MEL: Something tells me that stopping by the store will be a good idea. Chances are they'll stock Uncurses, which for some unknown reason can only be used by PCs and certain NPC's.

SMITHY: Aeris dies.

MEL: Spike dies!

SMITHY: Rosebud's the sled!

Mel held the semi-assembled Q-Parts in both hands, staring at the stone pieces as they pulsed quietly.

He looked around. The room was filled with clones of Snipes, and yet not a single one had moved -- they were all in Offline Trances. He shook his head, and broke into a brisk run. Showing his palm to the same wall the JDavis Robo had phased throw, he shot a hole clean through it with a sharp green beam. Leaping out into the sky, he spun around twice before the twin boosters in his boots ignited, propelling him up into the open ES-Window moments before it finally subsided.

MEL: This is absolutely tremendous! I wish I had a soda so I could spit it out in a fit of laughter.

Smithy hands an opened bottle of cola to Mel, who takes a swig, and then suddenly spits it out all over Kirby.

MEL: Pfbbbbbbbbbbt! Ha ha ha ha haaaaa!

In the infinite nothingness of subspace, there was a click, followed by the shuffling of fabric and material, accompanied by an expanding noise, something similar to a mattress inflating.

Mel plucked a cylindrical helmet with a clear visor out of his pocket -- undoubtedly leading to a self-contained pocket of Hammerspace -- and dropped it over his head backwards, twisting it and sealing it tight as the clear visor turned to allow him a field of vision.

MEL: Mere parlor tricks.

Mel's glasses began to glow a bright green, as he held out a long, bronze-colored rifle, with two finned rings along the barrel that were already beginning to spin.

Pulling the trigger in all the way, the Castor Rifle's hammer dropped onto the firing pin of a Number Two shell, unleashing a sealed well of magic energy that hurtled towards the JDavis Robo in an uncontrolled red beam.

On cue, the green glow in Mel's glasses faded -- and moments later, they re-illuminated, now a bright blue as he tugged on a lever to the side of the Castor Rifle in his hand. He removed a smoking, empty red shell and dropped a new one into the waiting catch, then pushed the end shut.

In his field of vision, everything was blue... save for flickering white lines, that denoted the presence of the minute electromagnetic fields generated by electricity flowing through the speaker wires.

MEL: Whether or not you make it easy for me, the fact of the matter is, I will leave this pocket of subspace with the Pas-Q Machine, and you will not.

Firing his rifle again, Mel swiveled around as a second massive orange beam poured from the barrel, arcing it and overtaking several of the scattered speakers in the flow of energy.

Both blue beams collided with a solid green barrier that flashed in and out of existence in a brief second -- in an effect similar to that of a Pinpoint Barrier.

Mel quickly plowed through the barrier, his foot-boosters flaring, that same "rock out" gesture on his left hand as he pointed it at the source of the twin beams, immediately lighting up the area with a bright green beam of energy as a green, glowing G shone on his forehead.

Mel reluctantly drops four of the tasty snacks from in between his fingers into Kirby's cupped hands. He stares at the last remaning fruit pie longingly, then immediately runs off and hides behind a tree, whereup he squats down, rips off the wrapper, and devours the snack, nibbling at it hurriedly like some kind of woodland creature.

It was several minutes later that the door Josh and Minako had passed through slid open again, and a pair of hands pushed the visibly shaken Umino Melvin, still wearing his A-shirt and a pair of loaned dress slacks. His drawing pad was underarm, and he adjusted his rectangular glasses before offering a wave and a weak smile to the occupants of the room.

MEL: Ohayo.

GM MEL: Unfortunately, when stories bog down, a GM must use desperate measures. Sorry, JD, I'm going to go ZA WARUDO on you.

---

The JDavis Robo's wrist twitched, as the glop oozed out as an increasingly slowing rate.. and then stopped. As a matter of fact, everything stopped, save Mel, as the color bled away from everything included in the entire pocket of reality, except for him. And as the color slowly returned after a flash of black-and-whiteness, he swiveled around to face the motionless JDavis Robo.

Pulling his fist back, the shimmering G on his forehead began to glow brighter, as a humming sound emanated from him..

MEL: Hissatsu! Reppu..

He then swung his fist forward, twisting his hips, as the fist came into contact with the JDavis Robo's outer shell, and punched a hole directly through it. Whatever had happened to Mel over the period of the last six months, he was absolutely something out of this world, now.

