Hey everyone I know how you guys have a welcome noobs section and everything, but to tell you the truth... I am completely lost. For a very long time now i've been looking for tutorials everywhere, and I've even skimmed all the pages in this thread. the editor by VL-Tone looks very interesting and I hope it comes out soon. But can someone please tell me what tools I need right now to make a rom, and possibly get me started. I am just so lost, i thought this thread might be able to help me . Please help me I am in desperate need. For a while I wanted to make my own pokemon game, but for a while now I've actually been wanting to edit sm64. If someone could please either respond in this thread or send me a PM I would greatly appeciate it. Thank you . (and again, sorry that the fact my first post was not in the noob thread) |

Thanks guys Well I may not know programming but from experience I can know how things work. I dont really need to upload my own sm64 rom to my computer. From what i've heard its legal to download the rom yourself as long as you own a copy of the game which i do. But can someone please get me started by doing things such as telling me what programs they reccommend i download? If so that would be great, thanks again.
PS: But to get me started I will take a look at Lunar Magic, thanks for the tip. ![]() (edited by DSgamer692 on 07-25-06 09:15 AM) |

Thanks guys, but i actually dont think tutorials will be necessary anymore It seems VL-Tone's tools are very easy to use I didn't know he had other tools. on romhacking.net I found his text editor. I could say that was very simple to use because it didnt require any knowladge of coding at all. Thanks VL-Tone! Can't wait for your map editor, hopefully it will be as easy as your other stuff! However I will still probalby wanna learn how to code games because SM64 in the future I'm sure will now be the only game I will want to code. However, thanks for the help guys! I think i'll start reading those tutorials on romhacking.net. Sorry for posting in the wrong topic, I wont do that anymore. |

hmmm.... you dont have to asnwer this if u consider me lazy for asking this But I am using Tile Molester and when i load the rom, all the tiles are all over the place, disorganized and impossible to find on this huge list, some I cant even find on there at all! and some are disoriented Is there a way to fix this? I've been trying for hours but with no luck. Also, could someone please tell me how to put your own pictures in it? I do paste from... open the pic, but it wont mount, I will always be able to move it and if i scroll, it scrolls with me If someone could please help me i would greatly appreciate it Thanks. |

yup It said at romhacking that to use the text program that I should expand the rom first, so yes I did that. Thanks for checking though. And thanks for the thread link i'm gonna go check that out. Everyone here is nice![]() |

Anyway I got the Tile Molester to be a bit easier to use although it will be annoying to find the exact texture I want however, thats life What I dont like about Tile molester is that its hard to find exact textures (and when u do u might not even be sure its the one ur looking for). And its hard to get pics to fit in exactly. For example, while having a bit of fun for experimenting, I decided to use a bit of humor and make the entrance to the bomb omb lvl painting in a pic of lil jon This is the original pic i got. And ull see from the screens I uploaded that is not what i got even though I tried to make the pic fit the exact size of the portrait Plus when trying to highlight and place something, you cant be very spacific. It might jump a few spaces making it very hard to be precise.
I really dont mean to be a little whining complaining jerky nub, but its true If anyone has any tips plz say so
and again, thanks to everyone for helping me get started. ---edit--- Hmmm I realized that the way i stretched the picture was bad so I took the pic of the lil jon one off to save room. Now all I have to work on is getting good quality .
