Denn greeted the guard at the entrance. He saluted back. Denn: So, how are the contestants doing? Guard: Well, at the moment, the competition is kinda stoppped. Denn: Sstopped? Guard: The levels of the dungeons have been collapsing and some really dangerous monsters came from the lower levels. In fact there was a dragon in there. A huge un`! It came crashin through and almost got at the highest parts of dat dungeon. Denn: Iss it still there? Did anyone get hurt? Guard: Dats the weird part. When our specialist got inside, they found it dead. They had to do some cleaning with that baby. Denn: Cleaning? Guard: It was torn apart. Literally. And dat smells right now. Dont know what caused it, dont care to see it. An ill stench floated from the dungeons door. Denn coughed. It was really horrible and he felt a little sorry for the guards. Had to stand there whole day and now there was this smell. Denn: Oh, I have one quesstion for you. I got this key, do you know anything about it? Denn pulled the key out of his pocket. The guard seemed a little puzzled. Guard: Didnt you listen in dere? Were you asleep or sumthing? Denn: Wh-what? Guard: Thats the dungeon key! The tournament key! You shouldve know dat! Denn: Huh? Guard: That means you have entered the tournament! Did you have some dirt in yier ears or did you lose your memory?! Denn watched the little key and thoughts flew through his mind. He smiled. An opportunity! Denn: OHHHhhh! Sorry I forgot the whole tournament!
Guard: Are yie really a apprentice? 
Denn: O-o-of course I am! The guard looked Denn and sighed.
Guard: All righty. But we cant let you in. First, you have no weapon. Second, theyre still cleaning the mess. Third, your guardian is missing. Get those first. Denn: Okay... Denn turned away from the guard and started moving towards his inn. As he had disappeared from the guards sight. he jumped high and laughed. Finally luck had smiled on him. |

| Denn swiftly runned to the inn doors. His footsteps splashed in the pools of water. The rain drops slipped at his skin. He knocked and the owner opened the door.
Owner: Come inside, will ya? Yier catch a cold. Denn thanked him and stepped inside. After warming awhile at the fireplace, he walked the stairs up and went to his room. Lippit was standing in the table and straightening her feathers. Denn smiled at her. Lippit: Whats so funny? You won at the lottery? Denn: Better! Let me tell you! Denn explained everything to Lippit, the tournament, the key and the dungeon. Lippit looked him. She was shocked. Lippit: But you are under a punishment! You cant enter the tournament! And it says in the law that: "Thou shalt not make weapons..." Denn: "...for anyone but thyself." That means I can make my own one! And youre my guardian! You must come too! Lippit: I dunno. It sounds dangerous. Denn smiled at her. She flew to the ground and started morphing. First she looked like half of a bird, half of a human, but in the end, she looked like a beautiful young lady. She was rather slim, but still maintained her female curves. Her body was coated with feathers and two small horns pointed out of her head. She smiled. Lippit: But I like danger! When we will go? | Denn woke up. He was lying on his bed and Lippit was besides him, sleeping calmly. She had folded her hands around Denns waist. Denn blushed a little. It wasnt his fault that the inn didnt have any extra beds. Although he was used that Lippit sleeped with him. He slowly unfolded her arms and rose from the bed. After dressing up, Denn started stuffing some food and water into a backbag. Lippits eyes slowly opened and she rose too. Smiling, she walked to Denn and hugged him.
Lippit: Time to go? Denn: Yeah, it looks like it. She let loose her grip and walked to the desk and sitted on it. Denn threw the backpack on and grapped the old claymore from the closet. It wasnt rusty, because it was rather well maintained. Some pieces were torn of from the blade and the handle had lost its shiny features long ago. Denn swung it few times and thrusted it into its case. Lippit had already morphed back to her bird form and flew out of the window. Denn: I hope I find something valuable in there... Maybe a way to get this neklace of me! He pulled his neklace - it didnt give up. It hanged on his neck, as always. As indestructible as ever. Denn walked to the stairs and went down. He greeted the innkeepper, who reminded him to pay his bills. Denn switftly walked out of the inn and breathed the fresh air for awhile. |