MEL: Seikenzuki!

As the JDavis Robo was still his size, within the first few inches of penetrating the robot's armor, he had already broken through several layers of compacted electronic systems. In an instant, the robot returned to it's original size. Nevertheless, the shockwave from the blow continued onward until it ripped a hole into the robot's cockpit, allowing Mel to less-than-effortlessly float in, and reach a hand into JDavis' pocket. Withdrawing the final Q-Part, he stepped lightly to the edge of the opening, and looked to the man behind him, who still sat frozen in time.. but who was slowly beginning to move, as the effects of whatever Mel had done slowly began to wear off.

MEL: It's a shame you hadn't made things easier on yourself.

A tiny green spark flickered outside of Building C, somewhere around the fortieth-floor level -- and the two flickered back into regular existence in an instant. Mel leaped off of the robot, his aura flying up as he flew back into the air, landing on a corner of the Building C roof, as an explosion just beneath him littered the sky with the broken glass of many of the building's windows.

---

SCHNEIDER.EXE: Why would I want to keep him on a "tight leash?" Every time he goes on some kick like this, after all, it brings this teetering civilization one step closer to the brink. And that's precisely when robots like us will take over.

Schneider.EXE openly pointed both the spinning rings on his wrists at Megaman.EXE.

SCHNEIDER.EXE: But for now, I think I'm content with carrying out his will. Tornado Buster!

A pair of green cyclones poured forth from the spinning green rings, hurtling directly towards Megaman.EXE.

Mel looked down to the little girl and smiled somewhat, reaching down to pat her on the head.

MEL: <Aah, I am. It's good to see a friendly face in such an unfamiliar, unforgiving place. What piece of mine is your favorite?>

Buster Robo had only been his breakthrough hit - He had also worked as a stock animator and had created a Magical Girl manga, which had received a lukewarm reaction from general fandom.

Mel adjusted his glasses, squinting every now and then to get a glimpse at the fine print, as he flipped through the non-disclosure agreement. He had been swindled in agreements before - he had made the mistake of not reading between the lines when he signed the contracts to first publish his magical girl manga. This situation gave him even more reason to be doubly careful.

But more or less, the agreement just read the same thing, over and over: What happens in the room, stays in the room. Nobody else is to know, in any form whatsoever, or what comes next will seem like all of heaven and earth are out to get you.

MEL: <Well.>

His eyes flickered momentarily to the door.

MEL: <It would be a shame for you to have uprooted my from my friends, family, and home, and dragged me halfway across the world, for nothing. Besides, now you've got me curious, too.>

A scribble of a pen later..

MEL: <Signed.>

All eyes were on Mel, as he stood atop Building C, the nearly-assembled structure of Q-Parts under his right arm, and the remaining Q-Part in his left. He held the structure over his head, and with a resounding, earth-shattering click, placed the last unit into position. The entire device glowed a bright blue, vibrating and pulsing with energy..

And.. that was about it. Mel placed the completed.. whatever it was back under his arm, and simply hopped off the building, steadily traveling down towards ground level, just as a pack of missiles sailed by him and exploded against the corner of the building.

At ground level, the Melvin Robo, now with a gaping hole that revealed the glowing green Getter Reactor inside in it's stomach still stood, albeit somewhat in a gimped stance. The twin missile compartments on the super robot's lower back closed up, underneath the stiff metal piece made to somewhat resemble a lab coat.

Mel stood perfectly staunch, looking as if he were on an elevator as he sailed down past story after story. The three Get-Machines composing the Melvin Robo G were not long behind him, arcing over the building and flying down after him. In a red blur, he was inside the red Get-Machine's cockpit, and in a second flash of motion, the three machines collided together, transforming into the Melvin Robo G, and hovering at a standstill in mid-air, looking down to it's predecessor on the ground.

MEL: Didn't I tell you.. not to get in my way again?

The Melvin Robo took half a step back - then stopped, and took a step forward.

SMITHY: Oh, fuck you. You're just acting like a dick to /everyone/ today.

The Melvin Robo G's glasses began to glow a bright purple - and then immediately turned to the right and looked up, just in time for an absolutely mammoth pair of purple beams to crash into it and slam it into Building C, then cease to allow it to fall to the ground.

MEL?: Melvin Beeeeeam!

SMITHY: Oh?

--

BOOSTER: Oh.

--

IRIS: Oh!

