Some forums have this features to turn certain keywords to links (in some cases to ad links ) and I don't like it at all if every second word is a link which explains what that actually is

I also won't like to flame, but more and more people ever seem not to know that the roots of computer/programming, sincte they are not colorful boxes with huge buttons like "Click here to get a program which does whatever you want just by clicking this!".

Linux users anyway (should) know how to operate command line applications and stuff.
And even in RLM's readme it is covered how to use it. It really isn't too hard to do this, just a little figuring out oneself.

There's nothing more great to play the real challenge 'Ancient Cave' and getting beaten by two Gold Dragons on the 96th floor - eleven hours without a chance to save

But I beat the game at least half a dozen times though, I got to the bottom of the Ancient Cave also at least three times and beat the bosses' light (well, that fight was a farce ) out.
Again, it is fun, also due to the Egg Dragon, and there is a very evil glitch which will end the fight very quickly

Warning, this spoiler contains a very ugly way to kill him. I didn'T test if this even works for regular enemies/bosses or only him. So, if you want a (low-level) challenge, don't read this:
Spoiler:

Heal the dragon with a potion, so the max amount of HP is set to this value. So only about 30 HP than 65000 HP for that Egg Dragon, hehe.

Posted on 03-06-06 07:22 PM, in Question about converting and burning an AVI to SVCD with Nero Link
I got a movie from a friend that is slightly less than 700 MB in size and an AVI file.
If I'm not mistaken this is a container format which just holds information like a specific video codec and a video stream (like in MP3 format), which should make it easier to edit it. From the filesize it simply fits on any CD-R of course basically.

I have only very little in terms of video editing.

I can watch the video on this computer of course, but I would like to have it on an CD and watch it on my DVD player. The standalone DVD player I own is an older one which cannot read AVI, DivX and other neat formats, also it doesn't recognize home-brewn DVDs (even if ... what a waste to burn a 700 MB file on a DVD ).
Before you shout "Get a new DVD player!!!", I'll get a new one later, but since my job begins in april and I need the money for other things first, it has to wait.

If I fire up Nero Burning ROM, I drag the file over to the left (burning) window like usual - after a short amount of time Nero display the correct length, but a file size of about 920 MB; well this won't fit on a CD though
Is it just normal that the file size grows up by about a third to ensure compatibility with all DVD players outside ?

I downloaded also Virtual Dub, since I think it should be capable of changing the quality - I rather would do something like extracting the audio track (it's variable bit rate) and insert it with a slightly lower constand bit rate again. Exporting the single audio file is easy, but is it even possible to reduce the file size or is VirtualDub more a cutting or filter/effect tool than actually for converting files ?
Is there anoter program or way to create a SVCD, maybe with quality loss, but which will fit on a CD ?

Thanks in advance,
Surlent

HyperHacker: It's okay, I always use the same brand for burning CDs and DVDs - and I'm satisfied with them

Thanks for the replies. I already heared about TMPGEnc before, but good to know there is a way - it is not vital to have that movie on a CD, but just due to the fact watching movies on a PC (I don't load them via the internet) is not the same as watching them on a DVD player. I'll try this out when I have more time (since the computer will need to encode this what could take some time).

The same happened in Berlin several times. Since 09/11/2001 the security "level" in stations and public stations was raised. People were even told to not touch homeless bags and suitcases but report them to the staff which runs the stations ...

If there is somehow proof people made a joke (not simply forgotten to take, but with junk inside or something similar), they have to pay the police and all sourrounded circuumstances ... but mostly they are really only forgotten suitcases.

I think the thread title could be renamed to something similar like "FREE ROMZ 4 ALL!!!!!", this just will pay attention to those who falsely think this is a pure ROM site/message board. Probably this even will be read then.

Other than that, it's just common for some people _not_ reading the rules.
If it was like that -and in the forum itself - then there won't be moderators needed as well.

The best Tales of-game for me definitively is Tales of Destiny 2 for PS2. Its Ougis are supreme (though physical atacks are almost useless and deal maybe two- or three-digit type damage ...), the music and graphics are very neat although there are games which have better ones - but one thing I miss in some games - speed. That is exactely the reason I would adore ToD2 for PS2 (even if I had a PS2 - this game was only released in Japan, and my TV definitively cannot run NTSC and 60 Hz games).

I tried the ToP GBA port one, it is not bad, but either it is due to ... emulation or something that game runs very slow (on VBA, all other ones run in normal speed). Thumbs up for the huge sprites, as seeing it on that little portable SNES. Does the cartridge runs as fast as in the SNES version ?
They could have at least included the gradients in the status screens and the frame, without that, opening the menu just seems to be very plain

I have exactely the same thing if I use up all my RAM (512 MB, noname - one stick only).

I advise you download the program here (just for convenience sincs HH already recommended this):
http://www.memtest86.com

The rest ist just patience. You should put both old RAM blocks one by one, so that for each stick memtest can run some time (I suggest at least 3-4 cycles).
Good RAM should display not even one error. And you also could try the new block as well.

And hands off noname RAM: I just got the result of saving money in the wrong place. Corsair, Infineon and Kingston should be the brands to get.

The patched uxtheme.dll thing has the advantage of taking no additional resources or having to run a programm all the time. Windows' default Luna Theme already uses more RAM than the Classic Theme, but any other theme does not use any more resources.

Style XP might be fine, but if you have low resources like not sufficient RAM, I won't recommend it.

