Wow, Keitaro. I had no idea...no idea at all that that thing about buying the game or dying was for real. I've seen some ROMs where the text was actually active. Is it activated by detection of being played emulator, or something? Perhaps the original dumper of the ROM was someone from Nintendo.

Well, when the ROM first came out, people noticed that when you went to the seaport in Vermillion, the guy said that block of text before letting you on a ship. I believe that the original person to distribute the ROM was from Nintendo, and activated that text.

Heh. Remember those games in Qbasic? It had a version of "snake" where you had to go through many levels, and some game called "Gorilla Glacier" where you had to enter numbers to throw a banana at another ape.

Damn, all this talk about those classic game is inducing mass nostalgia. I simply must find a download for those. No problem, with Google at your side.

I have read the FAQ and I have seen that site. Somehow, the prospect of seeing what is possible with perfect reflexes and without human error doesn't entertain me. I just find the videos too boring to watch. That's why I prefer normal speed runs.

Infinite loops, huh? Reminds me of an example of an infinite loop I saw on a Commodore 64 tutorial book. It was something along the lines of this...

20 print "HELP! MY COMPUTER'S BERSERK!!!!"
40 goto 20

Also, included near that was a cartoon of a guy covering his eyes while pointing a gun at his computer, which was putting that string on the screen endlessly. There were a lot of those things in that book. I forgot where I put it, though. I suppose I'll have to find it and scan it sometime.

But the general simplicity of Gorilla is what made it awesome. No need to worry about all that extra weaponry. Just type in some numbers (preferably some good ones) and watch it go.

Yoster, they wouldn't use the thread. Even if they were to, it would be bogged down by the same questions. It'd go something like "omg how do u do x????" "Look above a few posts". If it were a Q&A or FAQ thread, it wouldn't get looked at at all, even if the title was something like "HOLY SHIT!!! I FOUND NUDE PRINCESS GRAPHICS COMPRESSED IN THE ROM!!!!!!" and it was made clear inside that it is there to answer all your problems.

Then, well...how come it's the only tile error like that in that particular level it is in? There are some more of those (IE: the pipes in the same screenshot), but it wouldn't hurt to expand on obvious things like that.

I found a link to an archive of them, Ailure. It can be found here. Now, if only I could figure out how to make it work on my computer...

!

You got QBasic to run on your Windows XP? How? Because it's giving me a .PIF error when I try to run it on mine.

As a video game grows old its content and internal logic deterioate.

I just watched it again after having seen it first a while ago, and I just realized that I don't get the ending. Yes, I know, everything returns to normal, but still, the amount of insanity happening before it is just too bizarre to comprehend.

Heh, which reminds me. Nobody has mentioned anything about the events Xkeeper made at the last board. Closest thing is Colin's mention of being banned during a hacking.

Ah. Now I understand. That seems to make sense, if nonsense can make sense. Come to think about it, that IS pretty funny, although the "OAME GVER" bit is still the best part about that level.

Hmm...there isn't a .pif file in there. I checked; even with file extentions showing it shows nothing. The 1.1 build on the same site I directed you to works...up to the point where I have finished selecting the options. Then it says there was a division by zero error. Go figure.
