Originally posted by p_ac I really think they shouldn't. You people are inventing problems that don't actually exist, as most of the bad behaviour was limited to the game specific hacking forums. Also, there's 6 moderators on the forum, there shouldn't be a problem getting rid of posts that are potentially stupid. |

To me, there's conclusive evidence that the editor isn't fake (look at all the data VL-Tone posted for instance), and if I were VL-Tone I wouldn't be too impressed with people saying that his hard work isn't real. You can't compare how long it took to write a Zelda 64 map editor to a SM64 editor. They are different projects undertaken by different people. VL-Tone doesn't owe any of you anything (unless you lot are actually paying him for the editor, which I strongly doubt). |

Originally posted by Sukasa + http://board.acmlm.org/thread.php?id=7686 If that doesn't qualify as a n00b thread, I don't know what does. Made by someone who is apparently learning ASM according to his approval thread. The approval system is not perfect. Originally posted by Dr_Death16 Yes, that post does say it all. It was closed. The question you've gotta ask is, is the system beneficial for people who actually release stuff? No. It's not. Do you think that Metroid Redesign thread would have got to 800+ replies? What about people who come to post one simple question or some feedback about a hack? They don't post. Or they attempt to get approval, with a thread like "Can I have approval to leave some feedback about a hack?". Somehow I don't see a person getting approval with that. And let's be blunt, the primary reason that people realise their hack on a messageboard is to have other people play the hack, and get feedback. This system removes that ability for casual posters. With very little feedback, people can become despondent. But hey, who cares? It's much more fun to have an "elite" club of hackers, and get shot of people who might not know things about hacking yet, and who dare to inquire about such things. |

Oh yeah, one last thing, I think you need to learn how to speak to someone with a different opinion than yourself. Calling people "dipshits", and telling them to "shut the fuck up" shows a complete lack of respect for people with differing opinions. |

Klive isn't a bad emulator, and yes there are a lot of shit games on the Spectrum. There are also a lot of good games though.

I'm gonna assume you're using C++ Builder, as those sound like VCL classes to me. There should be a Scanline property in TCanvas, which is used for faster access.
Also, you could maybe try looking into the Graphics32 library, as it allows easy access via Pixels[x,y] and is reasonably fast. |

Having read this thread, it's easy to tell why Tauwasser is a wee bit upset. You've basically come along and said he's made all his scripting stuff up. Or in other words, he's a big fat liar. Which actually isn't the case.
If you actually took the time to follow his mini-tutorial, right in this very thread, you'd actually see that his findings (and document) check out. You shouldn't be so stubborn, and accept the fact that you don't know everything. (no one does, by the way) Even though this thread is one of the most interesting threads I've seen on this messageboard in a long time, I don't even know why it exists. It could have been done in private messages, and it is not a 'world affair' or even a 'debate'. It's more like an argument, where one side is attempting to character assassinate the other. |

Don't go with old style Visual Basic for game development. Sure, it's possible, but I definitely wouldn't say it's the easiest to learn. Plus, do you really want to learn a programming language that's obsolete? (Not to mention that it's utter crap)
Go off and get some of the Visual Studio exp |

C++ does not fit criteria A. It must be easy to learn.

I find it more shocking that more people have posted about the image format the guy used in his initial post (which he has subsequently edited), than his actual application.
Oh wait, I don't find it shocking at all. I just remembered what messageboard I was posting on. |

C# + XNA. With C# the syntax is very similar to Java, plus with XNA you actually have a decent, easy to use library for developing games - something that Java doesn't have.

The obvious solution is to free up some space on your hard disc. |
