| It seems like there are starting to be more and more movies with video game themes, huh? I've seen a few of them. I liked Mortal Kombat when I first saw it, but now that I think back, it wasn't really that great. It looks sort of... budget, lol.
I did like Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, but my favorites would have to be the Resident Evil movies. They just come closer to what a modern day movie should be like; they also have some good music. The second one was far better than the first, though. "GTA motha ****a!" |

| I don't find Ragnarok Online too addictive. It's a lot more fun on servers with the normal rates, though.
I forgot to mention PangYa! It's a golf MMO. You can do things completely unrealistic, like launching a tomohawk golf ball or using medieval weaponry as clubs, but it's pretty fun. (edited by Zidane on 09-24-06 02:14 AM) |

| Isn't the required program abandonware? Anyway, if you search for "Download Transport Tycoon Deluxe," the first hit is a thread listing all the places to download it from, lol. The game looks kind of lame to me (those screenshots...), but I'm downloading it at this moment. Might turn out to be not that bad. | Sounds like an advertisement to me...
There are many of these web browser MMOs out there, but for some reason, I can't bring myself to like any of them. I've tried about three, and they were all pretty boring, with their turn limits and such. When I play a game, I want to play it for hours (and not have to worry about whether or not it'll load). ![]() |

On the D-Links I've messed with (who buys these?), when you log in, you are taken to the device information page. There's an "Advanced" button to click. If not taken to the "Virtual Server" page, click on the "Virtual Server" link/button. What you see depends on your version of the router. Service/public/private ports should be set to 80, and the Server IP/Private IP should be set to your computer's IP on the network (192.168.0.222). D-Links usually require that you restart them before the port forwarding takes effect. Make sure that the system you're running the server on isn't blocking any connections; and that your computer's IP hasn't changed. If your ISP is blocking connections from port 80, just change the port to something else (like port 25). You'll have to set your domain to use that port, though. | Budget relative to the price of computers with thousand dollar video cards and processors, but that's not a budget system. That's expensive compared to the norm.
Looks like it'll perform well, but the hard drive, motherboard, sound card, and memory look like a ripoff. |

| Hm. Very strange... It should work! ;.; I don't suppose you just so happened to miss something like the port forward not being enabled or the schedule not being set to "always?"
I can only think of one other way that you could try... If your host is blocking connections from port 80, change it to something like "3724." You'll then want to open "httpd.conf" in whatever text editor you like to use. On my system, "httpd.conf" is located at "apache\conf." Search for the line "Listen 80" (near the top of the file). Change "80" to whatever port you used instead of "80," like "3724." I forgot to mention that when you use a different port, you got to change the port Apache is bound to. XD |

Yes, some of the programmers from Introversion seem to love Wargames, as there was a reference to it on a server in their first game, Uplink. This game does look pretty interesting. It's definitely a step up from their previous games because of the online play. It's always the United States and Russia when it comes to nuclear warfare, isn't it?
I actually found out about this game a few weeks ago. I used to watch Introversion's work closely, starting when I beta tested Uplink, but they lost me about halfway through the production of Darwinia. However, it appears that Darwinia was a success and this game does look promising. I'm probably going to try both games soon again. |

I downloaded it. For some reason, it won't run on the highest resolution for me; and that isn't even high enough for me. I tried the game out, but the tutorial didn't function properly, so I didn't know what the hell I was doing. I was just killing random things. There was also this person using some tornado move on the birds, but wasn't hurting them...
Edit: Why does my sex keep changing to female? Is someone trying to mess with me? (edited by Zidane on 10-03-06 02:13 AM) |

It first helps to actually have a wireless connection in your house or wherever you're playing. If you've got one, there should be an option to autodetect wireless connection settings. If there's protection on the wireless router, you'll have to ask the router owner for the key.
If you haven't got a wireless router yourself, you could either play online at a house of a friend who does have a wireless connection, or play online at a place like a café. Believe it or not, my local McDonalds even has a Wi-Fi router set up. |

| Has anything on your computer changed recently, such as newly installed hardware/software? Have you recently deleted anything? Have you run any virus scans? What do you mean by previewing sounds? What version of Windows are you using? What is your sound card/chipset?
What you could try is reinstalling your sound drivers, if you haven't already; but I'd think the most likely problem is something you recently installed or a virus. |

| Ah, you made a better choice in some of the parts you bought than what you were planning earlier. However, I still think the sound card is priced a lot higher than what it's really worth. What the hell is up with that mouse, though? That thing screams rip-off. | |||

