BooUrns, if I were to trust anyone online with my personal information, it'd be Google. If they take over the world someday - so be it, I wouldn't be surprised. I would willingly bow to my new overlords as well. But in seriousness, I expect Google to come out with an operating system one of these days. One of their problems is that they focus too much on many different things, but don't finish everything they start (such as gmail).

The topic might not, but Xkeeper might.
But yeah, that's pretty much the situation right now. Pasgeti_; in particular has almost all posts made in Big Topics, and ones like HyperHacker have those topics in extreme in addition to their regular active number of posts. Like I said, it was probably a bad idea to bring it back. |

Originally posted by Ailure Hey, they are the most common ones. I haven't even heard of OpenBSD until now. Nevertheless, OpenBSD would fall under the "only nerds and certain developers" use it category. I can understand some of the reasons for using such an alternative OS, but is the trade-off worth it? You tell me. |

Wow, that baker has talent. People do crazy things like that when they're in love, though it takes a special kind of eccentricity to go that far. Still, it's a pretty neat idea, although the style of the dress itself is one that could be argued about. .

Wow cpubasic13. You must've done something to draw a lot of attention to yourself and they saw you on it. Seeing the madness that sometimes steps over the boundries of what they consider "appropriateness", they blocked it. That's my theory. Blocking Yahoo mail might be going too far, though. I can understand blocking the obsessive from Halo and DDR, but Yahoo? Man. I can only find three words to describe your situation: Sieg motherfucking heil.

I was thinking that one would use Linux or OpenBSD or something over Windows or Macintosh because of security reasons. Allowing them to have more control makes more sense, however. And I understand it's a matter of prefrences. I guess I understand you now that you've explained why. I apologize for my actions.
My main concern with OSes other than Windows is the sacrifice of all that software that Windows offers. There are alternative versions and replacements, but not everything is available. Like you said, one of these is emulation and ROM hacking. Actually, come to think of it, that's pretty much the only problem I've had with OSes besides Windows and Macintosh. If it weren't for that I would likely consider using one myself. |

Originally posted by Colin We don't necessarily have to specialize in it. If we do it even jokingly, we are a threat and should be blocked, even if we aren't a threat. It's stupid, it's crazy, but it's likely just to stop people who waste their time doing other things rather than schoolwork or educational stuff. Which is understandable, but sometimes they go too far. Blocking image search just so people can't use it to look at porn? Understandable, but it causes collateral damage with those who want to use it for a legitimate cause. Next thing you know, they'll be putting restrictions on socializing, restricting it to intelligent discussion and stuff related to school. Actually, I doubt that would happen, but if it did, it'd piss off many, many people. |

This is one of the most unoriginal topics I have seen on a forum. Nevertheless, it will be a smashing success here and is unworthy of being placed in a more reasonable location such as Craziness Domain.

Very cool, Dirtbag. I noticed you have been working on the AI for Super Mario Kart recently. It being made common and public knowledge might push more people to start hacking SMK. I personally wanted to hack it myself, but the AI issue discouraged me from doing so.

It's not random - it happens while the Fire Flower or Mushroom is popping up where an object in the foreground is. There was a fix for that mentioned in the ROM Address thread. As Bio posted...

Majora's Mask and (the) Wind Waker are two Legend of Zelda games. MM upside down is WW. Stone Tower was in Majora's Mask and was upside down (and it could be flipped), but it was also in Wind Waker, right-side up. It might've been the other way around, but, meh. Now, what if we were to switch the Ms with the Ws? We'd get Wajora's Wask. That might not seem like much, but...Mind Maker.

No problem. It's on the ground? And it's always behind the foreground while it's on the ground? If so, that's weird. It usually fixes itself when it pops out of a question box. What I think happens is that the priority is turned on while it is coming out of the box so it properly shows behind the box, but is turned off when it stops coming out. But when a flower is normally placed, it doesn't turn off that behavior - as it is on by default. I may be completely wrong, though. (edited by asdf on 10-13-06 12:02 AM) |
