Hey everyone. I just started here and this seemed the best place to go for help with the FFHackster, and I have a lot of questions that I just... well... would like to know. Mind you, the version of the game I am using is patched as the FF Bug Fix that I Joshua Ball made on Slick Productions. ( http://slick.panicus.org/ff1patch.php?id=FF1BugFix ) Well, let me start off here with some basic questions.

Is it possible to change the class titles in the opening select? (Blk Mage > Bard, Wht Mage > Dancer, etc)
Is it possible to seperate the color palete? (I don't want Fighter and Ninja to be similarly colored.)
Is it possible to change the screen where the 'true' opening and the closing is? (When crossing the bridge and when you beat Chaos)
Is it possible to change the text at the begining and end of the game (Four warriors and the Orbs, Success of the Warriors)
How do you change the sprites of town folk? (Arylon the dancer is a notable difference.)
Is it possible to insert a prompted battle? (Garland, Pirates, Astos, Vampire, Fiends, Chaos)
Is it possible to add extra townsfolk? (Say I want a pirate in Corneria? [Coneria? wtfever])
If so, can they talk?

And lastly for now, if there is anything I can do here, but can't do with FFHackster, what do I need, and where do I find it?

Griff Morivan

P.S. Is there any total walkthrough? More than a hint here and an idea there?

P.P.S. Is it possible to change all those black squares on the sprite editor to actual colors? (I need a yellow, specifically)

Okay, thus far I've answered a few questions through some minor help and some poking around. I figured out the Class Name changing, and I'm not too concerned with the color to make a fuss. I have not found a tile editor that'll do what I want with that title screen, nor have I found where to edit the special texts (Warriors with Orbs, Starting their Quest, killing Chaos, all that). I've... kinda... found out how to make townfolk different, but it works on a give-take sort of thing. Man from Provoka will always say "HELP!" or what have you. Prompted battles ARE possible through the FFHplus, and I have nooooo clue how to change an actual sprite of a towny. So, yeah. There are still some standing questions, but I can get to work. More or less.

Alright, now this is something for me, and I've got a problem. Maybe I'm dee dee dee, but.

I can't seem to find where to go to get the values for the intro and all that. Because I followed the advice in the old thread...

