The alternative option is to put a single row of invisible coin blocks across the top of the screen; but then again, that can be reasonably easy to get around if you have a blue P-switch somewhere in the level.

I could have sworn that the 3-up Moons reappear when you insert them as Direct Map 16 tiles, but I'm probably wrong. Try it, at least.

Why yes. To show off his awesome spelling abilities.

Anyway I just tested it. And... I was right. If you insert the 3-up moon from the Direct Map 16 Access, it will reappear after and exiting and reentering the level.

1-up mushrooms and all other sprites will always appear.

Find the tertiary exit out of Bowser's Caste and a new level will appear in the centre of Star Road. Find your way out of that level and the level icon will transform into a star that can take you to Boo's World.

This video is a speed run of DWTLC, where the player finds all 120 exits.

So next time you've got 2 hours on your hands, open Snes9x (must be v1.43 improvement 7), open DWTLC, run that video, sit back and be amazed.

Not a bad start, it's far better than most crap turning up here lately. It's also nice to see that you're ripping your own graphics.

By the way, the rain looks cool. Where did you get it from?

EDIT: You spelled "Kamek's Mystery" wrong.

Graphic Byte 2 from Mario World Reconfigurator doesn't seem to be in Tweaker.

For those who don't know, Graphic Byte 2 determines how far along the table, the list of frames (and the tiles they use) starts. I always find this byte useful for changing the tilemap of a sprite that has just one frame, and I can avoid modifying the actual table and potentially corrupting the tilemap of other sprites.

But DMiner, I assume you're going to put this in the Change Tilemap Dialogue, right?

Impressive! If Lunar Magic didn't exist, I'd actually take the time to write an editor for this. I say Lunar Magic, because there isn't much a SMA4 ROM can do more than a modded SMW ROM. But since there is, I feel most people would choose to hack SMW anyway. And besides that, my programming skills aren't what you'd call "advanced" yet.

Well I don't really have much new to add, although I do agree with pretty much everything that's been said. Anyway, I did enjoy your hack, it had a very original feel to it.

Just a few things though; you tend to overuse certain objects/sprites in small areas. And also, you should work on brightening up your overworld a bit, like add a few more trees/flowers etc.

Personally, I prefer Luigi. Why? He can jump higher, he looks cooler than Mario, and I love the way his legs flap when he jumps in some games.

||bass, it's only Lynx in UK and Ireland. I saw Axe when I was in Spain, Germany and Italy.

Anyway, I use Lynx (Or Axe, whatever) Africa mostly. I've never heard of Tag.

In all of my SMW hacks I use the SMB3 font, just to make it look different. But recently, in my current hack, I changed all the font back to SMW style, because it just looks plain better.

Different != Better

Not much, though. Just look at Mortal Kombat Advance, or even the SNES emulator for GBA.

Well now that I think about it, a SMA4 edior would be pretty cool. SMA4 does have quite a few things that a modded SMW rom lacks, like the suits for example.

EDIT: Okay, maybe when I get better at programming, I'll take a stab at making a simple editor this, but I'm not promissing anything. I may be biting off far more than I can chew here.

Posted on 05-16-06 10:50 AM, in SML2 Remake Link
A few months back, I started a remake of Super Mario Land 2, but I didn't make it well-enough known. Shortly afterwards, Link200whatever started a remake of it too, and I gave up mine. Looking back on it yesterday, I realised that he hadn't shown progress of it since around then, so I PMed him and asked him if he was still making it. He replied no and said that I'm free to take over it, so that's just what I'm doing.

Here are some screenshots of what I did back then:

This time, though, I'll be using more colourised SML2 graphics than SMAS. This is just a rough idea of how it will look.

Comments? Suggestions? Questions?

Thanks for the offer (and the comment ), Ghettoyouth, but I'd prefer to do the GFX and stuff by myself. _¬

Bio, is that an offer? If so, I'll talk to ya about it on MSN later, k?

I want to know if you guys think I should use SMAS rips, or colourised SML2 rips.

Yeah, Bio, Sure. I want to make this as accurate as possible.

Anyway, the results are clear, so I'm gonna redraw the SML2 GFX with more colour and detail. Stifu, what do you mean by enlarge? 16x16's the limit, you know.
