Does this guy not know anything (The guy who made the article.)

He referred to it as a Map Editor.

LM is a level editor dumbass! It contains an overworld editor INSIDE! But it isnt a map editor.
Who actually thinks the guy who made the article actually can make a hack? Im
guessing that he is a guy who has no friends (a bit like me) and didn\'t read the helpfile, and probably didnt even read Fusoya\'s site when he downloaded it.

Stupid dumbass :@:@:@:@ (ANGRY)

OK, I\'ve calmed down now....

I rest my case (on that guy\'s head), and now go back to solitude and lazyness editing my hack.

You know, he may have just opened the rom, decided he wants mud/lava, and then it looked wrong. He may be trying to put it in a level that has no support for that object because the graphics setting arent correct.

Click level, click the thing nere the bottom that says about level graphics. He then can choose the graphics for his levels, two seperate dropdowns, one for objects and one for sprites.

This happened to me a few times, until I read the LM helpfile.

1) insert the exgfx
2) use map 16 to make the things you want
3) SAVE THE MAP 16 PAGE. This may be the problem with the background. I've done it loads. You have to save the map 16 or it won't look look how you wanted it to when played.

I'm guessing that Alastor is right about the mega mole pallette share, but I don't do much with enemies until the end of a hack.

If my information was useless, sorry.

I did say that it edited the overworld too. But if you think about it. A map is something which tells you where things are. Take a normal map in your home. It tells you where things are, like pub etc., but it doesn't tell you what is inside.the overworld shows a mapped set of paths to each level. the level editor - the main part of Lunar Magic, is what edits the insides.

Level Editor - What is inside a location
Map / Overworld Editor - The land in which everything is.

Sorry to rumble on like I am, but oh well. I'm just that sort of person.

Right, sorry if it's been asked before, but what do i need to use to edit the colour and gfx of the border (around the overworld).

Are there any tools (I couldn't see any on SMW central) for this job, or do I have to hex it?

Thanks for any help you can give...

If you are going to distribute ips patches that ARE NOT YOURS then at the very least put the name of the person who created it. In this case VL_Tone (also known as v_twin on other forums/boards) is the person who owns that IPS, so in future put the person's name/names.
Thats all I gotta say.

Well, with a bit of strenuous work I can create brilliant levels.

Thats pretty much it. I am pretty good at ripping, but I'm currently not putting them in until later so....

Right, when Mario is swimming, he lets of bubbles. Now I don't want to disable this out right, although I don't mind if I do.

I am thinking of placing a couple of space levels in my hack. So instead of trying some big ASM thing, I'm simply making the level act like a water level. But when I do this mario gives off the bubbles.

So what I want to know is - Is there any codes out there that I can place into my hack that disables the bubbles on a couple of levels. If you can't do that, but can disable the bubbles completly, that'll have to do

I did try to find the GFX for the bubbles so that I could make them unseeable with see thru black, but I was unable to find them in either seperate .bins or in the allgfx.bin

Thanks for any help that can be given, and sorry If this question has been asked before.

right, well thanks for the code.

now, what should I do to disable this? I mean, should I change it to a value that is unused to disable it?

Thanks for the help

which bit should I change of it though?

Rightio, so address 0x7F27 to 00 or EA.

I had an Idea about the spitting hammers...

I THINK (but I'm not sure) I saw hammers in sprite tweaker, but I cannot be certain. So if you changed it to not hurting Mario, and put mario as spitting it or whatever, it wouldn't hurt him. Only problem is getting it to hurt enemy sprites... Any ideas??

Does anybody have the address for the noise that mario when swimming.

I would like to disable the noise that he makes when you press the B button (to swim). This is to go alongside the disabled bubbles (I did disable the bubbles already), as I am going to have space levels and neither the noise nor bubbles are good for space.
.
So if anybody has the address, thanks in advance

Any last minute screenshots of levels in your editor VL? How about a nice screenie of Rainbow Ride? (One of the funnest levels on the game for me!!!)

6 DAYS TILL THE RELEASE ON THE 21ST!!!!!! YAY!!!!!

Note on the Gameshark codes: All very very good. I really like using micro mario to kick bowser's ass!

One prob. The Luigi ones look rubbish. Very good as colour changers, but luigi has green top and bluish dungarees. Not a really really dark green and black dungarees. Very good though, better than I can do. I just muck around with things and make Mario have an eye instead of a mouth - pretty wierd to look at, so I don't upload (IT'S UTTER CRAP )

thanks mate, will test it when I get home.

EDIT: Right, when I tried it, it did get rid of the sound, but what it also did was keep Mario in a single swimming graphic, before crashing the game.

What do I do now??

Any ideas?

Thanks for the help.

i've been waiting for so long for this, and although I want it so much, I would rather it be released in quality and with everything done properly, instead of having it rushed and ending up impossible to use. I would wait another year if I had to!

Keep working on it VL, and don't rush it! Take your time and do it well, not rushed and crap.

Good luck with the last stretch to the editor's first official release!

(Can't wait!)

Before I came to the board, I sent an e-mail to Fusoya asking for some help. He emailed back and said that he doesn't have time to come here. So, oh well.

I didn't know it was his B-day, but I have been using LM non stop for the last week, only off it when I have to be. I didn't notice anything different. Oh well.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY FUSOYA!

yeah, I cannot wait until the release, but I would wait another year if I had to! I just want it to be worth downloading, not something that seems like a four year old mucked around with a programming program. Not too hard to grasp is it?!

Well, If I undesrstand what you are asking correctly, you are asking if you can play as different things. I would say that there is a problem playing as bowser. If you use some of the Gameshark codes that were listed in this thread, you would realise that when you change Mario's size, he still acts like default mario. You can see this due to the shadow being so small, and that you have to be really close to enemies. This might apply to changing Mario into Bowser. Bowser is much bigger than Mario. On another point, Bowser doesn't use the same moves as Mario, such as Mario can duck and then do a backflip. Have you ever seen Bowser do this? No. So the game would crash as It cannot hiandle Bowser trying to do mario's move. Well, this is an exageration. It just wouldn't be good and may glitch. So in this you would have to code it yourself to disable moves or edit pointers to make it so that Bowser (instead of Mario) breathes fire instead of punching.

This would also apply to Koopas or anything. Mario is the central character, and so is the host of many moves that no other objects/enemies in the game can do.

THis is my understanding of it. In a nutshell. You can make Mario be Bowser, but it would require much coding to do it properly.

PS: Alex Rare is a stupid n00b who should jump off a bridge for trying to nick VL_Tone's (Master of the Universe) editor. Lol - This isn't flaming of course, this is just against a n00b
