Whoa, guys! Note the ! They stand for happiness! Romero is a gaming in-joke, practically every gaming webcomic ever has taken the piss out of him.

The only gripe I have against Romero was the way he did Daikatana. He over hyped it and used the world's worst recruitment strategy - "Do you want to be John Romero's Bitch?"

Molyneux is nowhere near as bad, he just overhypes things way too much, particularly with Fable. He admitted this himself after Fable was released and said that he'll always do it with Lionhead's new games.

Forum for birthdays? How about a sticky where the name of the thread changes whenever the debate changes? We've never really managed to sort birthdays :-\

I've downed the first three and it's a brilliant feeling when you do. However, it's not a truely great game because of the god-forsaken camera. I mean cameras have been bad before, but this camera literally makes it more difficult to play than if it was just fixed. Honestly, I weep for this game. It's on the verge of greatness and marred by a barely tested camera. Absolutely senseless.

Oh, good god... That was Danny John Jules? I'd have expected more from him, Gex's "wise cracks" were just cringe-worthy.

Oh, I thought I'd let you know I'm lucky enough to own the limited edition PAL digipack copy of the game, complete with art cards and extra material such as a making-of (I think ). I've got a complete collection along with the Ico digipack too Gotta love limited editions

I am convinced that Ico is in the highest order of games. We're talking the extra special elite that are just matched by nothing else but others in their order. Knights of the Gaming Round Table:

The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time
Final Fantasy VII
Ico
Half Life
Mario 64
Gran Turismo
World of Warcraft

Halo could qualify but I haven't played it, so it can't go in there really.

What I tried to put into my list were the one-off special events of gaming. The most undisputed greats. The superbands of the gaming world, the Led Zeppelins of gaming. In my opinion only a few could probably fit into this category, these would be:

Final Fantasy VII
Ocarina of Time
Super Mario 64
Super Mario Brothers 3

And that would be it. These are the gods of gaming that are always associated with "best game ever".

The ones I put in by personal opinion:

Ico
Gran Turismo
Half Life
World of Warcraft

The only reason I mentioned Halo is because it's one of the two outstanding Edge 10 out of 10 reviews. The other being Half Life 2, of course.
I've never played Red Alert 2 but I have played the original. It's a damned good game, but from what I've played of it Warcraft 3 is my favorite.

Wind Waker is indeed a good game, but it's a dwarf to Ocarina of Time's giant. Ocarina of Time is simply one of the most important games in gaming history, and I think only Link to the Past and the original Legend of Zelda can contend with it.

Yeah, I did read that. Edge can be too egotistical for their own good sometimes. Yes, I do think that Goldeneye deserved the 10, more-so than Halo, but then again I've only played one of the games. Goldeneye really is one of the finest FPSs ever, and definately up there with Half Life and its sequel.

It still suprises how many people read Edge. You you get to buy the magazine itself, Nick?

Daytona is only good in the Arcades. The Saturn version is really awful, compared to Sega Rally that is. I've got the Championship Circuit Edition too which sucks even bigger monkeyballs.

Sega Rally is just teh awesome. I reckon I can own anyone here either in the arcade or on the Saturn. I've completed the arcade version and topped the leaderboard. My Desert lap is under 52 seconds too

How about a lap time contest? I've got my Saturn plugged in and Daytona and Rally ready to go...

I'm not sure how this clever attachment feature works but if it does you'll soon get the picture (And yes, it IS the one from last year)

S'yeah, I thought I'd be really original and start my own birthday thread. I knew everyone would worry about the space in General Chad and wonder "but she'll never see it because a troll eat her or something"...

It's not officially my birthday yet because I reckon Tomguy fixed the birthday so that it stays on March 17th longer. I know this because it HAPPENS EVERY YEAR!

So far I have had a drink of the traditional student kind (Newcastle Brown) and sat down to the wee hours of the morning watching Bill Bailey
