That article is basically what you'd read in any quantum computing textbook made in the past few years. Nothing really new. I took a course on it in 2003 and that article was from 2004, they just performed "quantum teleportation" on different particles before that. (Photons)
I've read somewhere that the teleporter just simply copies you, and then teleports your data over to the other side, and then recreates you. The ORIGINAL you is deleted... and you'd just be a copy of the original. O_o While this is technically true, you'd have no worries about being a copy. It's the same you. (assuming there was a real working teleporter with no flaws.) You see, current quantum theory says that you simply cannot copy a quantum state. Unless our current quantum theory is really WRONG, building quantum computers will be a bitch. Think of your current computer and not being able to duplicate the data for a jpg or a gif. If you copy it you'd basically steal it b/c it would destroy the original in the process. edit: the qubits they mention in the article can be represented as 2 dimensional complex vector in C2. So you have the vector <a+bi, c+di> where a,b,c,d can basically be anything. That is a representation of the state of two electrons in an atom. Quantum state is mostly determined by electrons. Now let's say you "read" the state of the qubit <a+bi, c+di>. When you do that you can write it down, but the state of the original qubit reverts to either <0,1> or <1,0>. In principle it's the same idea that you can't conduct an experiment without affecting the experiment in some small way. In this case it's catastrophic. Profs or teachers who encourage people to drop don't deserve to have a job, imo.

In my view, this is the food chain of jobs in America:
Top (highest status jobs / highest paid jobs) ------------------------------------------------------------ 1. Doctors, Lawyers, CEOs/executives, Corporation Owners 2. Regional Manager 3. Stockbroker / Pharmacist / Nurse / Anaesthesiologist / Other paraprofessional careers. 4. General Manager 5. Normal Manager 6. Teaching / Professor / Government Worker 7. Upscale Food (like waitering or bartending) / Retail Clothing (e.g. The Gap) / Nice Hotel Serivce 8. Food Service / Factory Work / Misc. Retail like Video Stores and Best Buy / Normal Hotel workers / Door To Door Sales / Telemarketing (good pay though) 9. Walmart / Meijer / Target / Kmart / Dollar Store Retail ---------------------------------------------------------------- Bottom (lowest status jobs / lowest paid / crappiest environment) There are obviously more jobs than what I've listed. Category 7 and above tend to require a more personable attitude. those are the jobs that if you hate people, you will hate the job, most likely. I don't think you should work in category 9 (9th circle of hell) if you can help it. If you really need a job, food places are ALWAYS hiring. In a pinch that's where you go. To get higher jobs you generally need to be personable and have some sort of experience. Getting recommendations from people you know who work there also helps. |

Just note that some of the arguments I have had with some members of this board: It is impossible for you to win unless you actually bring in the law. Quotes and online print will not at all help you in your defense in a legal argument, so no one won there.
In all seriousness, no one is going to look up federal law or international law to prove an argument. Have you ever read federal law? I have. It's boring as hell! I'd rather watch golf.... or go to a knitting convention than read law. But by using some common sense you should be able to reason out what is probably legal and what is not. (And not being naive) |

C) This is a ROM hacking community, you'd expect the members to defend against what I said anyway...
I saw your thread. You started the argument. If you're going to act like you know something, then you should. Anybody who's been around emulation knows most of the "24 hours is ok", "if you own the cart then downloading is fine" stuff is bullshit. Point being, don't go starting shit when you yourself don't even know the particulars. That's why people got pissed off. The most you can do is let people be ignorant and if they get in trouble, that's their problem. |

You remind me of a certain arrogant condescending bastard who used to frequent the Debate forum...
Was it me? Well I guess I still go there sometimes. |

It's easier to talk to guys almost always. It's hard to talk to girls b/c 99% of the time I'm thinking about my prospects with them. Well... not hard, just distracting.

It might be nice if you told us what game or hack you are even talking about. And while you're at it what emulator?

Some people like to change their usernames a lot. I don't know how it is on the staff side of things... whether you can view original user names and a history or whatnot - but it would be nice to have a listing of name changes on a per user basis. That way I don't have to go through someone's posts to figure out who the hell they are sometimes.
Or if a full list would be too much work, maybe just list the user name they had when they registered? |

Well are these threats on people's lives and/or physical harm? If so, that's serious and I would say needs to get reported to the cops. It's called assault. Tell people to save aim and yahoo logs. I think that both networks probably log activity, so that would provide additional evidence. Make him wise up via that route.

The largest jellyfish ever found was a lion’s mane, with a bell 2m (7ft) across, and tentacles extending more than 35m
So you people are telling me you all read this part and didn't go ? Btw, someone needs to paste Fireball Mario over the scuba diver in the photo at the top. |

It picks up 0 or 1 occurences of a particular group.
So if you had the regex: "(3?)(5)(4+)" It would pick up: "35444......" or "5444....." where .... indicates infinitely many 4's. Thus it means the 3 is optional but if it does see it it makes sure to grab it. ? is shorthand for {0,1} (zero to one occurences). You can use curly braces for abitrary bounds, like {5,7} (five to seven occurences) I myself needed a small refresher so this is where I made sure I knew what I was talking about: http://www.tote-taste.de/X-Project/regex/syntax.html |

shut up! this grouping of binary digits comprising a format that human participants may click to look at and post in (aka this topic), has brought hours of ruinous pursuit into my day. If a kind soul would not mind confiding via PM what tiny tidbit of info I lack, I would show my thanks with warm salutations. |