Not really. Leeching off of another computer's connection, even through a USB, requires next to no system resources. It is cheaper to go with Nintendo's Wi-FI USB connector, but it will not have the range of a wireless router. A wireless router would also be able to handle more connections. For about $10-$25 more, it's a better investment, as you could also have your computers go Wi-Fi. |

All laser mice have "on-the-fly sensitivity changes;" and 2000 DPI is totally pointless, unless you've got amazing control and unheard of screen resolutions. In other words, mice that expensive are just sucker deals for people who think that they're going to improve their game by buying things like that. Laser mice are much better for gaming, though, as they do not stick and have noticeably better precision. And of course a tablet would be better for drawing. The way you use it is completely different and more natural for drawing than with a mouse. It probably wouldn't be too hard to make a pen-shaped optical mouse that would work just as well, though. |

| What makes them dumb?
Now, to say that Rockstar games are the main reason people buy Playstations is a dumb thing to say. What about Nippon Ichi Software or Square-Enix? What about Sony itself, who makes games like Legend of Dragoon and God of War? There are plenty of promising games that are coming out for the Playstation 3; already preorders for the system are selling well. Now, the X360 doesn't even deserve to be mentioned. That thing is doomed to be a failure. It's inferior to the PS3 and the Wii. There's nothing that great about it! It doesn't offer the sort of gameplay that the Wii will; and a lot of what the PS3 offers you have to spend more money on accessories for the X360 to get, that you end up paying more than what the PS3 costs. I can see GTA coming to the Wii. I hope not, though - those games suck. |

Originally posted by Thexare Yes, actually, PS1 games would help Sony. It helps Sony in the same way that the NES or SNES helps Nintendo. Many good things coming from a company usually results in loyalty. However, they have made plenty of good games for the PS2. I just enjoyed Legend of Dragoon enough to mention it. Sucks to be you, as I and many others loved it. To each his own. It doesn't matter if some game companies are no longer exclusive to the Sony game consoles. As long as they're making games for them, they'll still draw a huge crowd to them. Seeing as the X360 isn't worth the money and the Wii couldn't handle the more graphic intensive games, the PS3 will be a major competitor. But does that spell the end of Microsoft, with their inferior system? Probably not. For example, many people are looking forward to buying the Wii. People are willing to try something new from Nintendo, even though their Game Cube had the crappiest games. Not that there weren't good games, though. I liked Skies of Arcadia. Oh wait, that was originally for the Dreamcast. Well, even I want a Wii after that POS. Really, though, the PS3 is probably the only system with ensured popularity. For sure, it won't be like the Game Cube. |

| Very cool. It definitely allows for much more detailed edits. The Pokégear error is no big deal, though.
One thing I can't figure out, though, is this "readme.txt." I don't know what it's for. I read it to find out what it was, but it told me to guess. =/ |

Originally posted by Thexare What does this have to do with anything? I never brought this subject up. Yes, though, there is a noticeable difference. Originally posted by Thexare How is this even relevant? Gamers could care less about how much a company has improved its gaming system when it is inferior to another. I do believe that the X360 wasn't much of an improvement, though. There is quite a difference between the PS2 and PS3. Originally posted by asdf Sorry, explaining why never occurred to me, lol. Well, simply put, high end computers can outperform the "next-generation" consoles, except the PS3. Originally posted by Thexare Lol, why compare the SNES to the PSX instead of the N64 to the PSX? I know this doesn't really have anything to do with what we're talking about, but I find it pretty funny that the N64 looked horrid, even when it came out later than the Playstation. There is less of a difference between Gamecube and PS2 than between N64 and PSX, though. However, there is no doubt that the Game Cube doesn't perform as well. Originally posted by Thexare Okay then, you win in your case. Sony's system is going to suck for you because it's priced so high and doesn't even offer as big as a difference from the PS2 as that of the Wii and Game Cube. The N64 probably looks as good as the Game Cube for you. For those of us who have at least decent televisions or 56" widescreens and surround sound systems, though, we would enjoy the amazing graphics and sound that the PS3 offers. We get a system that out-performs the best of personal computers and other consoles for less than it costs to buy a high end computer or an X360 with all of its accessories. However, the Wii looks promising when it comes to gameplay. But for something like that, you can't judge it until you've tried it. Nintendo does have something good here, but they could screw it up with horrible games, or maybe even the system doesn't work as well as we believe it to. In a way, it's sort of like the Dreamcast. We all thought it was going to be good, but it didn't sell. This is starting to turn into a Sony versus Nintendo discussion, which wasn't my intention. There was really only one thing that I wanted to say: To say that Rockstar games not being exclusive to Sony's consoles would spell the death of Sony would be dead wrong. |
