No matter how good you may be, your talent is wasted and your stuff is worthless if you don't finish anything. And if you discontinue (or even simply keep on hold) your projects because of trivial forum arguments, either you're way too sensitive and care too much, or you weren't all that motivated in the first place... Whatever.
On the bright side, your ninja idea sounds great... Except hacking SMW all the time must be boring... At least it's quite boring to play most SMW hacks.

The thing is, you have to distinguish between newbie hacks and n00b hacks.

Even more importantly, you have to distinguish between newbies and n00bs. I think that there was a lot of idiocy here. But I also think that the environment was not particularly suitable for breeding intelligence. If someone comes up and posts their first hack, and its the worst hack you've ever seen....so what? Its their first hack. Help them. I dont care what you say, there are always suggestions to be offered, no matter how bad the hack is. To say that it is impossible to suggest a problem to solve because there are too many problems has got to be one of the dumbest things I have ever heard. This is an environment that promotes intelligence. If the newbie does not take the help to heart and shows no interest in improving their methods, then they are not a newbie. They are, in fact, a n00b. Particularly if theyre dicks about it. This is when action is to be taken, against the N00B. Their hack sucks. Thats cool if youre here to learn. If youre just here to post shitty hacks, then we dont wantcha. Shape up or ship out.

If you just kick people who really are just plain new and dont know any better instead of trying to help them, they cant learn. Obviously, that doesnt promote learning. In fact it discourages it. Learning is the root of intelligence, people. If you kick out all the newbies who are willing to learn without giving them a chance to do so, you will find an extremely low influx of new talent. Your old talent will get stale, and at that point it is only a matter of time before the whole thing dies. Its like if we banned children because they cant do math, and we dont want to bother teaching them. The human race would inevitably die out. It might take a hundred years, but it WOULD happen.

Thats the community. The mods have to do even MORE to help. Go through the archives now and again. Say once a month. Or maybe a page a week, starting from the oldest, and starting over when you get to the newest. Weed out the dead worthless threads, while keeping the good stuff. Good stuff INCLUDES bad hacks where good critisism is provided, so that the newbies might learn from them. Unless, of course, the exact same info is given in another thread. This results in a clean forum we can all enjoy. Send out some PMs to people who are getting out of hand, or who just arent listening. Insist on a reply of comprehension and complience. Hand out bans to dicks and people who just dont want to learn. Yeah, its a lot of work. Being a mod is. If you dont want to put in the work, step down and let someone who IS take over. Those last lines arent directed at anybody in particular, Im just saying being a mod is difficult. Not everyone can handle the load, and some who used to may have a new real life situation that does not allow enough time for managing such a populated board. Life happens.

So, please. Control your rage, mighty mods. Temper your swords so that they might best serve the people charged to your care. Let us exercise some constructive discrimination when passing your holy justice. Remember, power without wisdom is chaos.
