Blech... just opened one up in Cool Edit 2000 and there's maybe 15 seconds of audio. Can I say that I'm dropping the Banvil (sm) on the whole album?

np: The Wonder Stuff: "Caught In My Shadow"

Nice, surprisingly poppy, uh, Britpop? From about 1991, it shows that the whole quiet verse/loud chorus formula is PLAYED. They've got a decent, laid-back chorus here, but the verses are more frantic, even though the music itself doesn't really change tempos. The vocals switch from half-time to normal time. Lyrically, it's really simple, seems to be about growing up and seeing things in a completely different perspective: "These streets used to look big/this town used to look like a city/these people used to talk to me." Methinks the whole part about being caught in his shadow's about trying to break free from everyone else's past expectations and impressions of him, even though he's in the same place.

(For anyone that read the Hardware forum, this album's what I was referring to: Never Loved Elvis. Thankfully, this song was a pretty big hit for them, so it was on a singles collection I found later.)

For those who love them some Iron Sheik, let's just say Emptyeye only got as far as suplexing me. Expect a screencap from Danielle shortly. I ALREADY DID

Yes, this is powar abuse.

Reeeeeeeeally. Well, THIS! Is commentary on the match!

* I throw down with SINUS.
* Emptyeye IMMEDIATELY bingoes me with ASPIRINS.
* Oh, fuuuuudge. Uhm... I reply with GLIMMERS, getting a bingo of my own.
* He eventually takes over... ahunno when. But any shot I had of catching up was over when after he played EBB, I used BIND. (Dramatic irony, as I was in one.) He hits the triple word for EDGE (fuuuuck), then I have to go with ROD as we're out of excess letters. He drops DOOMED on me (triple word score AND triple dramatic irony!) and I am, well, what he said.

Advice? Know your two-letter words. It lets you drag the game on when the observer's begging you to just pass so she can go to bed.

Also, in the name of fresh posting and general moving of things along, any chance anyone else could update the bracket while YD's on the DL? :/ Just to take something off her plate for the time being.

WRONG

Don't all their songs end with exclamation points? FAILURE.

They're... well, haven't heard enough of 'em. But for what it's worth, Travis Barker came from them. While on tour with Blink 182, the latter's drummer quits, he's asked to fill in, and before you know it, he HAS Boost Mobile.

Because this has nothing to do with hacking. Setz, mind moving this thread to, say, General Emulation? I would, but the POWAH I have not.

And now, a visual demonstration of what this thread just did when evildevil posted their entire collection instead of what they just bought recently.

Or, STOP DOING THAT.

145? Daaaaaaaaaaaamn. I usually just skip before the song ends, so I have no idea how many times I've listened to ANYTHING.

np: Editors: "Munich"

Hey kids! Do you love Interpol? Then you'll LOVE Editors! They're basically the British Interpol... who are themselves Americans trying to be Joy Division, a British band... too... much... meta... (blacks out) Anyway, this song's a lot more conventionally poppy, but still very heavy on the Joy Division school of post-punk. Not really breaking any new ground, but no one said they had to.

Bumping for great justice fishcakes.

I've never really been in great shape... even when I played soccer, I was the big tubby kid. At least I had some stamina, though. But as part of the whole losing-weight thing, I'm planning on taking up running, so that'll kill two birds with one bush.

It's been a whole seven days since your post and the announcement hasn't been made. I'm sure it'll take a while, as they're gonna want to take their sweet time, and I'd be surprised if the suspension wasn't really long.

Apology accepted, but next time, bring cookies.

Today's purchases:
* Bill Hicks: "Salvation Oxford"
* Black Strobe: "The Other Side Paris"
* David Bowie: "Heathen" (2002 reissue w/bonus disc)
* Fiery Furnaces: "Gallowsbirds Bark"
* Rainer Maria: "Catastrophe Keeps Us Together" (!!!)
* "Saddle Creek 50"
* "Take Action! Vol. 3"

Amazingly, only about $45 for the whole thing. Bill Hicks, David Bowie, and the Saddle Creek 50 collection are double-discs, so they shouldn't have been included in the 3 used CD's for $20 this store does. Oopsie.

(If it means anything to anybody, Black Strobe is Ivan Smagghe and Arnaud Rebotini. They're much more known for their remixes, but the only reason I've heard of Smagghe is he did an installment of the Suck My Deck series, which wins for Mix CD Series Names. This one's part of a series done with Time Out, spotlighting various places in biggly huge cities. They did New York with Fischerspooner, which was... uh, kinda interesting. That one's how I found out I love me some Fiery Furnaces, soooo... yeah. They're DualDiscs, too, so there's video of them going to different places they recommend. Not bad for tourists who hate tourists. )