--

Heroic music, set on! With a dramatic bolt of lightning, in the sky hovered.. a second Melvin Robo G. In contrast to the one that had just kicked everyone's ass a few minutes ago, this robot was shoddy by comparison. It looked like it had been scrapped and rebuilt repeatedly. The non-functioning Getter Reactor in it's stomach was quite visible, and attached to the chest area was was appeared to be a hastily cobbled-together GS-Ride, of which small beams of green light were leaking out; a testament to just how cobbled together it was.

MEL: You.

MEL?: Me!

The Melvin Robo G on the ground clambered to its feet even as it's metal plating still smoked, flexing it's arms, as it's lenses began to glow purple again - and without a moment's hesitation, a second pair of purple beams showered from the skyborne Melvin Robo G's glasses, impacting the super robot directly through the face - the upper third of which exploded impressively, and toppled backwards in a thud, as the second Melvin Robo G dropped to the ground, moments before collapsing onto one knee.

There was a direct parallel between the two men, as two nigh-inoperable robots sat across from each other on different sides of the reflecting pool in front of the three M-Tek buildings. From the Melvin Robo G missing it's top third, the belt buckle opened, and out crawled a ruffled and singed Mel with the assembled Q-Parts underarm; from it's twin, a visibly beaten Melvin Robo G with some new makeshift reactor cobbled together in it's chest, the mouth lowered, and out stepped a visually identical man, with a prouder and more refined stance to him.

Mel dropped to the ground, and his clone stood up, the two pacing towards each other and standing facing one another at the edges of the M-Tek reflecting pool.

MEL: You're not leaving here with the Pas-Q Machine.

The clone's face twisted into that of impeccable rage, as his hand shot up and his fingers flexed. The Pas-Q Machine glowed a bright shade of blue, emitting a humming noise, as a steam of green energy poured forth from his hand gesture.

Without hesitation, Mel's hands dug into his tattered coat, and withdrew his Castor Rifle, it's burnished copper finish twinkling in the sun. It was evidently pre-loaded - he pointed it into the oncoming strike, and pulled the trigged, meeting his clone's green beam with a swirling, red-and-orange vortex of his own.

The two were locked in a classic Dragon Ball Z energy beam fight. And within moments, the tides were turning to Mel's clone, the veins in his neck and arms throbbing as the hum emitted by the Pas-Q Machine under his arm grew even louder.

It was with great irony that he was suddenly struck by a single, purple beam, fired from the Melvin Robo's lone, unbroken glasses lens. The replicant's figure was shadowed in the purple light, his silhouette's limbs thinning, then twisting and snapping in directions they weren't meant to go. After choking out a strangled cry, the figure turned into simple black lines, fading out in the beam.

As it faded away, the smoking Pas-Q Machine, virtually unharmed, dropped to the ground and clattered like a manhole cover.

MEL: Much appreciated, Smithy.

The red reploid gave a thumbs up inside the Melvin Robo's cockpit, his voice blaring over the loudspeaker.

SMITHY: Hey. We're just glad to have the real Mel back!

Oni found himself cut off from Kirby, suddenly knocked back by the force of a grazing blow. A thin white beam a few inches in diameter, with a second, smaller blue beam spiraling around it, flashed by his face in an instant, it's speed displacing a sudden gust of air into him.

A short distance away, Mel stood by the town square. A smoking Gauss Machine Gun was in his right hand, a tankard of brew in his left. Behind him, Smithy stood by a table labeled "Free Beer," waterfalling an entire pitcher. Mel squinted his eyes at Vivian, Kirby, and Oni, his gun wobbling slightly. His thumb flicked over the fire setting, and he immediately opened up, a flurry of white-and-blue beams passing by dangerously close to the three, one-by-one in rapid succession.

MEL: *hic* I... dude. I totally cannot see what the fuck I'm shooting at, haha.

SMITHY: Haha! Niice.

Mel stumbled witlessly after the group. Smithy immediately put a hand on his shoulder, and turned him around - setting him traveling towards Twilight Town's exit, rather than away from.

MEL: What are we doing again?

SMITHY: We're chasing after.. Uh.

MEL: ?

SMITHY: Actually, I have no idea who we're chasing after.

Unbeknownst to Oni, neither Mel nor Smithy could see him. Mel had actually seen Vivian with her katana, mistaken her for one of her sisters through his drunken vision, and immediately opened fire, assuming she and Kirby were fighting.
