If there was a species of fishpeople I would definitely want to bang their women.
Why? B/c they're always wet! |

The new layout actually has a font tall enough to read. Just like the layout before this layout. In spite of the fact that it doesn't look that great, the tall font to me is love.

The brackets indicated a long pointer, i.e. 24 bit and hence 3 bytes. The address inside the brackets is a direct page address.
So for example if you do LDA [$00] and at $7E:0000 there are the values 00 80 7F, the value loaded into A will be the value at $7F:8000. How many bytes are stored of course depends on the M register. You can also use the Y register as an index, and do LDA [$00], Y. That will load the value at $7F8000 + Y). I've heard that even works across bank boundaries but don't quote me on that. Read it in one of Nach's documents. LDA ($00) by contrast, does something similar but uses the Databank register's current value and hence only needs to fetch 2 bytes to form an address. |

Originally posted by BGNG Um... from the SNES point of view, 3bpp is not the simplest form. It cannot display graphics in a 3bpp "encoding". 3bpp must be padded out to the actual 4bpp encoding in order to be displayable. And since there are few ways of eliminating one bit of color depth, there are many ways to store graphics as 3bpp. Tile Edit Pro just happens to support one such type. It certainly couldn't view the 3bpp "graphics" I was trying to look at in Secret of Mana a while ago. |

For all you who don't know, Glyph Phoenix is like one of the 4? 5? people in SMW hacking who actually knows how to program. Plus he's an asshole to the idiiots there, which can be quite entertaining.

Following Smally's format:
Hex editor: XVI32, or the hex editor in Geiger's if need be. Emulator: Snes9x Debugger: Geiger's Snes9x Debugger Graphics editor: Anything that works for my purposes. I like the look of Tile Layer Pro the most but it is prone to some weird bugs. Fatilety (sp?) is also pretty neat. YY-CHR seems like an unfriendly program to me. I just don't like the feel of it for some reason. ASM hacking: xkas.exe. Hex editor for very minor testing edits. IPS patcher: Boo to ips patches, but if I need to use one I use LIPS, or I let the emulator I'm using autopatch which is actually way easier than trying to apply a stupid patch. SNES->PC->SNES: My brain. Yes, I do it that often that using a tool would actually slow me down. |

Originally posted by Glyph Phoenix Um... XVI32 can extend files. You need to hit the "insert" key for it to activate though. You can also use the insert string feature to pad in extra bytes from any location, regardless of whether you are in insert mode. The default empty "file" cannot be written to until you choose File->New, thus declaring it as a file and not an empty control. |

Definitely I'll use them while playing games in the event that practicing at something is going to cost me lots of time. Example: Metroid Zero Mission, in Chozodia, where you have to do a series of speed boosts and save your charge to obtain an energy tank. If you screw it up you have to trudge your way back to the starting point. I'd just use a savestate to start me back at the beginning if I screwed up.
I think that using savestates help you gain temporary skill at a faster rate, but I've noticed that it affects long term skill level adversely. As far as using savestates while hacking, obviously yes. All the time. Though they can kind of be a source of problems if you keep forgetting you modified this memory location or that memory location after you load the state. |

Isn't this like, the fourth thread on this in the past year? I smoke about everyday, but never at home/indoors, and only 2-4 cigs per day. Smoking + driving = <3.

I think it looks great, but the very first sprite in the sequence looks funny. Rush's back foot is at a straight horizontal pointing to the left.... seems very odd to me. Seems like it should be at least at a slight angle. You pointed out that the second sprite's back leg being too short but surprisingly that doesn't bother me b/c I thought that was due to perspective.

It's called having doors / passageways and having a blackout period between them. c.f. Zelda and Super Metroid.

Assuming you have a device with the proper type of connection (no fricken clue where you would find a connector like that or a device that's compatible with it), you can read and write to that port using special registers. The official snes documentation mentions being able to use a keyboard or other peripheral as some ideas. I heard Xband came with a keyboard but I've never seen what the Xband setup looked like.
