PGTM: Try to stick to the topic.

Dei: I doubt it's a motherboard issue, as faulty motherboards generally don't cause the "CLICK OF DEATH." MM88: It's probably as good as toast. Spinning platter + thrashing head + 3 minutes = massive swath of destruction. Besides, even if it was still salvageable, data recovery is an extremely expensive process, since it must be done in a clean room with specialized equipment. I'm pretty sure it's at least a few thousand dollars. Unless you're rich or run a business, you're probably out of luck.

Uh, I just tried this, and the music engine did indeed blow up. Started the first level, and BAM--no sound at all. The majority of the ported tunes did this, in fact. (using KEGA Fusion, if it helps)
|
You're also going to have to turn that into an IPS patch. We can't have ROM links here. Sorry...

Oh, wow. That Gunstar-ified version of Panic Puppet (#85) is friggin' AWESOME. :o
|
It kinda messes up after the first loop, though...

BMF54123, with a couple of cute holiday/special event variants here and there (Neko54123, BMF3PO, BMF98567). I'd feel weird going by anything else. |

I really think you need to work on just one hack at a time. All three of those look incredibly...generic, especially the last two. SMB3 graphics are about as overused as YI graphics now. Pacman Advanture (it's "Adventure," BTW) is easily the most interesting idea of the bunch, but as it stands right now, it's just another bland level hack with a yellow circle in place of Mario.
|
(uh, why is Mario transparent in "Dangerous Missio?")

Change $3F648 to 3A and $9E70 to whatever tile you want to use. Keep in mind, though, that the "unused" kicking sprites ARE used--a green/red/yellow Koopa will kick an upside-down shell to flip it over. |

Actually, I tried the BIN patch on a BIN ROM and got the same results. SMD worked fine, though. The BIN was directly converted from the SMD before patching. |

Actually, I'd recommend against using PalASM. It's old and crusty and limited and generally a pain to work with. Try LevelASM instead, it uses an indexed ROM table and actual JSLs, so you can place your code anywhere in the ROM (PalASM limits you to one 32K bank). |

Wow, congrats. You've made the patching process even MORE confusing for n00bs by adding a pointless "3 floppy" requirement!

Uh, no...not the answer we're looking for.

Changing the Boos' palette can only be done via a hex editor (you need to change which palette NUMBER they use, not the colors themselves). I suppose I could try to find the data...

Does it happen while Windows is running, or when you shut down?
|
Most of the time, if your clock is acting screwy, it means you need to change the battery on your motherboard (especially if you get any CMOS errors). However, some motherboards are really bad at keeping track of time, no matter how fresh the battery is. Before I replaced my main computer's battery, it would fall behind a couple of minutes each day, but only after I ran certain programs a few times (Lunar Magic did it on a consistent basis). With the new battery, it tends to jump AHEAD a few minutes, but not quite as often as before. So confusing.
