU address. Don't know if your rom has a header but my best guess is that it will convert to A3FFDF (no header) or $A3FDDF (header). In time you will see how I got there.

Posted on 08-15-06 02:41 AM, in Minimum Wage Link
I think that there should be minimum pay brackets based on how much education you have. E.g. having a valid high school diploma or GED makes you look more motivated and educated than not having one, hence an employer should be willing to pay them a certain fair amount (Something close to the current minimum, maybe a little higher like $6.5.) Having a college degree could also be another bracket for a higher minimum. That would have a competitive effect since although college graduates could take a job at some minimum wage (say $8 / hr.) employers would be discouraged from hiring them in the first place and this would cause many college graduates to go seek better, more professional jobs. And I think people without any educational accredidation should have no minimum wage, this would encourage people not to drop out of school.

But seriously, even the wages I have listed are not really livable for someone who is single and living on their own, at least in my area of the nation. And we have a relatively low cost of living. What would be better is minimum benefits for certain education brackets, such as health insurance.

That's a hard question. It sounds like it makes sense until you talk to the people who have been harassed by it. I once tutored an Egyptian kid who looked more or less like most Americans, but his family was under surveillance and harassment by the government for months following 9/11. He just seemed like a normal college kid, hardly even appeared to be of Arab descent yet it happened to him b/c of his last name.

I think in Airports especially this is necessary, even if it causes those involved embarassment. In other highly sensitive areas that would be advised, but in general I'd say no it's wrong. For example, I would not find it justified to happen at my local county police office.

Why doesn't this whole approval thing pertain to the normal Romhacking forum yet? I don't want approval just so I can post in *blech* SMW hacking and PKMN. This thread would be pointless.

Anyways, assuming it will eventually apply to those forums, I have plenty reason to be here. I have written a fairly sophisticated SNES disassembler, am in progress for writing a Zelda 3 editor and involved in a massive Zelda 3 hack. i'm also an extremely helpful member who can answer a variety of questions related to the SNES and the programming thereof.

I have a much more serious problem with Snes9x. Not only does my comp freeze up, Ctl - Alt - del does not get me out of this. The screen glitches up randomly with garbage, I have a screeching sound emitting from my speakers, and I lose control of the mouse, etc. This happens with any version of Snes9x I can find so I'm betting it's some kind of corrupted driver or dll somewhere... but what? Honestly, I've reinstalled directx, reinstalled my graphics card drivers. This makes no sense since no other program does this and it just started happening without any explanation. My computer was conked out for a week or two though. That first time it crashed something may have been corrupted...

Ok find me another emulator with a decent debugger (replacement for GSD) and I'll take your advice. In the mean time I have to get to the bottom of this.
