Is it possible to change a certain enemy into Mario then edit that enemy's colors to make a Luigi enemy? That'd be hilarious! Should I create a topic for SM64 GS Codes?

That sounds like a good idea, this thread has too many off-shoot topics. but come to think of it the editor was an off-shoot topic as well... do what you want I guess.

The filesystem trend is probably just to help developers worry less about how to store data, and worry more about the actual data.

Yeah, and they just made it much easier to hack HA! HA! HA!

Keep goin' VL we are being very patient.

Gens did something to them!
Dang!
I'll just do it again...(sigh...)
But I'll do it for the cookies!
Thanks for the image posting tutorial also!

Oh, I can only use "time" because the rom got messed up when I started to do it again. I hacked a rom so it would work like yours but then I would shut it off after I beat the boss, alter the rom so the first level was the next boss, and then beat the next boss... now that I look at it I did not have the same odds as you... back to the drawing board... I'll try your patch again I guess.

I was using Bombchickens model editing codes on the first goomba in Bob-omb Battle Feild but it just turns the goomba invisible can anyone get it to work? I'm using PJ64 so don't say it's an emulator problem.

read this. Oh yeah the patch no longer works, I even re-downloaded it, so I'll have to hack the rom myself.

Instead the game freezes. I tried again on 1964, but the game just froze whenever I entered another level. It also froze ith the four part code that works in front of the castle. could you make a working 1964 version?

I have the same problem, we need to find Bombchicken. He'll clear this whole thing up. after all, he was the one who posted the codes.

I've never heard of a beta still existing in the rom? This is something worth googling.
Yoshi, do you have any pics or links to any info on this?

So that's what it is, I also have the BBA but no PSO. I remember seeing a tutorial for this now that I think about it. It might be in the Animal Crossing thread. Either that or it's on some random site.

Posted on 07-06-06 01:48 PM, in Hi! I need help on hacking roms.... Link
7. What's up with those pirate games, such as Super Donkey Kong 99, Somari and Sonic blast 1986? How did those pirates modify those games? The same way you guys do or do they have access to much more capable equipment? (I'm only asking because a lot of pirate games came out aaaaaages ago, and it seems that rom hacking has only took off post millenium...) (originally posted by Sonic3)

These guys were Chinese. That means they were =

A) Smart

B) Able to sell anything in the Chinese market because Nintendo didn't want to deal with them. Now nintendo has made a system called the I Que or something
specifically for the Chinese to prevent this.

C) They are not really pirates. people put them down as pirates but they aren't. Since they programmed the games themselves all they did that was illegal was steal a trade marked/copyrighted (not sure which one it is) character. My definition of a pirated game is a hacked one removing the presence of the original creators and being sold so that the profits go to the pirates, not the orginal company. It is not illegal to make your own game as long as you don't steal characters.

D) as said above they did not modify games, Super Donkey Kong 99, Somari and Sonic blast 1986 (or sonic blast 6) were programmed from scratch.

E) I don't know about the equipment. Probably just some cheap old program for some cheap old computer.

I did some research and the only thing I came up with is that maio kart DS' rainbow road is actually the beta of mario kart 64's rainbow road. This is probably what made Yoshi ask this.

It's of SMB3 (duh) and every level has a green coin you can collect. You will go from world to world using a pipes on the map screen (there's no king, no princess letters, etc, etc). I will have the pipes appear after completing the boss stage. Now, I need some use for the green coins. I might make it so you must unlock pipes using the green coins, or I might make it so that you can only access some power-ups based on the number of green coins you have.

Ideas are very welcomed.

How about making it so you can re-enter the levels after you complete them like smw. Have the green coins be used as payment at toad houses for using power ups. The only powerups you should have in a level is a mushroom. the rest should be purchasable in a toad house. the coins should also be used forpayment to get into the warp pipe but then you should make it like a normal under ground level but when you get out you are in the new world. one more thing, try turning the aline the pictures correctly minigame in to a slot machine. I hope someone will try to make a hack like this.