About the second question:
In Luigi's Adventure 1 or 2 Anikiti used a no-cape block in few places. It prevented the player from soaring up and down (or better, back and forth). You could check BlockTool if it has something similar - and does not only simply change Mario's status. Or simply give the player not enough space to run, like putting blocks or (decorated as rocks maybe) other obstacles in the levels you don't want the player to fly over.

Posted on 03-30-06 03:31 PM, in Fav. Harder than Final Boss Secret Boss? Link
Since this already was bumped, I'll contribute also something:

If you really want a challenge, get Star Ocean 2: The Second Story. In the regular game is a possible scene which makes the final boss Indalecio (a spoiler tag is not needed since his name will not be mentioned even once before facing him) about three times harder than usual, by removing a limiter which usually is activated when facing him.

After the highest difficulty level is unlocked, all enemies have much more HP and power. Now try beating him without his limiter. He becomes a walking tank, moving at almost lightning speed, while having shitloads of HP, of course casting while moving and uber-hard to beat.

Beer can be drunk until a certain level is reached. Then you are either full to the top, already to the way into the bathroom or need "harder" drinks.
As for me, I rarely drink alcohol, but then I always prefer beer - most of the known German brands are very drinkable. Nothing beats the taste of a cool beer, gotten fresh from the barrel, while it it is good weather on a sunny day.

Since my birthday is coming, I anyway need to buy some beer crates. Though their lifespan is usually much shorter than estimated

As for brands, I prefer any sweet beer types. Be it Radeberger, Warsteiner or Hasseröder - also I adore irish Guinness beer or our "Schwarzbier".

I didn't play too many SMB hacks so far, but it seems despite its linearity (well, I know SMB IS linear) nice - and is not insanely difficult from the start - and I like the message when you appear in the warp zone

The pallettes fit well.

Posted on 04-07-06 11:32 AM, in Question about the "Add Time Custom Blocks" Link
Hi, FPI.
Can you isolate the problem, like does it happen in levels with more sprites or custom blocks than in levels where you use less of them ?
How about trying to select another value in "Change properties in header" ?
I didn't test the newer version of Blocktool though, but in the old version the block worked normally, but does the block still remain intact after you hit it ?

We know BlockTool is buggy, especially if a hack uses large amounts of custom blocks, despite the slowdown in some levels (I think BMF or Smallhacker released an IPS patch preventing that slowdown - not sure), so maybe you just ran into one of these bugs ...

You could try to try it on a clean ROM - just put massive amounts of these blocks into one level and maybe another level with only one or two of them - for checking differences.

SMB 3'S "Athletic" all the way. I'd have to go with the most replies that SMW's castle music is outstanding - hell this even scared me in younger ages, the first time I played it and the pillars killed me

Other than that, I'd go with SMB3, NES version. The SMB3 ending them also was very nice, but cannot beat SMW's beautiful ending tune - which gets better and better the closer you come to the track's end.

I was awake for about 48 hours years ago once, when a train full or fans was on the way to watch a game in our national football league (that torture for a 90-minute game ... ) . With a uncountable number of coffee cups and noise I was able to survive that ... but never again.
As for now, I need about eight hours to sleep, in the weekend I'm sleeping up to ten hours per night since I won't need to get up early the next day.

Nothing beats a night's full of sleep, getting up fully charged the next morning.

Posted on 04-09-06 10:24 AM, in .spc? where i can get these files Link
I think SPCs are perfectly legal, since they are hosted on Zophar's Domain as well - although I never understood what actually is the difference between these and the MP3 format (like if you converted an existing SPC to MP3 with Winamp's DiskWriter plugin directly), concerning the fact "legal" and "illegal". I have no clue about the technical thing, but maybe the "engine" (the plugin itself) is slightly similar to MIDI and the SPCs just contain the data - of course both formats are completely different ...

You can get everything with ZSNES' ripping method, only in Tales of Phantasia you won't be able to get the voice of the title song, since I think it actually is a huge/long sound effect (?) - as only the background music will be recorded. But usually it is easier to download them via the mentioned snesmusic.org homepage. The nice thing is the easy way to make SPCs play forever - so you can listen to youe favourite song as long as you like

Artist: Machinae Supremacy
Album: Redeemer
Song: Through the looking glass

This masterpiece simply is amazing, I hope I can get my hands on the album soon.
Its piano intro is rather short, unlike some other songs (Soundtrack to the Rebellion for example), but nonetheless they impress with nice vocals and powerful riffs.

The band already proved earlier its talent. Since I saw their new homepage I feared they are getting off their style (SiD metal, songs are covering a large variety, but the majority are "power metal" songs). But after seeing they are fortunately still offering most of their songs for free and the two samples (full length), they seem to stay on their old path (at least until the current album).

I didn't like their "Sidology Part 2" track which was released after a longer downtine, just before Redeemer, but even if only half the part of the songs are as good as "Through the looking glass" and "Rise", it will be worth every penny.

I smoke about 5-6 cigarettes per year, so on occation only - doing this since a longer time. I never want to smoke more since I fear I could also begin to smoke regularly. My mother smoked for more than 20 years and decided to stop about three years ago.

She still asks herself why she smoked for that long time - there was no positive effect at all. Other than that I also don't see any point, for smoking on one of these rare moments I really need to be in certain mood. But as stated above, I never might try to smoke for boredom or due to my friends. Some of them smoke quite a lot, although I'm together with them regularly I never felt I just "need something".
