Prinnyhero,

On the world map, was everytime you walked horizontal? In other words, in every time you failed to make Mario walk, was it on a horizontal path?

Yes actually.

OK then, it looks you're using the impassable horizontal road. Anyway, tile #49 "E.-W. Road C" is impassable. You should go in and make sure you use tile #45 "E.-W. Road A" instead, which is passable. Let's see if that works....

But why is road 49 Impassable?

I think it's so they can have an image of a road, but without Mario actually being able to go across it. If you open an unhacked ROM and look at World 1 to the left of the Start Space, you'll see tile #49, the impassable road. They just wanted to have a road there, but without Mario actually being able to pass it.

Also to anyone out there, BE MY SAVIOR AND HELP ME WITH THE FIRST QUESTION, ITS DRIVING ME INSANE!!!!

Thanks

In the first question, I've seen that problem before. I figured it out, but I'm having trouble remembering how I fixed it and what was causing it. I remember that putting certain objects in your level not supported by the tileset would cause something similar. And I know there's some complication between whether the game considers an object 3-byte or 4-byte. As for objects ending up on other levels despite not putting many in, I'm afraid I can't help you there.

In other words, take what I said with a grain of salt, but perhaps it could be helpful as you go along the process. Also, try reading the help file that comes along with the editor.

Where's hukka when you need him?

LOL, it's cool man. But anyway, I checked Webster's dictionary for the definition of libations, and you, Ziff, could very well have been referring to:

2 a : an act or instance of drinking often ceremoniously b : BEVERAGE; especially : a drink containing alcohol

Bring 'em on!

Anyway, I'm the new mod here, helping to keep an eye on things. This is a forum where people can easily get pretty passionate, and while passion is usually good, it can sometimes lead to things like flaming each other and forgetting the debate entirely, which isn't cool. I'll help Ziff keep that sort of thing down on here.

Prinnyhero,

SMB3 Map Editor lets you add more Mushroom Houses, or edit stages, etc. Select the pointer you want to change, and press enter. Then go to Toad House on the left list, and pick the item selection you want from the right list.

Read up on the SMB3 Map Editor Readme (distributed with SMB3MAP) for answers to your questions. The thing about the tower in World 5 (not 6) is also mentioned in the Readme. Read up then ask questions!

I'm not advocating that you be taken somewhere and forced to use marijuana recreationally, i'm only advocating that for a drug with such minor side effects and actually some benefits, that it be legal for people to enjoy risk-free in the privacy of their own homes. You dont want to do it, then dont involve yourself with it, no big deal. Whats next? Make white lies illegal? Cheating on your BF/GF? Eating fast food? None of those things are good, and can hurt people, but making them crimes would be ridiculous. Economics make a very poor basis for a value system. The government could make tons of money by simply writing laws making it legal to take valuables away from the citizens, but that would'nt make it the right thing to do. I've personally suffered great losses due to alchohol and nicotine, but that does'nt mean it'd be better if possession of alchohol were made a felony carrying huge penalties. That would just ruin even more lives.

I agree. I think many lives get ruined from marijuana not from the effects of the drug itself, but from the cops throwing people in jail.

I agree 100% that freedom should be the default state of affairs and the burden of proof should be on those advocating outlawing or continued outlawing, rather than on those trying to keep legalized or legalize.

And yeah, california had been doing that medicinal marijuanna thing for a good while now. My dad is a BS "certified caregiver" or some tomfoolery like that because he takes care of his.... uh, I dunno what the relation is, ladyfriend of some kind... And is allowed to possess a certain number of pounds of marijuanna. So is the woman who needs it for glycoma. They've been running this little specific thing for about a year now.

"Drugs
Though the Netherlands has a tolerant attitude towards drug use (possession of small quantities of soft drugs for personal use being tacitly allowed), hard drugs and marijuana (or hash) are still technically illegal. Buying drugs offered by street vendors is a dangerous and risky business, especially in the red-light district, and should be avoided at all costs."

another fact not straight...

See? It's easy to make mistakes, isn't it?

On a seperate note, I find it funny that people blame their government for their inability to control themselves on things they reasonably shouldn't do. It's like having a button that says "DO NOT PRESS", and everyone keeps saying "FUCK YOU, I SHALL PRESS THIS BUTTON", and then something bad happens. Then blames the button.

If the government takes the person and throws them in jail for it, then yes it is the government's fault.

Discussion of alcohol on this thread is fine, as long as it's still tied back into smoking marijuana. If the discussion diverges too much, however, such as discussing the legal age of drinking without tying it back into smoking marijuana, then I ask that somebody create a new thread to discuss just that. This has been a good thread, so I don't want to have to close it.

Not everyone sees thing the way you do. Get over it. You're being the biggest damn hypocrite in the world, making a thread to bitch about people that bitch. My god.
I never said anyone was wrong and that I was right about everything. You're the one jumping on my back.

Hypocrite? I'm bitching because of people who don't take advantage of their lives at hand, not because they bitch. People bitch all the time (I am now). It's stupid, illogical things that shouldn't be bitched about.

This is why you're an idiot. You don't seem to understand what logical means and why it is such a great tool that is (or in your case, isn't) utilized by our minds.

I just don't see the point in so many things people do. If there isn't a logical and life-improving aspect of something you're doing, why the fuck are you doing it?

Okay, chill buddy. This thread was on the boundary, but now there's flaming. I'm closing this now, thanks.

Posted on 04-04-06 02:52 PM, in Learn to Code with the ASM 6502 (how-to) Link
The way I ended up learning how to code with the ASM 6502, in case anyone's interested, was by using a resource that took you step by step in creating a simple maze game; this allowed you to see a real practical application of the code, allowed you to familiarize yourself with the code, and be encouraged that you can do stuff with the code. Of course, I expanded on the concept by adding collisions and sprite animation and even a little bit of sound when I made my BKG ROM:

http://nesdev.parodius.com/bkg.zip

I can't seem to find the resource anymore, but perhaps one of us could make a resource like that to help out newbs. IMO, there should be such resources for other systems as well.

Hang in there!
