| Hmm. For some reason I wasn't able to post a reply the other day when I tried. So much for that post. Long story short, you did a fantastic job on world design. The game is kinda slow at first, with all the back and forth to get the basics, but it really comes into its own around the time you have to do the hell run... which was a real bastard but I got it eventually. Could I have bombed up and gotten that 4th tank before dying had I known it was there? Maybe I'll have to start a new game and see.
Anyway, like I said it had good points and bad, but kudos to you on a superb hack. I don't see why people had so much difficulty with wall jumping, I can 1wj if I care to give it a few tries. Anyway, I had a point. And here it comes. Note the hole I can't reach in the photo. As far as I can tell there's no way to reach it... and even if there is, it would mean coming from the other side, which would be pointless. Did you do that specifically to tease us? | I've got the speed booster, wave, spazer, high jump, grapple, scope and various tanks, can't explore Maridia yet... and I'm kinda lost. Been running around for several days. I've found a bunch of missile tanks and whatnot, but haven't advanced in the game. What of these Lost Caverns people have posted about... could someone give me a hint as to where I should be concentrating? I'd appreciate it as I think I've pretty much exhausted almost every place I've got mapped out.
*edit* Found the lost caverns. (They live up to thier name, I'm clueless for now.) That entrance was pretty obscure, even though there was a slight visual cue. Woulda been a lot easier if passages showed up on the scope. No real complaint though, as I found all kinds of upgrades while looking. (edited by Kasdarack on 06-22-06 09:37 AM) |

| I'd be pretty devestated... I've just always seen myself with a nice girl and 2 or 3 children. I've always been good with kids and little kids love me. My sister has a 19 month old now and I love her to death.
Still, I think I would be able to love a child who didn't carry my genes just as much. The joy is in the raising them and helping them grow anyway. My little bro's fiancee has cysts on her ovaries and she miscarried when they got pregnant. So even if you save eggs you might not be able to carry to term without your ovaries simply because of hormonal issues. But on the same token... you may very well be able to. I think you should have it done now or you might regret it for the rest of your life. Surrogacy could also be an option. Or you could adopt. I recommend adopting in a foreign country (such as Russia) as that would eliminate the possibility of certain complications down the road and also the waiting list could potentially be much shorter. I know I'm new here and you don't know me, but I hope for the best for you in this situation. Maybe you'll be able to keep your ovary. And just because you don't ovulate doesn't mean you don't have viable ova. Stay optimistic. |

| I used to have decently long rock n roll hair when I was singing for my last band. I had always wanted it so I started growing it out near the end of high school (I got bitched at for it violating dress code my entire senior year.) I've had receding hair since high school too. I'm lucky though in that my hair looks good long, mid, short, slicked back, red, electric blue... messed up... and now gone. I got bold and clipped it short earlier this year. ...Well okay that's bullshit. I chickened out and asked my little bro's fiancee to "fuck it up real bad" (yeah that's obscene and in poor grammar, but no other phrase would do it justice.) After that I had to buzz it to fix it and I like it a lot. I'd hate it if I didn't have a stache/goatee but I've had one of those since I got a decent amount of hair on my face. I'd go into why but that's a totally different story and you don't wanna hear about it.
anyway, I buzz my trimmers over my head every third day on the shortest setting. Shaved would be bleh but the stubbly look is good on me. Still... some days I miss my long hair with the flippy wave at shoulders. (edited by Kasdarack on 06-22-06 10:33 PM) |

