Just wondering, MathOnNapkins, I remember a conversation we had before about the music editor in your in-development Z3 editing package. Hows that coming along?

It's probably the feature I'm looking forward to most right now, seeing as I felt the same about the HM music editor before release (and have grown to become annoyed with its limitations).

And Nintendo own the publishing rights to Goldeneye as well as the trademarked name 'GoldenEye 007'.

And dont forget that Activision currently hold the 007 licence until about 2012, therefore preventing anyone else from developing/publishing a James Bond related game for any platform.

If you're talking about Goldeneye, then the fact is they actually cant because Activision own the 007 rights (EA dont anymore) until at least 2012.

Okay, this is going to sound really stupid, but didn't RARE also produce all the Donkey Kong Games for N64 and GameCube? The RARE logo is plastered all over their games - WTF?

Yes, but they were in turn licenced by Nintendo in the first place to use the DK characters/etc and develop the game. So although Rare developed the DKC games, Nintendo own the rights. It's the same as the fact that EON productions own the character of James Bond. And right now, Activision own the rights to any game thats JB related. No one else can produce, develop or distribute a 007 game except for Activision. And this would include anyone re-releasing Goldeneye.

It's definately better, however I would advise taking screenshots with the filter off. Because I for one never use it, and as such would like to know what your hack looks like with a standard render. Just a bit of advice, other than that just keep improving those pallettes.

I'm guessing this is solar soundtrack though? Nice to know theres still progress being made, even though it's unviewable.

On the wii version of Twilight Princess, link is right handed due to the wiimote, whereas on the Gamecube version he is left handed.

The thing is, instead of simply remodelling the link character and changing the programming for link to be right handed on the wii version, Nintendo took the 'easier' route and flipped the entire game sideways.

So basically, I'm getting the gamecube version next week, and then the wii version next year when i get a wii.

I'm going to end up so fucking confused though when i get the wii version, what with all the areas in the game being a mirror image to the ones in the GC version.

I'm still secretly hoping someone has got me a Wii for xmas, but somehow I think that's unlikely. I know people who have had to be escorted by police from the local Toys R Us on sunday simply due to the extreme lack of consoles here (and the ensueing fights that break out due to it).

And if it does happen, as thankful as I would be, It would mean I wouldnt want to play Zelda until I get the Wii version (I've ordered the GC version). Which sucks a bit, but I can get over that...

Nice work, as always. The timer seems like a pretty nifty addition. I'm just wondering just how many things are in this hack that you've all managed to keep quiet from everyone so far.

Orochimaru: amazing screens as usual! I havent been this excited about a hack since...ever.

The area names is an awesome implementation, and those new areas look stunning. I doubt i'll even be able to go back to playing ALTTP after playing this hack.

Just one question - do the area names stay on-screen all the time, or do they fade out after entering an area? And also...has the dungeon map screen been given an overhaul too as well as seemingly every other aspect of the game?

Awesome work.

Shiek is also definately 'Sheik' (just been playing OOT). Hopefully these mistakes are quick to fix (if the date on the file select screen you recently showed is anything to go by...), because everything else looks perfect.

Dont forget the full speed GBA emulator coded from scratch for the PSP that is right now running better for me than VBA is on my computer.

Seriously, it's pretty fucking amazing. I've got over 200 GBA games on my memory stick, and apart from a very select few (yoshi's island), they all run flawlessly at full speed with no frameskip in full-screen mode with interpolation.

Amazing.

Edit - actually, I'll upload a video. Just for the hell of it.

Well, my parents already had a 2gb memorystick duo for their stills camera. I just swapped my 32mb free PSP one around with it.

They never noticed.

And it took not much time to downgrade the PSP, but it was pretty sketchy. One bad move, and it would have been screwed up for good. Luckily everything went alright though.

So basically, it cost me £150 for a console that lets me play homebrew including MP3 players, a DIVX player, a near-perfect GBA emulator and an internet radio program.

Not too bad. Keeps me entertained at school and on long train journeys anyway. I think I have something like 20 albums on there right now, 30 gba games (took a load off) and a few DIVX films I ripped from my DVDs (Die Hard, Clockwork Orange).

That's what menus are for. Put them on the pause screen or map. Or at least at the top of the screen where they're not in the way.
Trust me they don't get in the way...At least I've never noticed them doing so.

Yeah, the level names are fine. It's an amazing hack, anyhow. Trying to work out how to get to the docks right now...maybe I should try again while not so tired.

Well, me and my girlfriend have split up. So that means my plans are pretty much fucked.

I've been invited to about 5 parties, but ive decided to go to one thats outside down at the local town. But I'm hoping I'll have somewhere to stay overnight.

I admit, I did find the guardhouse frustrating and annoying. And this is coming from someone who finished ALTTP when he was 5. I literally almost gave up and only got out of it by sheer luck. After finally getting through it, I had no desire whatsoever to continue playing due to the fact that it just was not fun. And fun is why I play games. Even the dungeons in OOT: Master Quest were fun. To be honest, if there was a SMW equivalent of the guardhouse level released in the SMW hacking forums it would have been torn to shreds. Absolutely no hacks should make the user rely on savestates and be impossibly hard just for the hell of it. The number one aim of a hack should be enjoyable gameplay. And I'm sorry to say, but that first level was most definately not that. It was gaming hell.

However, since getting out of there, aside from the numerous grammar mistakes, it has improved drastically. The overworld design is stunning, and what you would expect from Nintendo themselves. I just hope dungeon two matches the exceptionally high standard set by the overworld (which IMO the first one did not).

So yeah. I've given this hack to a few friends to play through, and they left me some comments:

i got to the guard house and got killed by a guard outside of it.. then i hit save and continue and woke up in my fucking bed

fuck that.

im at the first dungeon, after you talk to saharsalahashaaha, or the guy at the docks, and ive decided i wont play this game anymore. its absurdly difficult. its so hard its not fun, just plain annoying.

for example, it just took me 15 minutes to kill those jumping vikings in the first dungeon just to find out i need the big key in the next room to continue, which i dont have, which means i have to kill these vikings again after i get the key, which im not planning to do.

seriously, what was this guy thinking? the overworld is awesome, but the insane difficulty completely ruins everything.

I really agree with this. The dungeons just let the entire game down, and its a real shame.
