Considering some of the people on this board... there's probably a few who NEED to hear his warped fantasies.

TEH NUMBARS!!!

Yeah I noticed it was post 666 but wanted to keep quiet about it. thanks .

I think Xk should make it so any generated graphics for someone's 666 post should glow an eerie reddish orange to make it stand out.

Weird thing is... I'm logged in here at work and also logged in at home. At work it says site(-1) but at home it says site(1). Perhaps it's because the cookies are different and I viewed more news at work...

I don't really think they are a top priority problem like it's made out to be. Islamic Radical terrorism has been around long before 9/11 and it was contained and thwarted under previous administrations. I think that matter was pretty much ignored under the first half of Bush's administration and that's probably why we had 9/11. And that opinion is based on the facts we know about how warnings from certain FBI agents were ignored, and it's also my gut feeling. I feel it was an overreaction on the part of the administration to ... fight this thing called terrorism simply to cover up the fact that they had been ignoring the problem in the first place.

The difference in the present era is that we have this notion that we can fight ideas with military force. Did we (in the US) have a war against ourselves to root out the right wing crazies after Timothy McVeigh blew up the Oklahoma City Building? No, b/c that would probably have just caused them to blow more stuff up. Instead what we do on our own domestic front is monitor suspicious groups of people who could be of that type (and hunt them down with black helicopters ). You use intelligence and infiltration, not tanks and ground troops.

On the plus side, the possibility that Afghanistan and Iraq could become free societies in the long run is encouraging, though I don't think something like that obviates the fact that it was not a clear initial goal of the war on terror. And it's an interesting paradox how imposing democracy upon a nation is both at once tyranny and a release from tyranny. At least, that's how I view it.

Just had an idea...

you could like... cut or burn your hand(s) just enough so that the ol' faparoo is kind of painful to do. Of course you'd have to do it on a regular basis. Just thought I'd toss that out there. If you're really crazy you could do some damage to your member... heheh. Okay maybe this is a bad idea but I thought it was amusing.

How does Starfox have irregular difficulty? Each course number starting with 1 is clearly more difficult than the last... this is evident once you play them. However, it's kind of different b/c a different route means a change of scenery. Even though Course 3 in starfox is somewhat enjoyable (The battle with the flagship is one of my favorites in any game), I find course 2 and 1 to be much more fun overall.

Anyways, aside from my rambling, it seems clear that Starfox has one uniform level of difficulty, just different courses to play through.

Sprites (including bosses) in Zelda 3 are, like many other things in the game, hardcoded. Altering or creating new sprite behavior is not exactly easy but at the same time not rocketscience. It's not like you can just alter a few hex values and pick and choose from different behaviors. PM me if you really want to do this as I could help you... but keep in mind you will have to know how to code in assembly - which I am not prepared to teach you.

Posted on 08-02-06 01:08 AM, in How do I boot a ROM on the SF7 Game Doctor Link
Yeah... the rom has to have the proper header at the front. To do this, find the command line program ucon64 online. It can change your rom into a game doctor compatible rom. It will most likely say it is for a Game Doctor SF3, but it will work for SF6 or SF7 too. Then after the header is in place copy that file to a floppy. Now, this assumes the size of the rom in question is less than or equal to 1 megabyte. It also assumes the rom is from a game with no special chips installed (e.g. Megaman X2, Super Mario RPG). If the rom is larger than 1 megabyte, it will have to be spread over several different floppies. I can provide you with details on that if you PM me. I'd rather not discuss it here b/c my memory is shaky on that part. I have one at home but I haven't used it in a while. (I'm at work right now.)

If you hold R while the SNES is powering up with the Game Doctor in place, you can do a lot more than just powering it up normally. You'll have access to a menu with myriad options for playing and backing up cartridges. Regardless, if you just hit power it will attempt to read the floppy disk and load the game into the system memory, then it will attempt to run the game.

An option I like better is using a parallel cable in junction with the game doctor to blit my roms directly off of my computer onto the game doctor. I haven't tested out yet though I supposedly have all the proper materials to attempt it. I'm just lazy but it sounds a lot better than all the floppy disk hassle I've gone through so far. Blitting the games from a PC of course requires ucon64 or some other program capable of interfacing with the game doctor.

Brilliant.... if I start my own Christian denomination, I can determine who goes to hell and who is saved .

So, to simply believe in Jesus is not enough, because without good deeds accompanying that faith, there really is no belief in the first place.

Hypothetical situation time just for fun: You've got a person who is introduced to the Gospels and Jesus' teachings. He/she is totally certain Jesus is their lord and savior but does no good deeds for the rest of the day. The very next day the person is struck by a truck and put into a terminal coma. This person cannot perform any conscious acts, or even interact with other humans, but they are still alive. When this person dies what is the status of their soul?

What it really comes down to is that you haven't announced much of anything. Announcing some vague plot premise and a single screenshot tells us little to nothing of what it will be. Also, 2 weeks is hardly a lot for hacking this game. It will take a long time. But please keep on working on it and releasing information when you have a little bit more to show.

If you're in Windows 98 it's a bit easier, just navigate to the folder in windows that has Ucon64 in it. I mean the exact folder containing ucon64.exe. Then hit Windows-R to bring up the run dialog and type command. Hit end and it will bring up the command prompt which is the same as the black box that was closing on you but this time it stays up.

To use the program you'd type on the "command line" something like

ucon64.exe -gd3 myrom.smc

This command will change a rom into a game doctor headered rom. the xgd3 commands all seem to be transfers directly to a game doctor via parallel port but that's not what you are trying to do.

Since windows98's version of DOS is older it's best to keep the names of the files shorter than 8 characters. E.g. I might have SuperMetroid.smc but I'd change it to sm.smc just temporarily to make things easier. It's also easier to have the rom in the same folder as ucon64 so you won't have to specify a different folder path. Trust me on this.

Windows XP is a bit different since you'll actually have to navigate to the folder containing ucon64 via DOS. Windows XP's version of DOS always starts you off in your My Documents folder, which is hella annoying, but whatever. It's the same idea really. To navigate you use the command cd which means change directory. Example: to move up one folder type cd .. and to move down a folder type cd dirname where dirname is the name of the directory you want to go into. Keep in mind that if the folder name is longer than 8 letters you'll have to use some kind of shorthand. e.g. let's say you're in C:/

You want to get into Documents and Settings but DOS only allows 8 letter file and directory names. So you have to type cd docume~1.

I think the fact that it is half the size would tell you it's now in 4bpp. Well, it shouldn't be exactly half the size since the file contains things like BITMAPINFOHEADER and BITMAPFILEHEADER. But if the bmp had large dimensions it should be rougly half at this point.