| Dude... I didn't get dates when I was 16 either. I sometimes even thought along the lines you're thinking. But things change, especially once high school is over. College life and real life (high school is most assuredly NOT real life) are not so cliquish and awkward.
I happen to be an attractive guy and I'm pretty damned cool too. Did I know this in high school? Nope. I thought I was a weird, unnatractive dork. Your outlook on things will change, as will peoples' views of you. As far as getting dates with girls... well... The most important thing you can have is confidence in yourself. Before you start to say "but Kas, (blahblahblah,") let me continue. I don't care what you look like. I don't care what sort of lifestyle you have (unless you're heavy into drugs or don't bathe often.) I don't care if you're a jock or a nerd (being a nerd is not necessarily at all uncool.) There will be people who are interested in you for who you are as long as you're interested in yourself. It may be that the trick is in finding them, but they're there. Since you're a guy, I'm also willing to bet that there have been girls interested in you that you've overlooked or not noticed. We all do that. We're guys, we miss things. When you find a girl you like, the main thing to do is not to try too hard and either look like an ass or drive them away. And not all of them will return your interest. If that's the case, don't push too hard, just let it go. The high school scene can be stagnant, too. I'm willing to bet you have friends of both sexes that have friends from other schools in the area. Since they are friends of people you hang out with, some of them are bound to share interests with you. Hang out with them. Ask one of them to prom. Girls love prom, they get to buy new dresses. And with a girl from another school there's less chance that she'll be going to yours already. Plus, you can leave behind any mental baggage you have from school that keeps you from asking. | You don't have someone who has always cut your hair for years? Yeah, I'd be nervous too. My stylist cut my hair for most of my life. I know and trust him well, even to the point that I'm upset that I buzz my own hair now because now I don't go sit in his chair and have a conversation and say "whatever, I trust you" when he asks how I want it cut.
When you get it cut (and don't go to someone who calls him or herself a barber, see a stylist =P) if it comes out well then keep going back. If you're not satisfied, never go back. Someone who is good at it will never butcher you unless it's your fault, and even then they'll try pretty hard to talk you out of it. I guess you're about to take a leap of faith. Good luck! |

| My only complaint with the portraits is that several of them look like a very different person than the character as portrayed by the sprites. Especially Terra. Ok, maybe mainly just Terra...

| Ok... I find myself wanting another tat. But I don't want to be that guy who has all those tattoos and is therefore kinda gross/skanky.
How many tats is too many? How big is too big? What sort of tattoo subject material is meh? I have two tats. An orange and red Coi on my right calf http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a118/kasdarack/Tattoos/newtat.jpg and an ankh on the right side of my lower abdomen about an inch or an inch and a half lower than the belly button. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a118/kasdarack/Tattoos/Picture18.jpg Both of those pics are old and neither were fully healed when snapped. The red in the ankh tat is just bruising because it was fresh. It's actually lightly gold tinted in those areas. I'm thinking my next tat will either be of three ravens in a circle grasping eachother's legs on the back of my left shoulder or of my own redesign of the codex of ultimate wisdom (wiki it) into knotwork on my left calf. Should I not do that? I don't want to limit my future dating options by having too many tattoos. Your opinions appreciated. |

| Hey Drew, I've gotten into Maridia and find that when I land in the quicksand I have to reset every time unless there's a slope leading out it. Was that intentional? Is there some technique other than mashing jump as fast as I can that I should know about? It makes a few rooms pretty nasty because of blind jumps. | |||

| No real meaning behind the ravens thing, I just think it would look really cool.
The codex though would mean a lot to me, especially if I can refine my knotwork of it into something I'm really satisfied with (to show off my celtic heritage.) I'm not an overly religious person, but I think the virtues and principles represented by the codex are ways of living that everyone should strive for, regardless of religious beliefs. | I've never managed to pass Technical Writing.
I drop it every time. I always get pissed off because it's a liberal arts class. I'm a senior in geology/gis and I have written serious papers for all of my 300 and 400 level classes and for several of the 200s. I can write a damned good paper. Any of those A papers would fail me in tech writing. Why? Because the class is fucking stupid and no one with a BA knows how to write a scientific paper. Instead of doing something interesting I am told to spend vast amounts of time in the library doing pointless research. No sir. Most quarters I make sure that my projects are all related. My GIS and GPS projects will all be based on the area I'm doing whatever geology paper on. This saves me massive amounts of time AND strengthens my work for each individual class because whatever I'm working on is fleshed out and supported. Can I attempt to use that work for tech writing? No sir. I get told that that is not how the class works and that it would be plagiarism. Plagiarism? Doing a writeup or overview for presentation of a project that is mine anyway is plagiarism? The exact same practice is perfectly acceptable and indeed encouraged in Technical Presentation. Technical Presentation pwns Speech btw. *sighs* When will they make separate tech writing classes for BS and BA students? I guess I'll take the damned class one more time during my last quarter here. Yeah, we're on the quarter system. It sucks more than you can imagine. /end rant. |
