Posted on 06-28-06 10:28 PM, in 35/100? It'll curve up to an A Link
My English class this last year (My Junior Year) was terrible.

My teacher (Who was cool, mind you,) couldn't really control the class, most people didn't do the work, etc.

Then our last Trimester, our class switched teachers, and we're being taught by the IB Coordinator. 2/3rds of our class failed, and he didn't give a shit. We had one essay that I got a C on, (I asked most of our class, and that was the highest anybody had.) and he didn't stop for those who didn't give a shit. It was the best taught English class I had probably been in so far.

I escaped with (What appears to be) a B+. Small chance that could go to an A-.

Class Average was about 50%.

I was hit when I was like 5, I was crawling around on the monkey bars, and it hit my hand.

I freaked out, (Let go and started waving my hand around) and then fell into, and then off of the monkey bars.

I wiped it off, and never told anybody what made me fall. >.>

It was very obvious that the end result was something of this sort.

Well, at least to me.

They are also music artists rallying behind this too, one of which is one of my favorites, The Flaming Lips.

But what I don't see, is how even though the support for Net Neutrality is FAR higher than that opposing it, Congress is still neutral on the subject.

Fucking bastard US government. How about listening to the people? v.v

I lack an MP3 player, but I have around 3.45 Gigs in my main folder, with another half a gig in my appropriately named "Other Muzak" folder.

...Yeah, I'm lame. But that's better than the 50 or so songs I just had for a while...

The scary thing is, both these YTMND's are completely true. The CoS has no problem attacking any site with a negative viewpoint on them. They make you sign a contract to stay in, and people have died because of "The Church."

Not to mention, they've got security guards and people all around their main building in Florida, and a large amount of them are wearing street clothes, with just a camera..

That's creepy.

As far as that "Save the Internet" site goes, although I agree with the idea of net neutrality, they seem to be agruing the case for it in a very biased way.

They spend way too much time pushing hypothetical situations like ISPs purposely blocking or slowing down competing services. When the real issue is just ISP's desire to charge extra fee's to content providers and VOIP carriers to use more of the "last mile" bandwidth. Since bandwidth isn't infinate, this would likely lead to other site running slower. I think this is enough reason to support net neutrality, without worrying about mere possibilities when there's proof that they're actually going to happen.

The thing is, we don't want the internet to become just another form of media along with television.

You say the biggest problems are hypothetical, but you've got to realise that it's the same matter of how another thing runs. Try getting something on TV that isn't your local broadcast channel, it's not going to be easy. Even if you get it there, the chances of a real audience are close to nothing.

The internet doesn't work like that. It's not supposed to.

Posted on 07-07-06 07:27 PM, in Please explain to me WHY people still use AOL speak! Link
I hate AOL speak, mainly because it is like trying to translate something into a different language.

"lol i h8 aok speek!!111 iz lyk l00kN @ sumthin n a diffrnt lang.!!!11 rofl"

Seriously, I'm sure it takes longer to read the second example, and it sure as hell took longer for me to type it. I will never understand the need to type "h8" for "hate" or "ur" for "your," I mean shit, it's two more letters. And it takes longer for me to hit the "8" key than just to type "ate," which is a pretty easy set of strokes with just one hand.

I type the same almost always, and I really hate knowing that I misspell something. Just knowing that you can look at the word I typed and thing "Hey, what an idiot, he can't spell "hypocrite!" " or something to that extent.

I used to type like an idiot, I'll admit to that. But that was in the hayday of AOL speak, I was somewhere around 11 years old, and I used AOL. Ugh. But I was never as bad as those "wHo TyP lYk DiS cUz It HrTz PpLz Iz LoL"

Seriously, does hitting "shift" or "caps" for every key really make it worth the time? With the effort you wasted on doing that, couldn't you just type like you're supposed to? I'll never understand people sometimes.

I got bored, so I decided to play around and spent 20 seconds attempting to clean up that splash panel from a few comics back:

And one other problem:
The staircase in comic 4 shortens mid-comic. I may be the only person to realize it, but I caught on the second I saw the panel.

Aside from that, these aren't bad. Seems like the starter comics for some of the old, big comics before everybody started reading them. I would say, clean up the text boxes or something, because they still look a bit primative. And I enjoy the facial expressions on the Shyguys, you should use that more, and try and key them in with the humor of the comic.

*Sighs*

For all those who don't know (Apparently all of you,) there is a quick byte that you can edit to change enemy behavior.

Offset $6206(tsv) $6006(ntsv)
03 - normal
E0 - everything that touches ground bounces
E1 - everything that would bounce in E0 falls and some things walk through walls.
E6 - you can't stomp anything but you bounce off ie. goombas flatten then pop back up
FF - everything falls through the floor
17 - everything is bouncing around and giving you lots of points.
38 - 17 without the points
39 - enemies bounce after you
3B - everything bounces until it hits the lowest ground (cracked blocks) then it is carried away and can't hurt you.
42 - most things are scared and bounce away!
43 - most things are scared and run away even through bricks; jump off cliffs and then bounce if they land on ground
4D - 43 with less bounce
54 - everything runs VERY quickly your way through anything but doesn't turn around
56 - everything runs quickly your way through anything but does not turn around

There are much more interesting things that you can do with this byte. There is no proof that the game genie code you posted has anything to prove related to the second quest changing how Goombas act. All we know is what was in the game, AKA that they are now quicker when going through the game the second time. This is, unless you yourself made that code, and are completely positive it doesn't change enemy behavior.

A Mario-themed SimGolf mod, eh?

This is very interesting, as I've played the hell outta that game.

However, are you sure that Mushrooms would be the greatest replacement for "Deep Rough?" I was thinking more like, keep the grass and everything, change the animals, the characters, the buildings, and do things like make the trees into mushrooms, not grass.

But, it's your mod. Best of luck on it.

I like colour better, becuse it feels more comfortable to write. Color looks harsh compared to Colour.

Heh, I guess a dead-giveaway of me being American is the fact that I look at "Colour," and "Armour" as more of a "Why the hell is there an extra letter?"

Is it just me, or is the "5" that seems to appear at the start of most words not very consistant?

For example, when you do a line break or something, there is no lovely "5" as a prefix.
