Iron Chef invades baseball! The episode that's on now on the East Coast (3 AM for us) has a whole lot going for it.

* New Year's battle
* The head chef of Hei Chin Rou throws down to end the feud once and for all
* Guest judge and opening ceremony master Kazuhiro Sasaki.

Sasaki, who seemed to have no effing clue about food during the battle (or at least they didn't ask him anything food-related), had just finished leading the Yokohama Baystars to the pennant. You remember him for his time with the Mariners, when he was a pretty good closer. And he actually seems to have enough knowledge to be a league-average judge on the show.

Oh, the opening ceremony (which I've never seen on any other episode...) consisted of Sasaki chopping through a stack of daikon radish. He got through one of 'em and his knife got stuck on the bottom row.

Sometimes, wrestlers forget the rules. There was a match in WCW pitting Billy Kidman against Dean Malenko, where if you touched the mats around the ring, you lost. Malenko completely forgot that part, took a powder outside, and whoops, match over. There's also been people trying for pins in, say, first blood or Royal Rumble matches. Besides, sometimes, you do get to escape in cage matches. Faces tend to try to climb out, while heels go for the door.

(The following was chanted at the TV during Austin Aries/Alex Shelley/Roderick Strong vs. AJ Styles/Christopher Daniels/Chris Sabin.) THIS MATCH RULES! THIS MATCH RULES! THIS MATCH RULES!

Basically, one of the best trainwreck matches you'll see. A whole lot of really slick-looking double/triple-team attacks on both sides, non-stop offense, all sorts of creamy goodness. Yeah, if Ring of Honor wants me to go to their March whatever event in Woodbridge, book as many of these guys as humanly possible.

Oh, and the crowd shits all over Jarrett the MOMENT he comes out. Turns on the mic, and IMMEDIATELY showered by "BOOOOOORING" chants. Soon, I'm told we will hear "WRAP IT UP!", "WE WANT WRESTLING!" and "THIS IS LAME!". Geez, how can you get any more direct?

And nothing says badass like listening to Toby Keith.

EDIT: Seems they edited it enough to take out the REALLY bad chants. Oh, and James Storm in a chicken suit during your government-issue Pier 1 Imports 6 Brawl? Eight different kinds of awesome.

Nice to see they're still showing this on MTV2. For those who don't recognize it, you might know it better as Dirty Sanchez. Which, I'm sure you could imagine, wouldn't fly here.

So what is it? Imagine Jackass, only even more violent, Welsh, and edited only for coherent presentation (as in, they show bits of a lot of stuff with conversation from the members of Dirty Sanchez, as opposed to segments laid end-to-end). For instance, they've got one of 'em breaking a maraca over his head, they've pushed another member, shirtless, into a cactus, and now someone's beating the holy hell out of his thighs with a hammer. Did I mention the safety pins in the arm? About 15 of 'em, then another guy squirts lemon juice and dumps salt on them. OWOWOW. Basically, it goes farther than CKY, believe it or not.

Is the third series out on DVD yet? And regardless, is it worth it to get the DVD's? eBay has Region 1 ones (as in, from Canadialand) and they seem pretty decent, price-wise.

This is probably what New Order would sound like now if they, ya know, haven't already been around for about 25 years. The guitar at the beginning straddles the lines between indie rock, dance-punk, and electronic, while his voice sounds, well, probably a whole lot folkier than you'd expect. That's just in the timbre, though. He certainly sings it much more like dance-punk, which is what it is. Think more along the lines of Bloc Party, LCD Soundsystem, or VHS or Beta (probably the best comparison, really). Getting this out is much easier when your family's friends with the ex-drummer for Katrina and the Waves.

Oh, and LISTEN TO MORNINGWOOD.

Oh yeah, I did. But that's back when there was no hope in hell of it happening. And now it just might.

I don't know if it'll happen or even work, but Family Guy's shown a nice track record. So it might work, but it's a very slim chance. Still a chance, which is more than you have when you're cancelled.

Anyway, they do look to have the same Japanese text on the cover, so maybe one's a deluxe edition or something. Not a clue, as they aren't all that descriptive.
