Have you tried to find the pointers for the dialog "bubbles"?.......Back when I first started my Zelda II hack, i stumbled upon an offset that moved one of the bubbles edges (just by randomly changing bytes).....i wasn't that smart then, so I didn't record any of my findings onto paper.....

Since this is a ROM hacking forum, I thought maybe this would be a good idea.

Instead of one person making a list of every hacking tool there is, with semi-good explanations, let's just post the ones that we have and what we use it for!!
If the more experienced hackers post here, then it will be easier for the not-experienced hackers to see what they use and to get an idea of what hacking is really like.

Also, this might become a nice addition to the forum and a useful directory for people that are new!

Text Editing: When I started I used Thingy, but it really confused me. I now use Translhextion...

Hex Editing: FCEUXD

Tile Editing: I don't like changing graphics, but if I make an attempt at it, I use Tile Layer Pro.

sirhax0r,

You can download Hyrule Magic here if you haven't yet downloaded it...

This is where I got it.

You know, you can have the smell of rain anytime! All you have to do is get a hose.....turn it on.....and spray the street.

I did it once, but I would rather it rain.....that way I don't have to do all that work.....

The screenshots for Zelda 2 are a hack I'm working on...they aren't much.

The screenshot for Zelda 3 was for just getting used to Hyrule Magic...it isn't much either.

Zelda 2

Zelda 3

Well, I just wanted to show you all ! If you have any comments.....

I think Dwedit's editor works fine... It is buggy, but it's still great!

I will have a mac soon so I can't wait to see what your editor can REALLY do!!

hehe...

That's why I posted that screenshot. It was worth it too because you made me laugh......a lot.

This is going better than I thought!

To make Table Files:

I use Nesticle to find out the hex value for each letter.

I have no problem doing it this way, but I'm just wondering if there is another way...?

Edit: I know the "+" key is right, but i'm not sure about the other.....try it out to see.

Trax,

Have you found a way to relocate Palace 6 and Hidden Kasuto?

I'm still searching.

Speaking of... my friend Trey and I were almost struck by lightning one day when we were running in the rain. Knocked us on our asses.

The lighting didn't hit you and you were still knocked down?

I'm not making fun, I just didn't know lightning had that kind of.....force...

Scary, but cool.

It's been a few weeks since anything has happened to this, but I'm announcing an UPDATE! Version 1.9

Somebody reported a bug to me that occurs in Palace 1, 3, and 5. He only found it in Palace 1, but the room he found it in..... is used more than once....

Also, the French translation has been going slow, but it will be done soon.

I saw it yesterday in the dollar theatre...

I really liked it except for one thing.

The fight between Pryo and Iceman.

Lame......

They should've made the fight like Scorpion vs. Johnny Cage in Mortal Kombat.

Did anyone else not like the Pyro vs. Iceman fight?

That's weird. When I replaced the 6th palace with another type of terrain, it didn't even work!

I will continue to search for the area pointers for Palace 6 and New Kasuto...

The only spinning I've done in the rain was painful.

Sharp turns on cement with a bicycle... in the rain... isn't a good idea.
