Because it seems to be more of a problem here than anywhere else?
Jeez, lay off the poor guy...he does something to help the community, and all you guys can do is nitpick. All this talk of image converting tools and whatnot only serves to confuse n00bs even more, which is exactly what his little online tool was designed NOT to do. Anyway, nice job, mvent2. Hopefully people will find it useful. |

Please try to be a little more descriptive...we have no idea what "itemfix" you're talking about.
(I swear I posted this several times on the old board...) |

Strangely enough, Hammer Mario has a sliding graphic (as that picture shows), but it's impossible to see without hacking (or glitching, maybe?)

You know, it probably wouldn't be too hard to modify the routine that constructs the level in RAM to write a different block number based on certain conditions. I'll bet the Switch Block code could be easily adapted to most any block...

The SNES doesn't have nearly enough VRAM to display more than one tileset in a single level.
I really don't see what this has to do with Blocktool... |

Wow, it took me a while to figure this one out.
For future reference: when you say "hex address," most of us naturally assume you want an actual address within the ROM data. Just say "level number," and there shouldn't be any trouble. |

Acting like a mod, or suggesting moderators take action in a thread you have no connection to, is generally frowned upon. We'll close it only if it becomes necessary, or if the original poster requests it.

While I greatly dislike teenagers in general (having served one too many unruly ones at work), I used to be one, and thus can see how wrong this really is. It just seems really inhumane, treating them all like common household pests, regardless of whether they're causing trouble or not. I wouldn't want to shop there, just for that reason.

Originally posted by asdfIf that were true, the online scanner (http://virusscan.jotti.org) would've reported the file as clean. I just ran my copy through the online scanner, and it reported the same thing. I'm guessing all the scanners that reported (hopefully ) false positives use similar detection code, and part of YY-CHR's code just happens to look like some obscure virus. With so many viruses and Windows applications available nowadays, you're bound to have some unintentional overlap. I've been using YY-CHR for years, and not once has it exhibited even remotely virus-like behavior. I wouldn't worry too much. |

Hey, you know when you're editing NES ROMs, and you select one of the 8 4-color palettes, and the entire left pane changes to that set of colors?
Yeah, that. Well, try pressing Ctrl-M sometime... Hey, look. A new button. COL SET. SWEET MERCY! This secret button allows you to assign a different palette to each 8x8 tile in the ROM! Simply select a tile from the left pane, select the palette you want it to use, then click anywhere in the right pane. You can even scroll around in the ROM, and it'll keep track of the recolored tiles. Unfortunately, this only works in NES mode (AFAIK), but you can always copy the graphics, paste them in a new window in NES mode, edit them, and paste them back into the first window in their original format. Also, it doesn't actually change the palettes in the ROM itself, but hopefully most of you already know that. |

Wow. Heaven forbid ROM hacking should take some actual effort!

When my Voodoo 4's (yes, I still use one ) fan started chattering recently, I simply removed it from the card, peeled the sticker back a little (the "drive shaft" or whatever you call it is usually underneath), and CAREFULLY put a drop of oil in the hole. It's quiet as a mouse now.
From what I've heard, you shouldn't use compressed air on small computer fans. Apparently, this can make them spin too fast, destroying the bearings. I've always done it without problems, though... |

More hidden (yet useless ) features: hold Ctrl-# (where # is a number, 1-5) and press the arrow keys to move the different panes around inside the window, or Shift-# to adjust various system colors. (too bad Resource Hacker doesn't reveal any unused icons or text...or anything at all, for that matter)

Originally posted by d4sI can vouch for that. Anyway, lack of appreciation is just something you have to deal with in SMW hacking (and often ROM hacking as a whole). Just look at all the complaints FuSoYa's had to put up with because Lunar Magic doesn't perform x function, or isn't quite user-friendly enough... |
