But note that this is just a big assumption and might totally be false.

As for Gamecube... HCS (author of 64th Note .. bringer of USF) brought this up on ZMD a while back: Click here. I haven't tried it out, myself... and the description in that thread is rather confusing.
I've tried v0.11 and the SSBM music works perfectly.

The actual animated tiles are down the very bottom of AllGFX.bin. The one up the top is the sprite used by the flying blocks and when you hit them.

I can't remember that floor, but from the sounds of it, here's a hint:

You can "ride" on thwomps and use them as a lift by spinjumping on them.

Forcing people to use headered ROMs lessens the possibility of lots of different hacks requiring either a header or no header, which would make patching a big mess.

Yeah, it's just a signature but you can't really read it due to the resolution.

The font looks terrible, and the white lines on the treetrunks look odd, but apart from that it looks fairly nice.

A decent start, at least. The levels and especially the overworld are dissapointly plain-looking though. Maybe make the overworld resemble the ones from SMBDX.

This thread's missing a few chromosomes.

EDIT: Fuck, I meant "has a few extra cromosomes". Guess I have a few too

Those Mario sprites are all in the SMAS rom, equally unused. I'm guessing an overdump off a multicart or something.

And only in the English version, so it was probably added by NOA during localisation.

It's probably leftover data from a beta cartridge that was previously used. In Sonic The Hedgehog there are leftovers from a completely unrelated game called Chiki Chiki Boys.
Unless Ninja Warriors Again was Nintendo in-house, I highly doubt they'd give out their internal ROM cartridges without wiping them clean. With fire.

Drew the character in flash, then shrunk it and sprited over it. Will post the Flash image once I'm happy with it.

I kinda messed up a hand, but this sprite version's OK for now.

Posted on 04-11-06 12:12 PM, in Cruelty to keys: Bizarre key behavior in SMB2... but why? Link
Kinda strange that there are still some bugs in the Mario games that aren't mentioned on any websites. Shmorky mentioned this on the SA forums:
That reminds me, here's a trick (for Super Mario 2) I tell people about that I NEVER see posted ANYWHERE! Go into a world with a phanto key and mushroom blocks (like 1-3.) Put the key down and keep putting mushroom blocks on top of it. It will bounce up a bit. Keep doing this until you hear the key cry out in pain (like the Birdo dying sound.) The key will flash. Hit with the blocks again and again. The more times you hit it, the longer Phanto stays away. Why? WHY? I don't KNOW.

Here's a animated gif someone made of it:

So anyway, I was wondering if someone with experience with how SMB2 works (BMF?) knew why this happened. Does the key use Birdo code or something? Or is it just a really obscure easter egg?

I don't think Shmorky uses emulators. I haven't tried it on an actual console, but I can't see why it wouldn't work.

Now you can import Doom levels into the GBA game! Be careful, though: The GBA can't even handle some of the original Doom levels (hello e3m8)
