Looking good! I'm booting up my emulator right now, I'll post my comments in a few minutes...

BUGS

Screenshotless - The first text box in the intro is automatically closed after you get to the second page
Screenshotless - Sprite problems may cause red coins not to show up


When you reach this point in 1-2 and attempt to run down the slope, Yoshi will suddenly pause at the bottom. Likewise, the fake flower that is here will instantly destroy itself because of this.


Through the wall! You usually lose Mario or get impaled (more often both than just one, though) after doing this.

This area the door leads to is just a flat plain. Even though it is off screen, there is no way to die. If you haven't beaten the level, you're screwed.


More ways to get stuck in 1-4. If you waste the "!" switch and use either a POW or ? Item on the Tap-Tap, you get trapped with no way to die, as there are no pits. You'll have to reset or exit the level.


Going back a level, if you shoot this arrow while you are on the platform, and do not jump after doing so, you are killed while the screen is scrolling around, following the launched egg.

The idea is running around in a maze of tight corridors collecting "Orb Coins" (Yoshi Coins; name and graphics pending) until you get enough to pass through the numbered gates. Also, I threw in On/Off switch madness and those swings from Yoshi's Island 3. In the case of the latter, the hack would teach you a nice trick to use on them. The tricks learned would be rather useless in other hacks. The swinging platform is the most neglected sprite that has potential to be cool in hacks. Keep in mind that this level wouldn't be very big on enemy action. I was thinking of having a horozontal On/Off tunnel of sorts, but that could get annoying to the player. Remember, if you're going to suggest an alternative level, it should involve the ON/OFF Theme, and preferably, be able to involve the swings. It doesn't have to involve the coin collecting theme.

If you need a visual idea, click here. It's a browser stretcher, so that's why it is not in this post. Note that the graphics are still a WIP, and are only temporary until I can get better graphics for the area. The bright colors aren't so bad in game, just so you know.

If you enter the wrong pit in the door maze bonus of 2-1, this is what happens. You get pushed through the wall to the left, eventually falling into a pit.


If you fall into the pit while on the purple guy...nothing hapens. Everything continues as normal, but you don't die. Unless you have beaten the level or baby Mario is in a bubble, you're screwed and have to restart.


It's a little late for that.


When you hit that roulette, the X-8 completed (key) starts playing. If you get a flower on the roulette like I did, the end of the tune overlaps with the "BONUS" fanfare.


After having the above happen, if you win the bonus game, the key fanfare plays again. Odd.

In certain locations in 2-2, catchers will start shaking uncontrollably. Here are two examples (in the latter screenshot, it happens when he picks up the egg)


Baseball catchers can sometimes fall through bridges when they catch an egg.


Walking forward...walking forward...WAIT WAIT OH MY GOD!!!! (it's a bug of sorts because it can be hard to jump up the steps without hitting the boo)


Floating lava, anyone? Look at how it lines up with the spikes...


This message isn't true. If you lost and have a watermelon in your inventory, you can still get it. If you have won, but got a fire melon, you can't get it.


Vanishing sprites are rampant in this hack, and here's an extreme - the door vanishing in 2-6.

I can't find a way out of 2-7, though...

SCREENSHOTLESS: In 2-8, the spike problem returns.


Hmm...no snow to gather up to make the snowball bigger...odd looking.

I don't think there is such a thing as a "Medusa" in SMB3. If you can't find the ExGFX you want, make it yourself. For the .msc file, rename it to have the same name as your hack and patch the music file to the DW ROM. I believe there was a process you could use to get the music onto your own, non DW-based ROM, but I forgot what it was.

Very enjoyable. Great puzzles, and good level design. All the vanishing red coins and stuff drove me crazy, though. It doesn't really matter at this point, as the extra levels aren't finished, but you should fix that before the final release.

As others said, use lololol. Adblock is what gives lololol a nice edge. Unfortunetly, the bad news is that lololol has a memory lleak or something, sometimes using up to 80K of RAM at a time. Opera would be better if it was free (no problem, just pirate it) and if more people made extensions for it, but...

Funny, that door never vanished for me. 2-6 was the only time I was fully prevented from continuing.

There aren't any specific places where the red coins vanish, because it happens everywhere. One good example in 2-6. The red coins on the far right side of the room; the same room that held the vanishing door.

Well, Windows says it's using 38,384K of memory right now, and I have no tabs open. There is a trick you can use to make it use less memory, but it goes slower. lololol is on the slow side, but version 0.2 or something (it was called Firebird back then) was ridiculously fast. However, lololol worked fine without freezes on my Pentium 1 computer with only 40MB of RAM. Strange.

Not exactly. Puzzles will be involved, but only in moderation. The real point of the hack is going to be to break as many cliches as possible while having unique levels. This level is fairly early on in the game. I've already got an idea for the second incarnation of this level type in the world it is in.

The timer code is based off board time. Therefore, if you set the board time 24 hours ahead, it will be at 0. Set it to -9999 hours, and it'll be over a year before the timer hits 0. Set the board time to 99999 hours ahead, and the timer would've apparently run out 11 years ago.
