Can I slaughter the kids who, in high school, would be singing "Seasons of Love" non-stop after school? (Well, my homeroom was the chorus room for three years running and THEY WOULDN'T STOP.)

Because of that, I can't say I'm looking forward to the movie. Even if "Everyone Has AIDS" just DESTROYS.

DS_MaSTeR: No it isn't.

np: Faith No More: "Be Aggressive"

Has anything this batshit insane ever been released on a major label? Methinks the answer is a decided and emphatic no. (Keep in mind Angel Dust came out in 1992, people.) The lyrics sort of paint a picture of someone getting made to be subservient and kind of accepting his fate; the last pre-chorus goes "Malnutrition/My submission/You're the master and I'll take it on my knees/Ejaculation/Tribulation/I swallow, I swallow, I swallow, I swallow". Oh, and the chorus is a bunch of cheerleaders chanting "Be aggressive/B-E aggressive/B-E A-G-G-R-E-S-S-I-V-E". At the end? "Go! Fight! Go! Fight! Go! Fight! Go! Fight! Win!"

Uh... yeah. Basically, the cheerleaders have nothing to do with anything. And Mike Patton and his bandmates wouldn't have it any other way. Faith No More really peaked with this album. Listening to this, you'd never think they had a big hit, and yet, they did... off the previous album.

Some of y'all might've heard of a few moves.

* Boston gets Josh Beckett, Mike Lowell, and Guillermo Mota from Florida for prospects Hanley Ramirez, Anibal Sanchez, Harvey Garcia, and Jesus Delgado.

* Mets get Carlos Delgado and cash money from Florida for Mike Jacobs, Yusmeiro Petit, and some other prospect.

* Phillies send Jim Thome and buckets of money to the White Sox for Aaron Rowand, a minor leaguer, and a player to be named later (rumored to be highly-regarded prospect Gio Gonzalez).

Your analysis:

* Florida reloads with good prospects, although Hanley's overrated (he's all tools). Buuuut...
* The Red Sox made out like bandits here. Beckett looks to have turned the corner on his blister issues. Mota's a live arm, possibly for set-up or closing (should Foulke suck) duty, and Lowell has no expectations. He's a high-quality defensive player and athletic enough that last season could prove to be just a fluke and not falling off a cliff.
* The Mets can afford to overpay for offense, and Delgado brings just that. He might have signed with them last year as a free agent, but word is he was offended by negotiators using "street Spanish" when he's an urbane and well-educated fellow. Regardless, 1B was an area of supersuck for them last season, and Delgado does a lot more than just not suck.
* Phillies get a good defensive CF and, more importantly, unload Thome's gigundo contract, also making room for Ryan Howard to play full-time.
* White Sox make the move they needed, mercifully replacing Carl Everett/whoever else at DH with Thome. That's assuming they re-sign Konerko, which they very well could. If not, Thome plays 1B, no biggie. It might mean no more Frank Thomas, but he's broken down at this point and could call it a very good, possibly Hall of Fame? career.

mynameisbob and Kario: Take it elsewhere post-haste. No, I don't care you already DID. I'm guessing you speak of mashups, which are old news.

Everyone else: One-sentence posts ARE NOT CUTTING IT. Ones who fail to adhere to International Academy of Message Board Arts and Sciences standards will cause minor interruptions in thread service. The minimum expectations can be found in the thread title.

np: Journey: "Don't Stop Believin'"

Fuck you, they were more than Steve Perry's hair and the video for "Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)". So deliciously 80's, but there's some decent songs. This one builds up in grand ballad fashion (as that's what Journey does), solo (there's really not much of a chorus) and hits one goddamned effective climax at the end. Oh, you know it. "Don't stop believin'/Hold on to the feelin'/Street light people" If you can get past the presence of piano and synth (mercifully, Neal Schon's guitar is more prominent come the second verse) it's quite good.

Oh, and also: SteeeeeeeeeeeeeevePERRY!

You could of posted this in the baseball thread.

...and THAT'S why you're banned.

Ah yes, Grant Psomas. Because we all know about the woes the Mets have at 3B.

5/$47 for B.J. Ryan proves that J.P. Riccardi doesn't have any sense of a budget. But then again, you kind of need to not have one in the AL East. Speaking of which, sounds like Burnett might go to Baltimore. Supposedly, wifey wants him to sign there.

Yankees were supposedly looking at Rowand to replace Bernie, but now the big name bandied about is Brian Giles. And you thought Bernie Williams in center was an adventure.

Since two threads on baseball are entirely too much for our dear friend who started this one to handle, offseason talk goes in the hot stove thread, yes? We'll see an official one whence spring training commences. Or we'll rename that one. A bridge to cross when we get there.

I've got a Compaq iPaq 3630 and Netgear MA701 wireless card, running Windows CE 2000. Well, the card's installed right and I'm connected, but for some reason, Internet Explorer doesn't want to use that connection. Only options are a modem (which I don't have on here) and IrDA. What do I have to do to get this to use the wireless connection for, say, IE?

Clockworkz: Yes. Yes, you should. I recommend "I'm the Man", "Look Sharp!", and "Night and Day".

np: Manic Street Preachers: "Found That Soul"

Aww, how cute, they're trying to recapture that good ol' Richey magic. Doesn't really work on that level, but it's a nice government-issue Return To the Rawk. Sound-wise, it's much less insular than their Holy Bible-era peak, which is good because they're just not that kind of band at this point. Thankfully, they embrace who they are again on their newest album, which is import-only here. Bastids.

Not when there's photographic evidence Dennis Stamp has, in fact, been booked.

Hey, at least I know of ONE person who'll get this... (glares at Colin) You saw Beyond the Mat, riiiiiight?

Sounds like the general consensus regarding the angle, in a futile attempt to bring this thread back somewhere in the same area code as on-topic, is most people didn't like it. But if it's something Eddie would've liked, then I guess it's okay. ONLY if that's the case.

CONFERENCE CALL! Newsbits:

* Linda McMahon said that they have plans to make up the money they're not getting in advertising revenue on USA through the Web, mostly by advertising and selling sponsorships to the online shows.
* WWE Films trying to secure theatrical release dates for The Marine (John Cena's film) and See No Evil (Kane's), and will start filming The Condemned (Austin's) in 2006.
* No one mentioned Eddie Guerrero.

Also, the world's most logical tie-in happened, with White Sox catcher AJ Pierzynski showing up on ¡mpact! with White Sox strength/conditioning coach Dale Torborg (who portrayed the KISS character that dare not speak its name in WCW). I quote, from the Chicago Tribune:

A.J. Pierzynski has agreed to "manage" three pro wrestlers in a pay-per-view match Dec. 11 in Orlando. Pierzynski appeared Tuesday at a taping for TNA Wrestling and presented White Sox- signed World Series memorabilia to A.J. Styles, Chris Sabin and Sonjay Dutt. Simon Diamond and his entourage interrupted the proceedings.

Those five minutes of wrestling fame will air during a live primetime special at 8 p.m. on Dec. 8 on Spike-TV. He will "manage" Sabin, Dutt and Sox strength and conditioning coach Dale Torborg, son of ex-Sox manager Jeff Torborg, against Diamond, David Young and Elix Skipper.

"Being on Oprah (after the Series) was about as good as it gets, but this is right up there," Pierzynski said.
