So before my game today, I swing my the Goodwill in Westport, because they're nice like that. Rich people donate the coolest shit. So anyway, I'm looking for games, when I stumble on an iMac for surprisingly cheap (I'd seen one in Stamford for $125, this one was less). Tangerine or whatever color that is, first run (as in, not a slot-loading CD drive, but a tray). Fire it up, it works, thankyouverymuch.

So after the game, I come home and set up the iMac. Aw bugger, it's just OS 8.5. So no OS X for me, as I don't think this can support it. But let's see what's on here. Huh, Office 98, so I can use this for, ya know, useful things. Previous owners used Earthlink, but I won't need that, just need to figure out how to use it with DSL. Something about leases, okay... what's this file called "LETTER OF INSTRUCTION"? Wow, it has Quark, guess I could lay out a paper on this bad bo--WHAT THE FUCK?!

(That was about when the file opened. Here's what I saw.)



So there's that. Further down, there's details on safe deposit boxes, a mortgage in Bridgeport, and other financial info. As you could see, the letter dates back to January 1, 2004. There's other files from last summer involving renting out a house and establishing a CD in someone's name. Email inbox is all spam, latest from September 10th, but this person (I have a name, I don't know what I'll do with it) was using it then.

This really feels like the set-up for some bad movie or novel.

So yeah, I'm starting up a fantasy league on Yahoo. 6x6 (R, HR, RBI, SB, OBP, SLG for batters, W, SV, K, ERA, WHIP, K/BB for pitchers) scoring, 12 teams, draft's March 22 at 7 PM. I can change that, I think, if it'd work better for all y'all.

Finally, a band getting attention that's right in this board's wheelhouse. Another project of the members of Hella, doing ye olden NES soundtracks. Not new to all y'all, but they're actually getting reviewed by sort-of mainstream media, like Pitchfork and that other local weekly paper.

Do they bring it? Yes, they do. Just listen to the track they have up on their site from the new album (Elf Titled), their medley of the boss theme from Castlevania 3, the village theme from Willow, and Bubble Man's music (ya know, Mega Man 2...). Their Wizards & Warriors medley (at least the sample on their Allmusic.com page sounds surprisingly like what you'd expect from their proper band, not an NES soundtrack cover band.

Cut-rate generic advice: Do you know where the game stores Link's palette in RAM? If so, set up a write breakpoint on that register, then when you cast a spell, see if you can find the code that changes it to green. Search for that string in the ROM, and hopefully, you'll do it.

Nope. Did you do Plus? I almost started a Plus league before I saw the prizes section and realized what I was doing. They kind of try to bury it, but go with the free one here.
