Seriously, Capcom is making a big deal over nothing here. So what if all the features were unlocked? They brought it upon themselves. At any rate, this is going to end with failure for Capcom. Look at what happened with Nintendo and Game Genie. Nintendo was angry at Game Genie for allowing players to cheat in games, but they lost the case. A similar thing happened with Pokemon, only that time, Nintendo attempted to stop the codes. They partially succeeded, but in the end, everything was able to be gotten around. No big deal.

More similarly, Nintendo balked about SMA4, but eventually stopped caring. They had partial success in getting rid of some of the special saves, but just couldn't handle it all. But like Chev said, that case involved money, and this one does not.

I mean, Rockstar isn't complaining about the ability to use GTA:LCS to run downloaded and homebrew software on the PSP, which is much worse than this petty little thing. Capcom is just going ape-shit because their source of mass promotion (the downloads) has been terminated. If anything, their complaining is going to encourage the spread of the file.

It already does that.

How about an effect powerup that causes Mario or Luigi to spin really quickly? This could give the Star Feather and Leaf into a hurricane effect like the cape in SMW, and optionally, could help Mario defeat enemies quicker when he jumps on them. Only lasts one level, and if you get hit, you lose it.

Or maybe one that causes Fireballs and Boomerangs to lock onto a target, but that could be asking for too much or have too generalized powerups (too many fire based ones)

Yes to the first one. It was an ongoing project by a website that escapes me at the moment, but I believe it has since fallen apart, thus, ending progress. Nobody has hacked Super Mario 64 extensively yet.

I just spent the last hour continuing work on my SMW Hack. I'm starting to get a little tired of making the current world (World 3, a circus world), however. Maybe I crossed the line between good idea and absurd with the level I'm making right now. You run around in a huge funhouse, trying to solve a big puzzle, featuring a giant mirror you can walk into to enter a mirrored version of the level. You have to figure out ways to use the mirror version to your advantage. For example, one room has a lot of vampire bats in it (swooper death bats) in the normal level, but in the mirrored level, they aren't there. Another room has a bunch of photocell operated doors that are effectively closed in the mirror level.

I think it's because we shot the middle asteroid in several spinning lines of them just as we were about to fly in them. Then, a laughing asteroid appeared and tried to ram us; we shot it and the black hole appeared. We flew in, and the rest is history.

That is incorrect, it's just that there is no editor yet...a few little hacks...


Well, yeah. The point I was trying to make was that nobody has done a full hack of it yet. Only ones that modify little things. Your Super Luigi 64 is going to be one of the bigger ones, but it's nothing compared to some of the potentially large hacks we could make of the game.