http://board.acmlm.org/archive/thread.php?id=1199

But now I'm stuck, cause I can't enter the values. It says there is a limit that is 300...something. Now, am I doing this wrong? Someone give me a more detailed walkthrough of finding these, cause I feel fuckin' stupid.

~~~
Okay, new problem as I'm coming along. Other than the intro text and all that.
Is there any way I can have the same sprite in two different places and NOT say the same thing? My example is this.
I went into Corneria and made the boy from Provoka say something stupid, then attack with Imps. (Doable with FFHackster and the Companion), and then put the same guy in the Temple of Fiends, all the way to the north of the room. This time, I wanted him to come at me with pirates. Problem was, when I talked to him in Corneria, he had the pirates.
Is there some kind of restriction on using a sprite twice, or am I just Shit outta luck?
Yeah, I cleared that one up. My problem now lies with basicly my two big things. The major scene texts (Opening, cross bridge, beat Chaos), and then wanting to be able to edit the screen that the latter two are displayed on.
One person somewhere on this site said that you load the Text Editor, File > Table > DTE Table. Did that. Then they said go to $30...something. But the problem, is, any number over $300001 I think it said doesn't exist.
Alright, new question.
I want to make it so that I can completely eliminate Lefien, but do a couple, slightly slightly odd things. Allow me to explain. In another town, (probably where Gaia now resides) I want to have an area where you will walk up to someone and talk to them. They will say something like,
The magics beyond this point could bring catastrophy. I will allow none to pass. Not even you, Warriors of Light. -Begin pretty hard fight, comparable to, maybe, Tiamat or some such-
Then, when you beat him, you walk forward a smidge, and it's another sprite (another Lefien, but the same character), and he will say something kinda dank before dying. When this happens, you can go forward and get all the level 8 magics in one section of this town.
Now, the thing is. I sort of want this battle to trigger the other person appearing. Like he won't show up until you beat the 'boss' fight. Kinda like when you talk to Garland 3 times before he appears as Chaos. -=-edit-=- But, like, in reverse.
Is this possible?
NEW QUESTION!
Is it possible to make seperate towns or edit shops? I want to make it so that specific things are a small town. Like a weird merchant town. Is it possible to make a new town that won't warp me to another town, or perhaps warp me to an unused section of town.
-scratch that-
Fuzzin' awesome thusfar. But I keep picking the wrong direction, I think, and I run into the green pirates and get whomped. Hard.
I do say this. I was shocked when I found the first pirates. And... Well. They are not what they used to be. If this is the same story as METROID 3 : SUPER METROID, then I won't, but I was wondering if Drew would be willing to OK a story being writen to it after I finish the whole thing.
S'all I was curious about, is if it was it's own story.
I've beaten Spore Spawn. That was kinda hard, man. I'm 199 energy, 2 missle packs, morphball.
I did notice one thing that was... akward. When I shoot down a pirate, they didn't always flinch. I never had that problem in the original, so if it happened before, then I'm dumb and just missed it.
-Edits deleted to keep me from looking really dumb-
ANOTHER EDIT
Did you know the comic author of Metroid: Third Derivative comment about your game? I think it's yours, even though I haven't see this spot yet, I am fairly sure it is, what with the bomb counter and the unusual placement of a save canister.
If I missed it and I am retarded, forgive me, but is the third life tank in or around Kraid's area? Cause, like, I had two energy tanks, and I can not make it through Norfair on that.
All I needed to know. Time to bomb the hell out of lower Brinstar!
Scratch that. May I please have a cryptic message? Like, something so weird and obscure, it won't make shit for sense? Like, shooting the reflector could be like, "Nigh the pools of death lie your angle of god's fist" or some really weird thing.
Please? Where? Cause the water area kicks my ass.
I missed it in the thread, but yeah, I'll go look. thanks.
Edit - Upon going to that room, the same room I looked in like six times, I feel like a moron. Not a little moron. Not special class in pre school moron. I'm talking grade dubya moron.
Thanks, Alastor, Kas, and Leno.
Oh the hellrun is just fun! Laughingly enough, after the middle point, where there is that lake and the lift thing that goes across? I ran off too early.
Yeah, found Varia after a weird hunch. I'm at 399/43/4 with only WJ-boots and Varia suit. Sorta wandering around to find the next place to go, but after looking around the thread, I'm not sure. Didn't quite slip past that shutter to the west of Norfair's elevator, and the only other place I think to go is that purple door all the way east, near the far end of the hell run? But I can't make the jump through the lava.
S'a pain, but this is by far, the coolest Metroid anything I've ever seen.
edit - Woah wait. It just dawned on me. There already was a power up in the fly room? I never saw one.
And on another note, the inability to stand up in an area where one would have the ability to stand is dreadfully annoying. And if you know what I mean in the area I mean, that pack of missles was NOT worth it. -tear-
There was a 10-pack missle in that little death room across the way, but nothing in the fly room.
So now I'm 499(I found the E-pack in the bomb maze during Hell Run)/53/4 with no clue where to go.
-nod- Thanks, Drew. Wonderful work, and I intend to share it with some people at other websites I frequent. This is the best game ever. In fact, I would go so far as to say it's better that Dr. Pepper. If you knew me, it'd be amazing.
Oh, and a humorous note, the Gapping Maw, snappers, things? That pipe path on the western of the two water rooms on the way to Kraid, if the snappers get you, they will actually rip you through the tunnel.
Yeah, man. I keep myself kinda... I tend to look all over the place for'em. At this point, I'm working on getting through west Norfair. You'll need those 3 tanks full when you run through Norfair. BELIEVE you me. I do have a suggestion, so here goes Spoil land.
Spoiler:
When coming back from the hell run, you'll come to that room with the tunnels and bomb jumps and all that. Drop down the tunnel right in front of you, then bomb the grate to your right. Drop down, it'll take a nice chunk from your run.
...urgh. Okay, I think. Think. This is the right room. I feel like such a failure...
There are four jumping red fish, and one Dragon, and it is an west enterance that goes to the west up to a dead and, a crawl hole and what appears to be a blast wall. I'm at 499/53/4 with WJboots and Varia, like my last post. But it's driving me nuts. Is this the right room and how to I get into that room?
...OH HELL.
Well. That's okay. I wanted to chart where I found stuff anyways. No time like the present... -tear-
Anyhow, um, Drew. I want to commend you. As hard as this is, I am loving it. Big time. Every bit is awesome, and the fact that I missed something vital actually makes me like it a little bit more.
