I like this hack. The level design is good, and the ASM hacks just make it better.

Points: 8.5/10. The hack itself is good, but it's a bit too linear for me (though I am not very far yet).

Cool picture, but isn't that a bit big? The editor aims for an resolution of approx. 750x560 IIRC.

Sorry, Mario can't be turned into Yoshi with a simple GameShark code.

Don't make pointless threads/posts. They will only get deleted.

And if you want to introduce yourself, there's a thread for exactly that purpose.

The wiki sort of died out now. The changes that I can do are done, those that I can't do won't be done, the 'Request an article' is never read either and we still have no active SysOp to delete all the pointless articles.

Something must be done about this.

Not that I know of, mostly since most N64 games' textures are compressed.

You can extract the textures with an emulator, however. Install this plugin and enable the option in its settings.

I think he meant any N64 game, not only Super Mario 64. The ROM extender only works with Mario 64 (and even then you still need a tile editor to view the textures).

My solution is much easier if you have a good enough computer.

Newbs are prople new to the board. They probably need to learn a bit about the board, but they are willing to learn.

N00bs on the other hand are also new, but act generally stupid and do not want to learn.

What emulator are you using?

It could be one of these problems:

1. There are spaces behind the code
2. There is no name typed in
3. The codes aren't in the proper format (XXXXXXXX XXXX)
4. If using ????s, the number of ????s in the code is not even

This is a rare bug in Super Mario 64. It also happens on the real console. If you want to find out more about it, google the keywords 'Yoshi Suicide'.

EDIT: Detailed description about this bug. Scroll down till the first post by CHOCLAIR5.

If you rip a game from your own GameCube disc, it is safe to assume that the contents between the ROM and the actual game are equal.

And I don't think that the contents need to exactly be equal. As long as you ripped the ROM off of your actual game, it's fine.

Actually, I can't get the right palette using TLP too.

You should try YY-CHR instead, which has a good palette feature and other nice extras.

Of course, if you really want to use Tile Layer Pro, know that it can read NESticle savestates and use them as a palette file.

You could sort the enemies/bosses after the storyline. This would be much easier and also allows Culex to be put at the very end since he isn't really in the storyline.
