Great stuff man, i love it.

As for funguy, i propose that he just sucks and needs to go get some skill rather than insult other peoples hard work. Use a code you talentless loser.

Posted on 09-28-06 05:29 AM, in So About That Super Mario RPG Level Editor... Link
Well, i should probably answer this considering that im the one writing the editor.

Ive written a bunch of base code for it, but as far as functionality, its not functional at all at the moment. All the gui's and research are done, so its up to me to put it all together.

Ive been really busy with work all summer (new job), and now that schools back, im still working the same job part time and attending school full time. As you can see my spare time is limited, and even that is split between many facets of my life. What time i do have for hacking is also split between Dark Prophecy, SMRPG editor, and a couple secret projects, so i wouldnt expect it anytime soon. What ill probably do is code it all in a week or 2 when ive got a lot of free time (Maybe xmas time... who knows).

I know its tough, but i ask you guys to be patient with me.

If there is someone out there who has (readable) source code for an editor, it would probably speed up development a lot if i could see it so i dont have to re-invent the wheel.

While i think that this whole approval request thing is a bad idea and will only prove to further impeed the rom hacking community, i guess i really dont have a choice but to request it.

Things im working on:

The Legend of Zelda: Dark Prophecy
Super Mario RPG editor
Secret projects

Completed hack: The Legend of Zelda: Omega

I need to update certain things as well as submit a couple tools ive written. Including a corrupter, and a arbitraty byte pattern search tool.

This is an extremely annoying problem. I would suggest that you email me the ROM and let me fix it for you.

If your not comfortable with that, then Orochimaru is right, you need to remove all the doors and staircases under the "More" button in rooms your dont need, and save. Then try adding them to other rooms.

Nice work! Ive supported you guys from the beginning, and im very happy to see a completed piece of work of such quality.

Congratulations and thank you. I personally know how much time goes into a Zelda 3 hack, so i for one really do appreciate it.

Posted on 01-16-07 11:43 AM, in FFTA hacking, but I've never hacked before! Link
Ok, im going to give you some valuable advice here. Hacking isnt easy. It takes time, patience, determination, and skill. If your serious about hacking FFTA its most defintely going to take all of these.

The way to start is to decide exactly what you want to change about the game. Changing the story and stats probably wont be that hard, but if you want to make drastic changes like adding levels thats different.

You need to begin by compiling a lot of information about the game like offsets, structures, ect.

This includes stuff like Stats of all kinds which are probably grouped together. You can probably find those just by writing down stats for stuff like armor and weapons in game and just searching for those values with a hex editor. To see if youve found it, just change it slightly and then check it ingame again.

For text you can probably do the same thing unless they somehow encode it, which i doubt.

What your going to find hard is changing levels. If you understand assembly, you can probably figure it out with a debugger of some kind. Another option is using a corrupter to find the data and fool around with it until you figure out the structure of it, but this takes a lot of time and luck.

My personal recommendation is to start with something easier, because whats going to happen is your going to feel totally overwhelmed and just give up. Its happened to me before.

Good luck.
